I'm have quite cheap tastes in general but I have to have Kellogg's cornflakes. Other brands are just cardboard.

Coffee
Pasta

Tartyflette · 26/12/2020 07:13

Good quality, high thread-count bed linen.
Goosedown pillows.
Home made marmalade ( lower sugar, much better orange flavour)
Coffee. Freshly ground.
Unsalted French butter.
Bacon from a local producer, thick cut, with rind. Proper bacon comes with rind. Cut it off after cooking if you don't want to eat its crispy, salty gorgeousness.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/12/2020 07:26

Bedding
Waitrose
Coffee beans, I will know if it’s got robusta.
Aveda shampoo.

I buy sp beans though happily though.

SpeckledyHen · 26/12/2020 07:33

Only buy food in Waitrose. Happy to buy cleaning stuff in Aldi as it’s lots cheaper than Waitrose but won’t compromise otherwise.

justanotherneighinparadise · 26/12/2020 07:51

Reading all of this I am obviously not a snob at all!! I thought I was but I have no preference for anything expensive it seems.

Mydogisagentleman · 26/12/2020 07:54

Coffee
Butter
Hellman’s
Heinz soup

LongPauseNoAnswer · 26/12/2020 07:59

Coffee (has to be Italian - Lavazza Oro or Illy Classico).
Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are only ever L’Occitane
Kerrygold butter or nothing
Chocolate from local Swiss artisan chocolatier or Lindt 90%
Underwear is cotton or silk, no man made fibers
Kiehl’s or Shiseido face creams

urbanmist · 26/12/2020 08:02

Butter.
The thought of margarine shudders

Cantbelievelife · 26/12/2020 08:07

Toilet roll - hate cheap stuff will bring my own on holidays.
Decent mattress - defs worth spending the money
Ketchup - heinz
Mince - steak mince less than 5% i hate the grease of others
Most other things I can deal with unbranded I think anyway lol

FluffyHippo · 26/12/2020 08:09

People less educated than me.
The underclass.

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 26/12/2020 08:10

Shoes have to be a decent brand so I am assured they will last. I only own a few pairs, but they are UGG, Dr Martens, Sorel, Sketchers etc. I won't buy cheap shoes.

Username642243 · 26/12/2020 08:16

Big TVs
Leather sofas
Anything from Next
Sky dishes
ITV family entertainment
Gravy granules

motorcyclenumptiness · 26/12/2020 08:18

Coffee - I relish the ritual of choosing beans, grinding them and making a good cup of coffee. Instant and pod coffee just doesn't hit the spot.

zigaziga · 26/12/2020 08:19

Fairy liquid

Children’s shoes - my children (young) have one pair of shoes at a time, until they go up a size, but they’re good shoes.

Mooselaurels · 26/12/2020 08:21

High definition TV. If it's not in HD, I don't watch it.

Ginfordinner · 26/12/2020 08:23

Butter not marge
Holidays. We don't go anywhere expensive or long haul, but the thought of going AI or to somewhere like Benidorm, Magaluf or Dubai is very unappealing
Gin. I'm not a fan of flavoured gins. IMO they are for people who don't like gin.
Another Fevertree tonic water fan here, although the artificial sweetener free Schweppes is nice as well.
Artificial sweeteners in drinks taste horrible. Give me the non diet version every time.

FrangipaniBlue · 26/12/2020 08:24

I'm a holiday snob. I'd rather stay home than set foot anywhere like Benidorm or Tenerife.

It's the reason we rarely holiday abroad. I refuse to go on a cheap package holiday but DH refuses to pay the eye watering prices of the places I'd prefer to go to 🤣

myfatiguehastiredness · 26/12/2020 08:28

Gravy. I am a gravy snob. I don't understand why you need gravy granules. Just make it in the roasting pan, water, cornflour and the boiled veg water, wine, salt, stir. Goes brown from the brown roasting gunk. Done. I make really good gravy.
Pillows. Love a good pillow with decent cotton pillowcases. People who don't double or triple pillowcase (although granted if you've got a pillow protector on you don't have to.
People who can't display basic manners, eat like pigs and seem unable to teach their children to consider others. This has absolutely nothing to do with income, profession or class. Just inconsiderate people.

BikeRunSki · 26/12/2020 08:28

Tea - Yorkshire
Bikes, outdoor kit, wool jumper - not acrylic

whiteroseredrose · 26/12/2020 08:29

Acrylic clothes
Fake sweeteners. Fever Tree use fructose which is fine. All the others are bleuch.

The above cut out lots of food and clothes for me.

trevthecat · 26/12/2020 08:31

Fairy liquid
Toilet paper
Hellman's mayo
Walker's crisps
Other than those I'm quite a snob about shopping local. I try to get what I can from local butcher/ fruit and veg etc. Always get told it's time consuming which it is at first but now if I don't have time to wonder down to the local shops I ring and it's delivered to me.

Swearwolf · 26/12/2020 08:33

Butter! It doesn't have to be expensive, the basic stuff will do, but it has to be real butter. If I'm offered something with spread I'd rather give the whole sandwich/potato/toast etc a miss.

Ginfordinner · 26/12/2020 08:34

@FrangipaniBlue we have managed to get away to some pretty nice, low key places by booking a package holiday. People who write off all package holidays as being the same are missing a trick.

DinosApple · 26/12/2020 08:38

I don't buy expensive things generally, however, I do drink nice, very expensive, cognac. DH gives me this for Christmas.

But I do prefer quality, value for money and not being wasteful, so I try to buy at auction for furniture and paintings.
It also doesn't need to be expensive.
My paintings cost between £5- 70, and I only buy what I like. Plus, if you get bored of either the furniture or the paintings you can resell it again.
