Do you ever wonder the outcome of some threads?

I often follow threads that never reach a conclusion and do sometimes wonder...

Like the one where the woman had a terrible fallout with her DH...he then spent the entire weekend lying on the floor of their walk in wardrobe - in the dark- refusing to eat, drink or communicate with anyone. Every few hours someone would ask 'is he still in the wardrobe?'...and yes he was despite her sending the DC in to try to get him out etc. So strange and just such a desperate situation for her.

There was one a few years ago where a sister was telephoned by the school as an emergency contact to pick up her poorly niece, and when she took her home she discovered a lot of neglect, filthy home, unhygienic with no food etc. and began trying to get temporary custody of niece....I became so invested and then it ended up to be a troll apparently!

Which threads have stuck with you they you still
wonder about?

Yes I do wonder about some of them, but I can also understand why on some threads the OP doesn’t respond when there’s a lot of negativity or posters jumping down your throat telling you to LTB when it isn’t that easy x

Pechanga · 31/12/2020 14:17

@BriocheBuns yes and then those threads...

OP: AIBU?
Everyone on Mumsnet: yes you are!
OP: no I'm not!.....leaves in a huff!

Loads! There’s been a few ‘fancy this guy I met, should I ask him out’ type ones that I always want to know what happened but I suppose the answer is they didn’t!

You may enjoy this thread from classics....there is an actual happy ending!

Dating again (gulp) after being widowed www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/2586932-Dating-again-gulp-after-being-widowed

(I hope the link works?)

I was really invested in that thread about an overseas houseguest who refused to come out of her room! The theories ranged from plain snobbery, abusive relationship, pregnancy, MH issues. Obviously there wasn't a clear resolution as such but I just hope the woman ended up ok.

There were two Covid related threads that never had a resolution. One who paid £250 for an antibody test and the other one who thought she caught it while going for a walk in a park outside.

ByersRd · 31/12/2020 14:26

The poster and the builder. (Youngest of the builders...but didn't she end up with the elder builder). It was great to read 'real' time and hilarious. The 'biscuit code' was something I'd never heard of...we had builders here at the time...definitely stopped buying them hob nobs. 😂

I get frustrated by the baby name threads...ask for names, PP's list loads...never hear from the OP again! (Apart from one lady with twins, where a PPA actually did name them!)

Pechanga · 31/12/2020 14:30

I missed the 'builder & biscuit code thread'...can anyone link?

I was also overly invested in the houseguest thread....the newly married couple returned for a visit at the end of their holiday and it was the same story....she refused to leave the room (and hardly ate any food, it was all found in the bin after they left). It was quite concerning!

Yes byers, and the bonkers baby names threads! Did you really call your child Atlas, Deven, Elend (to name the most recent)? I need to know.

Meepmeeep · 31/12/2020 14:34

Yes, does anybody remember Catlady and mini? She posted regularly up until mini was due to start school then disappeared. I really hope everything worked out ok for them. That little girl sounded adorable.

SweatyBetty20 · 31/12/2020 14:47

I remember the girl who asked out her postie (he said yes) and wonder how that went on. And the poster who was in a v controlling abusive relationship (her OH had taken off a condom when they were having sex and I think she originally posted about that). I think of her often and hope she is ok - the last I remember was she didn’t see an exit out but had managed to find a job.

Pechanga · 31/12/2020 14:51

That's reminded me if the one where the posters abusive and controlling DH refused her food, and she would eat things like pizza slices out of the food recycling caddy.

She did eventually get out I think....she received so much support on here.

I always wonder about the babies that come from the line eyes threads.

Andante57 · 31/12/2020 15:14

I remember a thread about a haunted office in a former mill in Essex. It sounded genuinely frightening with locked doors flying open, writing in blood, things moving around the office and so on.
The replies were a mixture of ‘don’t be ridiculous, op, ghosts don’t exist’ and ‘Oooh tell us more’.
Sadly the thread was pulled because either the op or another poster gave away the exact location.
I always wondered what happened to the poster and her office.

I'm pretty sure that one deleted for being made up

There should be a topic for this thread as it's often the same ones that come up every time, it would it much easier to find out whether there'd been a resolution rather than relying on memories

ByersRd · 31/12/2020 15:34

So well written by the OP and PP's.

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 31/12/2020 15:36

It’s a recent one and got deleted because the OP was recognised, but I really want to know if the DH who gave her a Henry Hoover for Christmas has apologised yet.

Andante57 · 31/12/2020 15:44

Oh no! I was completely taken in by it as the op sounded genuinely scared and I wasn’t the only one - I remember a very disappointed poster saying he/she had been looking forward to going on with the thread when she finished work.
How did the moderators know it was made up?

I know of a child called Atlas 😳

I want to know what happened with the woman and her neighbour who was putting whale pics through her door.

Postagequestion · 31/12/2020 15:51

There was a woman a couple years back who thought her DP/DH may have been drugging her at night and filming her. It was very disturbing and I have often thought about her ever since. Maybe it was just a troll or something, I do hope so.

Also the lovely lady who had become estranged from her DD and son in law. They got back in touch but then her husband became very ill. I really hope they are all doing OK.

MrsMoastyToasty · 31/12/2020 15:54

I wonder about the lady who was helping a hoarder friend clear his house. There was some reference to elephants.
Also, the Softzilla lady .

misskatamari · 31/12/2020 15:56

@Andante57 omg the haunted office one! I remember that! I think that was one of the first ones I properly got sucked into when I first found mumsnet. Loads of people were trying to figure out exact locations I remember, altho yes, probably did end up being totally made up.

I got sucked into the one where the women's housemate had a Barbour jacket and accused her of ripping it. It got very troll hunty by the end and didn't get resolved I don't think

giantangryrooster · 31/12/2020 15:56

@Postagequestion, you mean the second lobsterboy thread? Often wonder about that.

Also the poster moving to NZ with husband and couldn't leave with her dc and had sick parent in uk, thread stopped abruptly.

Ah yeah that clearing thread was amazing. She was such a lovely lady. I'm going to try and find that now
