Champagne So sorry about your dog.

Frownette · 10/01/2021 14:34

Is that to protect floor or keep him warm??

Champagne I guess you have to take your lead from the vet now.

I was expecting a training call at 11am but it didn't happen, relief - I thought it was an odd time, I think their calendar's out of sync. I'm supposed to walk to relative to drop things off/pick stuff up but sore stomach, don't feel like it, I'd have to stand outside in the cold anyway.

MissConductUS · 10/01/2021 14:35

@Champagneforeveryone - Has the vet confirmed IMHA or does he just suspect it? What treatment is Ddog getting?

Dcat (the extra meal scammer) has found a new spot to recharge her solar batteries.

@Champagneforeveryone I'm so sorry about your dog. I feel like a tit now for posting.

They're to protect his feet. It's been really icy all day here and his paws are getting sore.

Champagneforeveryone · 10/01/2021 14:48

Goodness mouse don't be silly, DDog1 has never been one to hog the limelight Wink

missconduct he's had several blood tests with dipping levels of red cells and the symptoms fit. They can do a test but not in house so would need to wait until tomorrow. He will have been on the steroids for 24hrs by then so we would hope to have seen a little improvement which I believe will be confirmation itself.

EggyPegg · 10/01/2021 15:39

@QuestionableMouse. That video was everything I hoped it would be.

Doublechins · 10/01/2021 15:40

I'm still here lurking in the background. Just popping on to say sorry to hear about your dog champagne.

Had to go for the big shop today. Was already to go jumped in the car and battery was dead. Had to get DH to jump it. It does not like the cold weather at all so hoping the temperature picks up a bit.

Squirrel26 · 10/01/2021 16:18

Poor Champagnedog. Sad

One of my friends puts boots on her dog when we do dog training inside, because he has hip dysplasia and he slides around on village hall wooden floors. Not that that’s an issue at the moment...

MissConductUS · 10/01/2021 16:30

Champagneforeveryone Wait until you have a definitive diagnosis, but the vet is likely right. I'm so sorry.

Our amazon subscribe and save delivery came today. So we're topped up on cat food, coffee, and vitamins. One of the bags of coffee is leaking ground coffee so they put it in a clear plastic bag labeled "ready to ship". I'm debating asking for a refund.

My GP rang, during zoom church, unfortunately. The good news is that the electrocardiogram was normal and identical to the one I had last May. She still wants me to get the echocardiogram, but less urgently. All of my blood work is back, except for lipids, and it's all normal, good or very good. Covid antibodies are negative, which is good news and bad news. Good news because no one knows if there are any long term effects in asymptomatic cases, but bad news because I have no native immunity.

I was impressed that she rang me on a Sunday morning.

@QuestionableMouse My dog also has some boots! He skinned his paws (because he was pulling too hard on the lead - I was not present that day to put a stop to this) in the Lake District so we had to get him a pair of protective boots. He leapt around like a frog until he got the hang of them - there’s a video somewhere, I will post it if I can find it.

I’m sorry about ChampagneDog. Ddog will be 14 this year so I know we’re running out of time with him - he’s still mostly hale and hearty at the moment but I dread the day when we have to make that decision. Lots of love coming to you, your DH and of course your ddog, @Champagneforeveryone.

Silkiechickscat · 10/01/2021 16:51

DH has gone down to old house to hopefully do one final clearance and said he would be back at 7pm. He forgot to tell Silkiecat but so far she is happily asleep on her single bed mattress. She does the food thing - sometimes 7am is her 3rd breakfast refill Shock and quite often the bowl is already full - it is listed as a dementia sign but I suspect its half greediness, half dementia as she doesn't forget to eat until she is stuffed silly. Have same with water. Silkiecat and silkierabbit are having a competition to see who can become the most spherical, at the moment silkierabbit is winning but cat is trying hard.

Gliblet · 10/01/2021 16:54

I love these threads Grin

I've just ordered a new cotton sheet and pillowcase set for our bed. That's not the bit I'm excited about - the bit I'm excited about is the dark chocolate and cherry truffles I added to the order on the basis that I may as well, since there was a delivery coming anyway...

