Is anyone going to be doing Adriene’s 30 days of yoga in January? The theme this year is breath. I did this last year and really loved it. I didn’t manage it every day so it took me til February but I am really pleased I did it and have been doing regular yoga ever since.

Day 6 is always abs day and always my second least favourite. Today's is described as gentle which I'm liking the sound of Smile

Hello, I'd like to join the thread!

I've never really done yoga before so thought this looked good after stumbling over the thread.

I have to say, I'm really enjoying it. I feel relaxed and loose afterwards. The only downside is having to stop to check what she's doing sometimes as I'm on the floor and the laptop is on a kitchen worktop! (Everyone else is playing or working in our house so no choice but to do it in the kitchen hallway bit...)

Yesterday was tough. The low we boat etc was tricky but I'm enjoying the short sessions which slot in after work but before dinner prep.

My neck and shoulders are where I hold my tension so today was great!

What do beginners do after the month is up?! Is there a beginners course which is ongoing? Look forward to keeping up with the thread.....

@JustNotFunAnymore day 6 is always tough as it focuses on the abs . Last year the low boat twists also featured. It does get easier after this. One of the days is basically a wars yourself in a blanket yoga which is nice.

@gerbo once the mounts is up she puts out a set of videos that you can do that month a few of them will be new (one a week). You can also try her foundations of yoga or yoga for absolute beginners. Foundations of yoga focuses on one pose at a time and teaches you about it in detail. I like the 30 days of yoga as the choice is made for you.

I didn't get chance to do day 7 yesterday (and still feeling it from day 6! That one was hard!) but still enjoying it and going to carry on.

JustNotFunAnymore · 09/01/2021 10:52

I'm on day 7 today anyway. I'm never on the 'right' day!

Thank you for that. I look forward to blanket yoga 😂

Rainbows89 · 09/01/2021 14:30

I did day 1 and haven’t done anymore!!!

I might do it at the weekend and not try and fit it in on weekdays. I know that’s not the point but jt might be the best I can do....

JustNotFunAnymore · 09/01/2021 19:59

Just done 7. I can't sit crossed legged for as long as my hips have been sore. I can't bend myself in half as my stomach gets in the way. I've finished that one and cried.

JustNotFunAnymore · 10/01/2021 16:27

Done 8. Had to make something up for the bit in the middle where she sat crossed legs and reached forward to the floor. Feeling a bit flat off the last few. At least I showed up I guess!

When I first started YWA I had to manually yank my left leg from downward dog/plank to low lunge, couldn't balance on one leg at all, and couldn't hold plank for more than a few seconds.

Not saying I'm brilliant now, but I can do all those things. You'll surprise yourself one day, but for now don't beat yourself up - Adriene does often say it's called a practice for a reason Flowers

gerbo · 10/01/2021 18:16

Done 8 and I'm enjoying it. I like the way it doesn't feel as obviously strenuous as joe wicks yet I get a sweat on, and feel lovely and loose at the end, like I do with HIT.

FreshFreesias · 10/01/2021 19:12

I’m afraid her voice would put me off.

jess3817 · 10/01/2021 20:12

Done day 9 - I've really been enjoying all of them. Ive been having to adapt some of the poses and just doing the best I can to my ability, did anyone like the breathing at the start of today? Think that's my favourite one so far- found the previous one ( sorry I can't remember the right names for them 😂)

jess3817 · 10/01/2021 20:13

@FreshFreesias I find her voice quite calming. I just follow her instructions when I can't see the screen.

gerbo · 11/01/2021 07:14

@PumpkinWitch I didn't say thanks for the info. Appreciated.

JustNotFunAnymore · 11/01/2021 07:37

Day 9 done. I loved that one. Not sure why but was miles more positive after that one. Managed some of the one legged balancing which made me happier! Still struggling on anything that involves getting my stomach in the way Smile

PumpkinWitch · 11/01/2021 09:31

JustNotFunAnymore I am pleased that you enjoyed day nine and persisted with it. I am rubbish at the balances.

I loved day 8 so much I am going to do it again today to keep myself calm. I am having a difficult time because my granny has died and I am feeling really panicky today.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Sending you strength. The breathing exercises will help with the panicking. Xx

Just shown dh the one legged balance from today (9) and he laughed! When I asked him if he was impressed he said he definitely was seeing as I can't normally get my socks on without sitting down Grin
JustNotFunAnymore · 12/01/2021 09:58

Done 10 and couldn't help but laugh halfway through when she started singing! Really helps get my Fay off to a good start. Starting to balance a little better too but miles better on one foot than the other which is odd.

PumpkinWitch · 12/01/2021 10:21

Thank you. I am doing a lot better today.

I loved day 9 as well and I am usually quite rubbish at balances. I liked the breathing through one nostril at a time at the beginnings. It was so calming. I am going to do day 10 at lunchtime as my morning was quite chaotic.

Justnotfunanymore it sounds like you are doing brilliantly.

Dragging myself out of bed to do day 11. How is everyone getting on? 🥰

VenusStarr · 13/01/2021 12:56

I've missed a couple of days but did day 9 this morning, still enjoying it but need to carve out a time slot to do it.
