Ode to my Shark Vacuum cleaner - how do I hate thee? Let me count the ways

Is it because you block every time I use you. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Is it because even after spending 20 minutes unblocking you, then vacuuming after, you block again and spew everything out all over the floor the moment I switch you off, and I then have to do the unblocking rigmarole all over again.

Is it because you block not in one place but in three places, which can take multiple implements and 20 minutes to unblock.

Is it because the brushes are so harsh they have considerably hastened the need to replace the hall and stairs carpet.

Do not do what I did last year on a mumsnet recommendation and get one in the sales, I nearly launched ours out my bedroom window this afternoon.

I love ours!

cocopops · 30/12/2020 17:11

Speak to customer services- they were excellent when I had a blockage on mine. They sent me so many replacement parts I almost ended up with a new machine.

I wouldn’t swap mine for anything.

Nighthawker · 30/12/2020 17:12

I love my Shark, had mine for a year now without any issues. So much better than the crappy vax I had before.

My Dyson was like that. My Shark is not.

I love love love mine. Goodbye Henry.

DramaAlpaca · 30/12/2020 17:17

I have a Vax handheld like that. I've always regretted buying it and wished I'd got a Shark instead. From what you've said, perhaps not.

Fourcolourpens · 30/12/2020 17:17

Hate mine. As you say, blocks every time it’s used, takes forever to undo all the components and clear, wastes battery power on pointless lights, fiddly little fucker.

AvoidingNextdoorNeighbour · 30/12/2020 17:21

That's a shame. I've had mine almost two years and it's never blocked yet.

CatFaceCats · 30/12/2020 17:22

I love mine!
The Hoover that came with my rented house was beyond useless, and the amount of stuff my shark has lifted has been amazing!

EverythingsComingUpRoses · 30/12/2020 17:22

I hate my shark and I'm very resentful that I spent so much on it

Anti-hair wrap my arse, can't cope with anything bigger than a grain of rice and the tools wobble about and have barely any suction if you use them with the extension thingy

Grrrrr

Belleende · 30/12/2020 17:24

Hmmmm. I cannot believe that any of these anywhere in the world are even vaguely functional, given how utterly dismal mine is. I can only assume you are bots (except @Fourcolourpens obvs)

I've had A Shark for years, recently upgraded to a new shiny Shark... I HATE it..!!! I feel sad every time I need to vacuum now, clunky, fiddly, gives me the rage..!! We kept the old one to do the cars with, I sometimes stare at it, wishing it still worked well enough to come back into my house and be a part of my family again 😬

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 30/12/2020 17:26

I hear you. Mine is the worst biggest pile of shit I’ve ever bought in my entire life.

I hate the bastard blocking non-sucky up - spits out all the bits everywhere thing. Bag of shite.

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 30/12/2020 17:27

And the one I got got five stars on Amazon - who are these people giving it five stars!!!????

WhoaBettyWhite · 30/12/2020 17:27

I agree.. Anti hair wrap killed it for me..!!!

HasaDigaEebowai · 30/12/2020 17:28

My vax is a pile of crap too. Henry has to come out every time since the vax just isn’t up to the job

AvoidingNextdoorNeighbour · 30/12/2020 17:29

Maybe it's the anti-hair wrap thingy causing it to block up? I don't have that feature as I opted for the slightly cheaper model at the time. Only thing I have to do is occasionally yank hairs off the roller. Nothing I haven't done for the past 30 years with all hoovers.

LegoAndLolDolls · 30/12/2020 17:29

I hate my shark too. It blocks on everything and sucks up everything within a foots reach to get blocked. I especially hate how it sucks up power leads even when I dont Hoover over them.

Mine, is a arsehole. It hates me. It's a mutual feeling.

LegoAndLolDolls · 30/12/2020 17:30

Liars who never hover with it
Fourcolourpens · 30/12/2020 17:32

Mine is pre-anti hair wrap. Still grinds to a halt if a microscopic piece of fluff needs vacuuming up...

I want to buy a new vacuum, but can’t trust any online reviews, we got this fucker because it was highly recommended/5*..

Ridingthegravytrain · 30/12/2020 17:32

Wait until the roller stops rolling and you have to get it going with your fingers every time...and then the screw holding the head unit together shears off and it stops standing upright. And then they tell you it’s wear and tear (within the warranty period 😂)

Sexnotgender · 30/12/2020 17:33

I’ve got an upright shark I got in the Black Friday amazon sale. It seems ok so far?

SoupDragon · 30/12/2020 17:33

Liars who never hover with it

Have to admit I have never hovered with mine.

lljkk · 30/12/2020 17:34

I am grateful that My Shark is "ok" (as opposed to terrible).
I think our Dysons picked up more, had more suck, hate to admit it!