Silkiechickscat · 10/01/2021 17:02

Our village baker has started doing chocolates and I have the difficult decision of deciding between:

Baileys
Chocolate Orange
Salted caramel
White Chocolate caramel
Dark chocolate and ginger
Hazlenut
Chocolate and coconut

I think a lot of testing will be needed.

forgetthehousework · 10/01/2021 17:08

I dunno, disappear off for a bit and you lot get to page three of a new thread!
Sorry to hear about your dog Champagne.
Glad your test results were good MissC.
It's been very quiet here today but DH is now watching football. We're neither of us fans but there's something about watching an underdog team play a top one from the premier league, while being watched by people standing at the bottom of their gardens - go Marine!

EggyPegg · 10/01/2021 18:19

Glad to hear that your test results were okay Miss C.

I took the DC on my run again today and we went back to the new park. First time for DS2. My hamstrings were right today so I was glad of the excuse to slow down and take lots of breaks to push them on the swings/watch them climb.

When we got home, I taught DS2 (7) how to play chess using a wooden set I've had since I was 13, and then we learned Draughts (Checkers) together with the aid of Google. I won at chess and he won at Draughts. We have a beautiful Draughts set that we bought alongside our wooden Snakes and Ladders years ago, but we've never used it. We enjoyed it so much that he is now setting it up again now we've had dinner. He loves card and board games, and picks the rules up immediately without fail.

Frownette · 10/01/2021 18:44

Your board games sound lovely Eggy.

I'm just about to grumpily set off for relative with flask of tea as I'll sit outside for 5 minutes.

I won't get left alone until I go, several phone calls later:

"Your dinner's ready"
"But I'll have to sit outside in the cold!"
"It's chicken" (in a coaxing way)
"But I don't eat chicken!"

I do take care of her as she's disabled and I need to drop off toiletries, food etc but I'm not going in.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 10/01/2021 18:52

eggy Confession time: I have never ever in 34 years won against DH at checkers. I can't get my head around chess or Skat either.

MissConductUS · 10/01/2021 19:05

Welcome @gliblet and thanks for sharing your news. It would have been daft not to order the chocolates.

I'm lying down for a bit of rest (doctor's orders) and DH has agreed to make Mongolian chicken tonight.

OP posts:
Frownette · 10/01/2021 19:19

Well that was over with quickly, I got chivvied back into the car quickly then when she phoned asking if I wasn't going to eat my 'vegetable' meal I said 'vegetables? It's got chicken in it' and she said 'but only a little bit' but I was already home by then, nice flask of sweet tea to drink now.

Everyone seems to have nice chocolates in!

Anjo2011 · 10/01/2021 19:28

I had a takeaway Sunday lunch for the second weekend in a row. It was epic. I have no desire to ever cook one again.

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 10/01/2021 19:41

I've added yogurt to my Sainsbury's order for tomorrow as I plan on making the French yogurt cake as mentioned on another thread.

Sorry to hear about Ddog Champagne

Squirrel26 · 10/01/2021 19:41

I'm watching Greg Wallace and Cherry Healy on TV explain how socks are made in a factory. We have reached the point where the toes are sewn up. The lady who does it has been doing it for 33 years. Shock

Silkiechickscat · 10/01/2021 20:01

Silkiecat realised it was 7pm and DH wasn't home but she has discovered a good game where she calls DD rushes to her cuddles her then DD comes back upstairs then cat calls DD rushes to her cuddles her goes upstairs and repeat x 20.

DH is on his way back.

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 10/01/2021 20:11

My blue bin is still not emptied. I do hope that it isn't going to be left until the next pick up day as it's stuffed already never mind another couple of weeks added. Next pick up is 21st January.

Frownette · 10/01/2021 20:30

Ahhh ours finally goes tomorrow @NotanotherboxofFrogs. Can you sign up to alerts with your local council? I'd better go do our black one...
