Poor Cat, I actually really like her but did comment to DH that she was pretty hard to stick listening to today. I do think though that it’s unfair to judge on one show, people need time to find their feet and I bet she’d be good in a few weeks if it was her permanent.

That said I love Claudia so if she’s going to be taking over I’ll be happy.

Would like to hear more from Cat on R2 though, so I hope they don’t write her off on the basis of today.

@LottaHogs - I really like Liza's show too (the initial recommendation was from MN), but I don't listen when she's away as the stand-ins only ever do their own show, rather than cover her show with the kind of music she plays.

Yes, Liza Tarbuck is great and she plays non-mainstream music too which is so refreshing. I love it when she shouts at Alexa. She also always sounds half-cut (I'm sure she isn't) but it's fun.

It was awful, and despite having an hour in the car waiting for DS at athletics training, turned it off.

Looking forward to Claudia, she makes me laugh. Glad Graham has gone, I like him but it's time for a change. I wonder if Cat Deeley will be back. Many years ago Davina McCall covered for Ken Bruce. It was a car crash and I don't think she ever returned.

I used to listen to R2 from morning till night 2 years ago. I only turn over for Jeremy vine and graham Norton, but now that's down to JV for the first hour and then I switch to the world at one.

It's R4 for me all the way now.

I used to sometimes catch a bit of Claudia's Sunday evening radio show. It was zzzzzzzzzzz.

Graham has probably done the same thing as Chris Evans for the same reason - so he doesn't have to suffer the embarrassment of everybody being told his shocking annual salary.

Since lockdown I listen to R2 all day while WFH - Ritchie Anderson’s traffic reports are my cue to leave my home office to go and get a cup of tea as he’s so bloody awful. It’s not the accent btw - he just manages to be so annoying in the three minutes he’s on each half hour there’s no way I’d listen to a whole show of him.

OJ Borge has been ok. He doesn’t look how I expected him to look! He somehow sounds a lot older.

Don’t think it was that, think it was because they were trying to make him play lots more music and cut the chat out. He didn’t want to and I agree with him, that’s what I liked about his show.

Radio 3 on Saturday mornings (and afternoons, come to that) is no better. The particular offender is the inane woman first thing in the morning who plays a load of experimental bollocks "sonic landscapes".

I don't know why they have to get so many awful cover presenters in. It is like they are trying to annoy the listeners. And why the heck did they put Craig Charles on so bloody late on NYE, he should be getting more slots not pushed into later ones.

Cat Deely was good on R2. Still miss Graham though. The slot with Peter Kay was ok. I don't know why she kept reading out the positive feedback regarding Peter Kay in such an excited manner.

I switched off when she went off at some tangent about shoes. At that point her voice started to grate.

Maybe you're ready for Nikki Bedi and Richard Coles on Radio 4 on a Saturday morning.

Cat Deeley is covering, but Claudia Winkelman will be taking over from Graham Norton, later in January.

As others have said, both Radio 1 & 2 have been shit this Christmas. It’s like they have decided ‘oh let’s get some celebs in, doesn’t matter if they have zero skilll in actual radio presenting’.
