@StealthPolarBear

Urgh just read on the BBC that they plan to put hartlepool in tier 4. Assuming thay is the case everyone in hartlepool will just travel to do the t3 stuff we in the North East are currently enjoying. What is the difference between 3 and 4? Is it the number of people you can meet outside?
Non essential retail closed, stay at home except if you have a legitimate reason. You can still meet one person one on one in an outdoor public place if socially distanced.
Sup1979 · 30/12/2020 08:13

@Quornflakegirl

I read OP post as no additional tiers not that tiers are ending. It's common sense really.
And you are correct

What was actually said re schools?

StealthPolarBear · 30/12/2020 08:14

Thanks loudbat, was just having a Google. People in hartlepool will just go to shops etc in neighbouring areas.

lubeybooby · 30/12/2020 08:15

you do know politicians take every opportunity to lie and twist things right, and the current history of u turns... don't trust a word of it

RememberSelfCompassion · 30/12/2020 08:16

Not evennsure what you could put ina tier 5.

I want to know about schools .
I am so excited about the vaccine!!!

borageforager · 30/12/2020 08:17

He’s on R4 right now. Just talking about the vaccine. Switch over & get it direct!

@StealthPolarBear just like in full lockdown, brits in Tier 4 can only leave their homes for essential reasons.

In tier 3, people are permitted to leave their houses as they choose, providing they follow social distancing when out and about.

All exercise in Tiers 3 and 4 is unlimited - unlike in the first lockdown, when it was initially restricted to just an hour a day

People in tier 4 can still go to work - but only as a last resort if they cannot work from home.

Brits living in Tier 4 areas are not allowed to meet other households inside or stay overnight anywhere else. One person can meet one other person outside in a public place.

But those in tier 3 are permitted to meet others outside using the rule of 6.

In Tier 3 areas, all shops including non essential retails remain open. In tier 4 all of those shops must close apart from super markers, hardware stores, gardens centres, banks, post offices, pet shops, petrol stations and pharmacies.

Tier 3 areas could have hair dressers, barbers and beauty salons open including gyms.

However Tier 4... all personal care and venues such as cinemas and gyms are ordered to shut.

Hope this helps.

StealthPolarBear · 30/12/2020 08:22

Thanks.

MakeTeaNotWar · 30/12/2020 08:24

He's just said the Education Secretary will be setting out details later today 😬

Attictroll · 30/12/2020 08:24

Lost sleep worrying about primary school closures - I really don’t want to see dc in that position again.

Unescorted · 30/12/2020 08:25

On R4 he has just said Williamson is making education announcement later today. So Hancock isn't making an announcement, but that does not mean that someone else is not making announcements.

borageforager · 30/12/2020 08:25

From what he said just now on R4 - He’s setting out extensions to tier 4 later today and they want to protect education as much as possible, but the new variant makes it easier for the disease to transmit, so they will do what they can to protect education. Gavin to announce later... So he definitely didn’t make an announcement saying schools will be open on R4 anyway, it was wait & see.

oxydrive73 · 30/12/2020 08:26

Non essential shops shut in tier four,

I was listening. What he actually said was -
"I'm not announcing anything above Tier 4 today."

Andrew Castle (host) has just literally noted that he couldn't draw MH onto what areas would move - it will be announced in the Commons later

HeronLanyon · 30/12/2020 08:30

Quite disgustingly he said in the today prog radio 4 just now that he ‘didn’t want to steal Williamson’s thunder’ by saying anything about education - as if it’s a bloody game show !
He also answered q about s in nhs with the word ‘vocation’. I swear if I hear that again in the absence of respect and pay rises and investment I will scream !
Phew. Infuriating interview.

StealthPolarBear · 30/12/2020 08:31

It is just a way of saying a bit more politely that he needs to leave that to Williamson. He's just trying to make light of refusing to answer

UntamedWisteria · 30/12/2020 08:32

Well on Radio 4 he said they will be announcing extensions to Tier 4 later today.

And that Williamson will be announcing education measures too.

Really annoys me when people spout Fake News on here - try and be more careful OP.

HeronLanyon · 30/12/2020 08:33

I want leadership not making light of things - think boris has surely used up all buffoonery/making light of things allowance for the whole lot of them. Blush

Velvian · 30/12/2020 08:34

Did he try to squeeze out a tear again? That was the most painful TV I have seen since Corbyn smacked that woman in the boob.

HeronLanyon · 30/12/2020 08:34

I wanted that emoji to denote anger but I see it’s a ‘blush’ now I am making light of my own feelings ! Grrr

DobbleQueen · 30/12/2020 08:35

I've reported this as fake news and also please use the Coronavirus board Angry

I've come off Facebook to avoid this hysteria.

Rosehip10 · 30/12/2020 08:35

@honeybooboo1394 why do some people keep perpetuating falsehoods - there was NEVER a legal restriction on the amount of exercise that could be taken outside, even in the first lockdown and no, Gove "suggesting" one hour a day in an interview is not the law.

EssentialHummus · 30/12/2020 08:35

So no changes today then, leaving us about 4 days for a "Waffle waffle cavalry coming over the horizon alas vaccine schools shut" style announcement in early Jan?
