and gently remind her that she is broadcasting to adults, not a group of primary school children!

I THINK I'm correct in thinking that lots of presenters/celebs have lots of different ways of getting paid.

SO, for instance, The TV GN Show is not made by the BBC but bought as a package as the BBC, so then the production company can pay their presenters whatever they wish without declaring it. (fair enough if you ask me for such an internationally successful programme).

GN was an employee of the BBC just as a R2 presenter.

Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong...

@Moonmelodies

Maybe you're ready for Nikki Bedi and Richard Coles on Radio 4 on a Saturday morning.
I usually listen to that then switch over to Graham in time for 'Grill Graham' - although that routine will have to change.
MargaretHooper · 02/01/2021 15:23

Chris Mason was on covering for Jeremy Vine. Gary Davies was covering for Ken Bruce. Chris was a breath of fresh air, and Gary held it together for Popmaster this time round!

Cat Deeley is married to Patrick Kielty!

I did not know that.

Can't stand Richard Coles, i.e. I used to be in a band in the 1980's you know (Communards)......I'm a vicar, y'know Reverend......I'm still gay as well you know......my boyfriend died last year you know......another one of those crosses for me to bear you know.....'cause I'm a Reverend these days you see.....and t.v. presenter you know....and a radio presenter....and did I mention I'm a Reverend, dog collar and everything and still gay like I always was......

No thanks, he makes my teeth itch.

I think this is a horrible post. And it was his husband who died, for which he received appalling abuse on SM.
butterpuffed · 02/01/2021 15:34

Cat was awful, kept laughing like a hyena when Peter Kay ,and the two chefs later on, said anything vaguely amusing.

NotmyfirstRodeomyfriend · 02/01/2021 15:38

Forget about Cat, did anyone hear that dire Joe Wicks radio programme over Christmas where he was interviewing random celebs? He was AWFUL, completely devoid of character and kept talking about himself!

HerBigChance · 02/01/2021 15:39

@MrsBobDylan

This is my only claim to fame so ready up people...I met Liza Tarbuck at a party about 20 years ago. She said she liked my dress and gave me a fag. She was absolutely lovely and made me feel like a million dollars Grin
That's fabulous! I think she would be great on a night out.
Spacecudet · 02/01/2021 15:44

It all went down hill for me when Terry Wogan left

I love Saturday mornings on Radio 4. Richard Coles is brilliant. I really enjoy listening to the comedy and interviews from Radio 4 on BBC Sounds.
Nothernewname · 02/01/2021 15:52

@MsTSwift

I turned on Graham Norton and there was a manic woman who sounded like she was performance parenting or something. Quickly turned to the money programme on radio 4. I am not a toddler!
Same
Thedogscollar · 02/01/2021 15:54

Oh my God just woke up to this news after a night shift. I love Graham Norton and Maria on a Sat morning will defo tune into Virgin for him now.

Another favourite is Liza Tarbuck, I bloody love that woman, she is hilarious down to earth and plays great music.

Not so keen on Joe Lycett like a rip off Julian Clarey.

Cat Deeley is married to Patrick Kielty!

I did not know that.

Then you've obviously never listened to him on the radio because he mentions it about once every three seconds...

Talking of Terry Wogan.
Someone needs to take Cat Deeley aside
supernanmam · 02/01/2021 16:18

@Hoppinggreen

To be fair to her she did kids TV then went to America for ages so she’s not used to a British Adult audience
Rather unprofessional. Surely it’s a basic of any tv presenter to know their audience.

God yes, it was absolute shite, I mean really, really bad. Who the fuck thought a keep fit instructor with no personality and a voice like a 7 year old would be good on radio FGS. I'd personally like to take the person who was responsible round the back of the bike shed and beat the shit out of them. It was the worst thing I've heard in years.
Skipsurvey · 02/01/2021 16:33

i really liked claudia on the sunday evening

CandidaAlbicans2 · 02/01/2021 16:40

Still haven’t forgiven them for the whole Drivetime debacle

Nor me ☹️ I used to love listening to that show on my drive back from uni and, for me, it was totally ruined when Jo Whiley joined Simon. No chemistry, just so awkward, and I don't like her voice either. I really tried to like it but it was awful. I miss Chris Evans too as I used to listen to him during my morning commutes, but at least I like Zoe Ball so it's not too bad.

Peridot1 · 02/01/2021 16:40

@RoganJosh

Cat Deeley is married to Patrick Kielty!

I did not know that.

Yes - they worked together years before and then she moved to the US and they stayed in touch as friends. He always liked her. Then one year on her birthday he spoke to her from UK with her in LA and asked what she was doing for her birthday. She said she was having lunch at a restaurant with some friends. He flew over and walked into the restaurant completely surprising her. Apparently she looked at him and said ‘oh you’re good’ and I think they have been together ever since. They have two children. He says he is very aware he’s punching above his weight! He does tell the sorry a lot and I think it’s lovely. I’m an old romantic!
ThePluckOfTheCoward · 02/01/2021 16:42

@Judashascomeintosomemoney

Ritchie Anderson’s traffic reports are my cue to leave my home office to go and get a cup of tea as he’s so bloody awful. It’s not the accent btw - he just manages to be so annoying in the three minutes he’s on each half hour there’s no way I’d listen to a whole show of him He’s awful, bless him. Somehow, though perfectly polite, Ken Bruce can’t disguise his contempt for him. Poor bloke.
I totally agree with this and also can't stand Ritchie. Just hope they don't get rid of Ken.

I really like Sara Cox and Vanessa Feltz and I love Lisa Tarbuck, she makes me laugh, sounds half cut and plays a fantastically varied and interesting selection of music.

Instead of Cat Deeley I would much rather listen to her old man, I like Patrick Kielty. However, the person with the best voice for radio is Cillian Murphy, his voice makes my knees go week and wobbly and I could listen to him for hours. Let's start a petition to get Cillian Murphy on R2.

Peridot1 · 02/01/2021 16:43
@Peridot1 Oh, I love someone who is still bearing a grudge over the Drivetime catastrophe. Now I'm cooking in the evenings a lot more I really feel the pang of missing Matt and Simon.
Me too. I’m sure Sara Cox is a lovely person but I just can’t listen. I’m not keen on Zoe Ball either although again she seems lovely. I think I’m too old for that level of enthusiasm! They never seem to take a breath!

rednsparkley · 02/01/2021 17:04

I am another holding a grudge about Drivetime - I miss Dr Mosh 😁

I do like Sara Cox though, I like her voice and I really wish she did breakfast as I cannot abide Zoe Ball - she never lets any of her guests get a bloody word in. Ken is my favourite. I like Craig Charles and I did enjoy Joe Lycett in for Sara. We all enjoy Paul O'Gravy (as my kids call him) as we eat our Sunday tea. Thankfully I missed Cat Deeley (and I prefer Patrick Kielty to Jeremy shit journalist Vine

*Jo Lycett has had radio presenter experience and knows how to engage an audience.

I do like the guy.*

Me too.

It was dire. He was clearly reading from a script too.
