Good day, lovely people of the thread.

@Champagneforeveryone - that is excellent news and certainly allowed! We have all be quite concerned about Ddog. He must have turned a corner for the vet to discharge him.

@Sheusedtobesomeonelse - I'm glad to see you found the new thread. Good luck getting ready for your appraisal.

Eggy, by all means, go for the sofa nap.

DS started his online internship, with a haircut and hopefully one of the collared dress shirts I bought him. I'll try not to bother him for an update during the day and just have him fill us in on how it went tonight.

hoorah for DDog Champagne, just catching up with the thread earlier I was a tad"bated breath" - glad he's back where he's meant to be!

EggyPegg · 11/01/2021 14:19

That is fantastic news @Champagneforeveryone! So pleased to hear he's home.

DH had a break between calls so I made myself some lunch (cheese, tomato and cucumber in pitta) and took it back to the sofa.

I'm now watching Queer Eye with EggyCat1 on my lap. I will need to wash the blanket I have over me as I clearly can't eat like an adult and managed to get tomato seeds all over it.

forgetthehousework · 11/01/2021 15:25

Outside it is cold, wet and windy so we mutually decided not to tackle the outside job we had planned for today.

Who knows, tomorrow may be better weather.
(Who am I kidding here?)

Frownette · 11/01/2021 15:28

That's great, Champagne!

The temp dipped here and it rained a bit, but it's perked up now. I observe from my bedroom cell.

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 11/01/2021 15:37

Delighted to hear Champagne dog is home. 😀

The blue bin has been picked up (sorry that might be too exciting)

Frownette · 11/01/2021 15:38

We're bin twins, Frogs, ours went today as well

MissConductUS · 11/01/2021 15:46

Eggy, this is going to sound a bit fussy, but I take the seeds out of the tomatoes before I slice them. It's not just the mess, I think the seeds taste bitter.

Well done ChampagneDog and vet!

Taswama · 11/01/2021 16:48

I have started watching the Crown from the beginning. DS is watching old Dr. Who episodes in the same room that I'm working in. Took me a while to work out why Prince Philip was in Dr. Who!

TenCornMaidens · 11/01/2021 17:25

Ready meals for dinner tonight. Various curries according to everyone's dietary requirements.

Have asked our cleaner not to come for the time being, and am nervous about the amount of physical labour I will now have to do.

Lovely walk with the family after lunch today.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/01/2021 17:45

That is good news about the DDog!!!! Hope he gets better.

Came home from work with DH in a zoom meeting, DD just about to register for an exam and DS doing .... something.
DD bought me a piece of cheesecake Smile

Spudlet · 11/01/2021 18:23

@MissConductUS I take the seeds out of tomatoes as well. It’s the texture of the middle but that I really dislike.

@Champagneforeveryone Excellent news about ddog, I’m so pleased for you!

I am shattered, today we have done maths, phonics, picked up the supermarket shop, done a load of laundry, built a rocket, I have taken part in a video conference on key working services for autistic young people, and have cooked squash and quinoa burgers. I am DONE.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/01/2021 18:35

DS has formally asked to go repeat the year.
His mentor and the head of year think it is a good idea.

I have calmed down.

I'm so relieved to hear this Spudlet. I was starting to get worried that the thread was going to shun me for being a tomato snob. Smile

The gooey part the seeds are in is gross. And it gets the bread soggy in a sandwich. Well done on the rocket!

DS ate all his dinner so although the rest of the day has been pretty tricky, I have a 3 year old with a full tummy at least.
We are isolating due to a case at his nursery. Sad

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/01/2021 19:01

DH skins (peels) tomatoes before he eats them - and every other fruit / veg, too.

soddingkitten · 11/01/2021 19:20

Evening all. My day was so dull, I don’t even have dull news to share.

Good news about ChampagneDog. Smile

AmandaHoldensLips · 11/01/2021 19:26

I looked at some much needed bathroom shelves on the internet today but didn't buy them because I don't know how to put up bathroom shelves.

MissConductUS · 11/01/2021 19:38

Welcome, @AmandaHoldensLips, and thanks for sharing your DIY news. I don't know how to put them up either, but am pretty sure it involves something called "sheetrock mollies". I'd loan you my DH to do it, but I suspect it would be quicker to hire someone locally.

OP posts:
soddingkitten · 11/01/2021 19:41

Sheetrock is plasterboard in the UK, I think. Mollies may be rawl plugs. You need special expanding ones for plasterboard so the screws drop straight back out. And that, my friends, is the limit of my DIY knowledge in this area.

soddingkitten · 11/01/2021 19:42

...screws don’t drop straight out

Nydj · 11/01/2021 19:49

I am exhausted from having made a cheese soufflé for dinner - it was very nice although perhaps I shouldn’t have added more cheese than required according to the recipe.

MissConductUS · 11/01/2021 19:50

A molly is also called a "drywall anchor" here.

Thank you for the welcome @MissConductUS, that's so lovely of you. I cannot claim any credit for my username, that honour, such as it is, goes to @Glinner and Steve Delaney. My name is down to them and I thank them both.

I had shepherd's pie earlier, and put some of the mashed potato between two slices of breaded butter. Or buttered bread, depending on your point of view. Either way it was gorgeous.
