The saga continues to continue with more sequels than a trilogy of trilogies...

Flocked to the seaside for a lovely walk aided by yummy take away pastries 😍

I'm here.

I think I’m going to have to keep a spreadsheet of all the usernames who display such evil disablist views on many of the threads at the moment then I can discount their views on anything important in the future. It has really shocked me how deeply unpleasant people can be and the lack of basic compassion showed. AngrySadThe pity is they’ll probably name change.

Seriouslymole · 09/01/2021 16:09

Just checking in. Didn’t want to lose the last bastion of sanity.

Hello all! Love the new thread title Grin
Had my covid jab yesterday - all good except a slightly sore arm today.

And as we often get asked in the first few pages...

And the AD stands for anti dementor.
There are creatures in Harry Potter called dementors, who suck all hope and happiness from you and eventually take your soul. Way back at the start of the pandemic thread after thread was posted on by posters like this and anyone who'd dare question anything or disagree with anything (like putting cheese in your coffee) was bullied off these threads. And so any actual discussion disappeared and it became an echo chamber of misery.

We are the antidote to that. We follow the rules, but not the "roolz" and we question and discuss with respect to each other. It's all very civil.

My boiler's OK, but I now have a shiny garage door and freshly painted rendering on my frontage Wink

I understand that other than the official face masks worn by medical professionals, there is NO proof anywhere in the world of covering your face being effective against covid.

Illstartexercisingtomorrow · 09/01/2021 16:23

Makes people feel more in control tho and is a visual reminder that we still need to be vigilant.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 09/01/2021 16:28

Hi everyone, checking in.
Again thank you so much for all your well wishes regarding DB.

He is still being treated by the clinical team within the home alongside his GP/out of hours.
He is still breathless but can talk, not too much though as it makes him even more breathless and tired. He has a temperature which keeps spiking so they are trying to stabilise it. If they can reduce it or keep it stable then he will probably be able to be continued to be treated at the home.
The nurse I spoke with this afternoon said that as he is vulnerable and covid can be unpredictable, they are monitoring him closely and will let me know if anything changes. Though the next few days are key.
I know I should be reassured that they are watching him closely but given the circumstances of how he caught covid, it means putting my trust in the people who exposed him to it to start with and I know it sounds ridiculous but I'm finding that hard right now.

Checking in!

Much sympathy, @LivinlaVidaLoki.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 09/01/2021 16:37

@LivinLaVidaLoki I can understand why you feel that way but hoping and praying that your brother improves more and does not need to go to hospital.
@ShoeJunkie I get a dead arm for a day or so after I have had my flu jab, hopefully that is the only side effect the vaccine gives me (diabetic so due about April I believe)!

ShoeJunkie · 09/01/2021 16:41

@smallandimperfectlyformed - yep, it feels exactly like after a flu jab 👍🏻

@LivinLaVidaLoki keeping everything crossed for your DB

I see the government are throwing caution to the winds, and ramping the scaremongering up to eleven; the trouble is, it's actually making them appear to be even less credible. Crying wolf in desperation.

I see there have been protests on Clapham Common - even the BBC is reporting this. Is the tide turning? Are people becoming increasing sceptical of Boris's supplication of "pleeeeeeeeeeeease stay at home"? After all, he told us that exercise is good for us.

Also, i have switched my newspaper of choice from the Guardian to the Telegraph. Much saner commentary on Covid related stuff tbh.

MercyBooth · 09/01/2021 17:13

@Recycledblonde Yes Also the same ones moaning about people going out to excercise now will be the ones moaning about obesity in 18 months time or even sooner.

MrsEWeatherwax · 09/01/2021 17:13

Checking in. My DD has just had a good cry because she can’t see her friends. Yes, she can talk to them on online but it’s not the same. Her sixth form broke up beginning December for revision. She is just so lonely, I could cry 😢 . My other is DD is cleaning and vacuuming her room, she is that bored. I feel such a rubbish parent.
