Yes to the PP who said putting together a PPT presentation - I also love programming a really complex Excel spreadsheet. I love my job. Smile

More stuff that most can't stand but I loke.

Tinned tuna.
Anchovies.
Capers.
Crispy bacon with raspberry jam on rye bread.
Fat, as to eat, I like the fatty bits in pork roast, the glutinous bits in stews. Drool.
Pickle juice.
Arguments as sport, being the Devil's Advocate is my bloody calling.
Oysters.
Snails, as in Escargot.

Arguments as sport, being the Devil's Advocate is my bloody calling.

This is why I love mn and why I loved uni (the second time - different kind of course first time)

I love debating things with people, I have friends and family with strong and varying opinions on many things, I've often had people that are new acquaintances be surprised that I have close friends who have very different ideologies to me but I value those people enormously for their honesty and their willingness to argue the points without it causing fall outs or hurt (most of the time)

I'm a staunch socialist, feminist, vegetarian, non smoking, rarely drink, never tried recreational drugs, tech loving, book loving, indoor preferring Middle Aged woman who has very dear friends who are:

Tory voting, meat loving, smokers, like a drink most weekends, a few cannabis users, tech haters, hate reading, love the outdoors inc hunting/shooting/fishing people...

They know my views I know theirs but these are all people I know and love.

One friend and I are both very strong with each other on politics and have very different ideas and we regularly debate quite publicly at times and people are a bit like "how can you argue like that and still be friends" and we're just like "cos it's not about the friendship, it's about our opinions on certain issues and we're able to hold opposing opinions without letting it affect the friendship"

Once at uni during a bit of a weird assignment a fellow student APPEARED to be "picking on me" or "goading me" about something but I knew him well and respected him and kinda twigged what was happening so went along but stayed in good humour, other students who weren't aware of our dynamic or believed the outrageous things he was saying started stepping in "for me" and we had to calm things down a bit after exchanging looks with each other and then there was a sort of "reveal" afterwards other students were like "so you were in on it"? And I was like "no, I just know him and what his real opinions are and kinda guessed what he was up to and went along with it, it was entertaining" and they were like Confused

Verbal sparring! Love it!

TildaTurnip · 05/01/2021 23:40

@Bunnyrun5

Loving this thread.. I love Chris Whitty Cold baked beans Injections especially being anaesthesised.
When you say being anaesthetised do you mean being put under? I quite like coming round from anaesthetic but being put under ...I find that scary 👀

Liver
The smell of diesel fuel

KitchenDancefloor · 06/01/2021 00:48

Doing the laundry - but shh, don't tell my family as it is my get out from doing other chores

'I've done three loads of washing today so who's going to unload the dishwasher?'

I love my mechanical slave/washing machine. The only thing in this house that obeys me.
I love hanging it outside.
The excuse to get out into the garden in my PJs first thing in the morning to peg it out.
The thrill of running to fetch it on if it starts to rain.
The smell of fresh clothes as I fold them.
The busyness and bustle that I can crate to look really busy when I'm just procrastinating.

Love it all!

KitchenDancefloor · 06/01/2021 00:52

ADRIENNEthroughbloodshoteyes · 06/01/2021 22:17

@AdoptedBumpkin yes! They’re back in my little village shop - two for a pound! Grin I told my kids how delicious they were... they did the taste test and declared them “disgusting”.

PrincessNutNuts · 07/01/2021 04:05

Wearing stockings as opposed to tights.

garlictwist · 07/01/2021 05:27

I love the dark in winter and lack of daylight. The day drags on far too long in summer. I love closing the curtains at 4pm and hitting the sofa.

@Graphista
Warms the cockles of my heart to know there are others out there who 'get it'!
I also have a few very dear friends with whom such sparring is the ultimate treat; true friends and a wee dram or few of Highlands' finest, nothing better...
