We received a toastie maker as a family gift for Christmas. So far we’ve only tried ham and cheese or tuna and cheese and I’m keen to try out some other ideas.
What’s your best toastie recipe?

Cherry tomatoes, Applewood smoked cheese and basil leaves, spool good!

Nutella and marshmallows on white bread. It's the reason I'm fat. Grin

DayBath · 29/12/2020 12:39

Not sure where spool came from! Should have been 'soooo good'

Poppyolive90 · 29/12/2020 12:41

Tomato, mozzarella and pesto
Smoked cheese and salami

Samosas.

Actually I usually do cheese but samosas can be cooked / warmed in a toastie maker.

I think there was a spike in sales of toasted sandwich makers after this thread got going: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/2585361-pancakes-in-the-sandwich-toaster-Ive-died-and-gone-to-heaven?msgid=60231416

My post disappeared Hmm it’s a conspiracy theory to stop me sharing my best ever toastie recipe - extra mature cheddar and red onion on white bread. 🤫

ErrolTheDragon · 29/12/2020 12:43

Ham (sometimes Parma), chutney of some sort esp caramelised onion and applewood slices - they're made for the job.

Superstardjs · 29/12/2020 12:44

Cheese and pineapple are epic.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/12/2020 12:44

If I've got leftover roasted veg esp red pepper I use that instead of the chutney.

PTW1234 · 29/12/2020 12:44

I toasted a ham and cheese croissant in mine the other day.

I usually do cheese and chorizo, or cheese and beans with some chilli sauce

I try using a shop bought naan bread and some pieces of chicken tikka and cheese

Brie, bacon + cranberry.

Strong cheddar + mango chutney on naan.

Halloumi + honey (sounds weird I know but works!).

Gruyère, chorizo + chilli jam.

Leftover steak, mozzarella, pasta sauce, basil = pizzaiola toastie.

mrsbyers · 29/12/2020 12:47

Chilli and cheese
Cheese and onion
Cheese and beans

EverythingsComingUpRoses · 29/12/2020 12:47

Ham, cheese and tomato ketchup

It's like pizza in a toastie

Even better - almond butter and a scattering of plain chocolate bits.
Crinkle77 · 29/12/2020 13:01

I like to do an egg. You've got to make a well in the bread to stop it leaking everywhere and and stick the lid on quick. Just keep an eye on it and test it with a fork to see if it's cooked but don't over do it. Yummy!

DelphineWalsh · 29/12/2020 13:04

Bacon, Brie and chilli jam

CharlieSays13 · 29/12/2020 13:04

Chorizo and strong red chedder!

TheIrishRover · 29/12/2020 13:07

Just the usual but yesterday made one from left over Christmas ham, cranberry sauce and bread sauce. Was absolutely delicious.
