and gently remind her that she is broadcasting to adults, not a group of primary school children!

Also lost my go to independent radio ..was Jack fm ..great range of music and hardly any dj speak..now bought out by Greatest Hitsfm and idiot djs (other than Simon Mayo) blathering on as if its 1972 and they're chatting to bored housewives ...sheesh.

Abhannmor · 02/01/2021 14:15

@Chicchicchicchiclana

Aww poor Graham. Despite being the Beeb's highest paid employee he clearly doesn't feel he has quite enough money in the bank Hmm.
What is it with these people. David Mitchell is another one ,seems to live in a tv studio ,you turn on radio 4 and there he is again hosting some quiz. Must be hard for young talent trying to get a break.

I didn't even know Graham Norton had a radio show! I love him. I mainly listen to BBC 6 Music since the pandemic started, with a dash of Radio 4. I used to listen to R4 a lot more but it's too depressing at the mo.
6 Music is like Radio 1 for middle-aged people who used to listen to R1 when they were teenagers. Grin It's great!

I might give Graham's show on Virgin a go...

Crunched · 02/01/2021 14:20

I really warm to Ritchie Anderson, he is the only reason I can listen to gaspie Zoé Ball (have loved Paddy O'Connell standing in over Christmas for Ms Ball) and I like the way Ken ribs him about his TV appearances.
I do hope Ken never retires, although his show used to be my cue to change channels and I wonder if liking him is a stage of aging!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/01/2021 14:23

Could be worse , could be Holly Willoughby ..........

I was watching one of those out-take shows , my god her squeaky voice and fake "Ohhh I'm so cute was that rude talking about a sausage to Gino" type shite .
I am glad I'm never in for ITV morning TV.

LBC all the way for me . No music and not as many idiot presenters ( there are some , but not many )

Crinkle77 · 02/01/2021 14:23

Cat Deeley was on Saturday Kitchen a few weeks ago and she was skool annoying. Just talk, talk, talk the whole time. It seemed that a lot of people on Twitter also agreed.

missyB1 · 02/01/2021 14:24

I’m definitely tempted to give Richard Coles a go, I like him.
The other show worth listening to is Frank Skinner on Absolute radio on Saturday mornings.

Heatherjayne1972 · 02/01/2021 14:32

Yeah it wasn’t great this morning
That segment with Peter Kay was just awful

Virgin radio here I come on a Saturday
Can’t leave Ken Bruce on a weekday

PamDenick · 02/01/2021 14:33

I usually love a bit of MN criticism but this thread just seems MEAN.

I've really enjoyed R2 this holiday - Motsi was lovely, I really love Joe Lycett as a presenter, Cat was fine and obviously gently bringing Peter Kay back to public life (she's his friend and has also worked with him).

Love that we get some new voices/personalities. And if ever utterance of theirs isn't a work of high literature, so what? Even presenters have to learn their craft somewhere…

MsTSwift · 02/01/2021 14:35

I turned on Graham Norton and there was a manic woman who sounded like she was performance parenting or something. Quickly turned to the money programme on radio 4. I am not a toddler!

wowfudge · 02/01/2021 14:37

I like Cat's husband Patrick Kielty when he's on R2. Didn't hear Cat this morning.

OJ was fine, as was Paddy over Christmas. I can't stand Craig Charles so haven't missed him. I think Nikki Chapman is covering the slot next week.

MsTSwift · 02/01/2021 14:37

I love Sara Cox and Lisa tarbuck also Vanessa feltz.

The worst is Steve Wright. Just why?

TheSpottedZebra · 02/01/2021 14:38

Fuck yes. She was so awful. I think we're meant to be DELIGHTED that she's back.

Chris Mason was on in the week, I think for Ken. I liked him. Nicely sarcastic.

Gingernaut · 02/01/2021 14:40

Jo Lycett has had radio presenter experience and knows how to engage an audience.

I do like the guy.

MrsPnut · 02/01/2021 14:41

@ToffeeNotCoffee

Craig Charles on so bloody late on NYE, he should be getting more slots not pushed into later ones.

This^

Craig Charles covered the 4-7 slot on 6music for the last two weeks so he’s been quite busy. His shows were awesome as always.
JuniLoolaPalooza · 02/01/2021 14:42

Has bbc6 music improved? They changed thr play list a few years ago to be more electronic/dance and as a strictly guitar music person I couldn't stand it. Left for radio 2 and haven't been back.
Agree Ken must never leave and I love Liza.
I hope Claudia is good, when she covers for Sara Cox she is always so apologetic for being there it makes me feel weird.

MrsBobDylan · 02/01/2021 14:42

This is my only claim to fame so ready up people...I met Liza Tarbuck at a party about 20 years ago. She said she liked my dress and gave me a fag. She was absolutely lovely and made me feel like a million dollars Grin

MrsBobDylan · 02/01/2021 14:44

I like the music on her show, she plays some really unusual stuff that is easy to listen to. I get lots of ideas for dinner from her listeners too.

MsTSwift · 02/01/2021 14:44

I am not surprised by that!

Very unlike my friends anecdote about meeting Amanda Holden. To be fair it was ages ago she might have improved since

I love Graham on the radio - better than the telly. Like Chris Evans if he's any sense he'll have made sure some of the features on his show can go with him to Virgin.

bornonvalentines · 02/01/2021 14:53

@Peridot1 Oh, I love someone who is still bearing a grudge over the Drivetime catastrophe. Now I'm cooking in the evenings a lot more I really feel the pang of missing Matt and Simon.

PinkyPinkerton · 02/01/2021 14:56

Isn't it funny - I loved listening to her this morning. I was cleaning with the radio on and it just reminded me of the old days when I used to be collapsed on the sofa hungover watching SM:TV (of course I now see the reason for the nostalgia is that she still sounds/presents the same way Grin).

Fizbosshoes · 02/01/2021 14:57

I love Graham Norton
Off topic slightly but I thought Gary Linekar and Jeremy Vine were above GN when it came to highest paid at the beeb...?
