OK fair enough. I empathise a lot with Hancock's lack of polish and clear unease when being interviewed. That said I'm not a government minister (or so I say..)

Tiers may well be scrapped due to national lockdown. And just because he's not announcing it, doesn't mean someone else won't....

Quite disgustingly he said in the today prog radio 4 just now that he ‘didn’t want to steal Williamson’s thunder’ by saying anything about education - as if it’s a bloody game show ! He also answered q about s in nhs with the word ‘vocation’. I swear if I hear that again in the absence of respect and pay rises and investment I will scream ! Phew. Infuriating interview.
I know, that infuriated me too! Question about overwhelmed NHS & he says well they all went to work for the NHS to care for people Hmm

He said no Tier 5 as such at the moment but certainly implied that lots more areas will go into Tier 4.

Good luck with that. I had to report another thread of fake news twice a couple of days ago before MN took any action. You wouldn't think that MN was run by an ex-journalist. The admins have little regard for the facts as long as the 'debate' is interesting.

The Scottish government said the same about schools at the end of November, and then changed their minds. I wouldn't hold your breath OP, have you forgotten how many U turns the government has done this year, like the Christmas 5 day break for example?

Velvian he's trying to reach a broad cross section with his message.

The major broadcasters all have studios in the same building at Millbank, near Parliament, which makes it easier for politicians to do this.

From the Guardian, when asked if the current tiered measures will be broadened, Hancock said: "Yes, I'm going to set out the details of that to the House of Commons this afternoon." I'm taking that to mean, Tier 4 will have stronger measures, so Tier 5 but called Tier 4.

That was exactly my reaction. Hospitals in London unable to take patients, infections still out of control and they act like a bunch of stupid schoolboys.

Ah yes but doncha know that vocational careers can pay their mortgages and feed their kids with magic beans? Except for MPs who positively need a lucrative sideline in lobby payments to fill the gap between their 80K starting salary (plus generous expenses and second home allowances) to keep the wolf from their doors.

Williamson will be making a statement to parliament later about the schools, as he is the Education Minister - it is his job (not Hancock's).
