I would say for me soda , can't buy the cheap versions of coke.

Definitely holidays - I would never go on an all inclusive holiday. Holidays for me are about experiencing a new place; I don’t care about the hotel as it’s only a place to sleep and we don’t spend any other time there as we’re out and about sightseeing, visiting local restaurants etc. I also like camping for the back to nature aspect. We stayed at a beautiful campsite in the Lake District last year that I would rather visit again than a 5* in Dubai!

I don’t really care about brands - I’m more particular about ingredients/qualities of a product e.g. baked beans have to be without added sugar but I’m not fussy between Heinz and Tesco.

I am a bit of an eco snob as well in the judgmental rather than personal preference sense - I apologise to the PP who posted that she drinks bottled water but that’s a huge no-no for me. I live in a hard water area too, just get a filter. Similarly, people who drive huge cars/SUVs/4x4s but live in urban areas.

@Janegrey333 where are people supposed to put their bookcases if not against the wall? Confused

LaBellina · 27/12/2020 12:57

Hotels. I love the swanky ones.
Perfume. I hate cheap smelling stuff.
Shoes. They don't have to be a certain brand but they should be made of leather.

SmallChrismas · 27/12/2020 12:57

Lidl does some great stuff.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 27/12/2020 13:04

Thought of another one, I don’t much like the taste of full fat milk in coffee, so will buy semi-skimmed or skimmed for preference.

Not a fan of Gordon’s gin, but if I’m drunk I’ll drink most things :o

GreekOddess · 27/12/2020 13:07

Instant coffee and gravy granules
Smoking
Toilet humour
Sexist outdated humour
Putting ketchup on food where it has no place, I can understand people putting it on chips even though I don't like the taste myself but I've seen people put it on roast dinners 🤮
People who see prison as a rite of passage

DemolitionBarbie · 27/12/2020 13:11

Take aways. I can't stand big standard Chinese or Indian, when it seems indistinguishable from a ready meal Xmas Shock

DemolitionBarbie · 27/12/2020 13:12

Bog standard not big standard

peaceanddove · 27/12/2020 13:20

I do think that like attracts to like? When our DCs started school I was friendly towards all the other new Mums. Gradually, I winnowed out the ones I didn't have much in common with and kept the ones I really liked. Now, nearly 14 years later, we're still very close and see each other all the time. And, I realise that while we're from fairly diverse economic backgrounds, we're all well educated with the same sense of humour. That's what matters to me. I might love my Range Rover but couldn't care less what cars my friends drive.

Never waste your time, or energy on people who judge you purely on your material assets.

peaceanddove · 27/12/2020 13:21

Sorry, my post was meant for former babe

wetasstenalady · 27/12/2020 13:24

There's a huge difference between personal preference and snobbery. Snobbery is a very unattractive quality and speaks more about someone's own insecurities
Personal preferences are different. I will only use bamboo bed sheets now ive tried them but that doesn't mean I give a shit or judge those who use polyester

Clevererthanyou · 27/12/2020 14:34

Cunts. I prefer them to be locally sourced and organic . Not the ones I've found on this thread for instance, they're all sorts of wrong.

dayslikethese1 · 27/12/2020 14:42

I agree snobby implies judgement. I don't really care about any of the things mentioned but if I say I prefer filter coffee to instant that's not snobby is it? I'd drink instant if there was nothing else available just to get my morning caffeine fix though Grin

dayslikethese1 · 27/12/2020 14:43

A lot of Lidl haters here I notice, I must have bad taste cos I love Lidl and basically buy everything there.

goose1964 · 27/12/2020 14:50

Beer, doesn't have to be a huge brand but definitely nothing like Carling, Stella, Carlsberg etc. The only lager I will drink outside an Indian restaurant is Budweiser Budvar ( Czech not American)

Yes, not so much ‘snobby’ about, more like ‘particular’ about.

Ha. I meant sofas etc.

This is meant to be amusing? Your vulgarity clearly suggests you have high self esteem.
Hawkins001 · 27/12/2020 15:35

I guess sometimes it's when it's too cheap and tastes different that is usually puts me off, eg cheap of the cheap tea bags, usually they are ok, but some batches it's like milky tea or a strange taste, the same at times with biscuits, when it's the cheap of the cheap taste issues ect

Copperzippedup · 27/12/2020 17:03

@MissMarks

Such as yourself Janegray- picking on people’s level of literacy is hideous.
I agree, very poor manners.
DillonPanthersTexas · 27/12/2020 17:21

I agree snobby implies judgement

Which is not necessarily a bad thing. When I see the bloke with his shirt off in the summer walking down the high street with a can of lager I am definitely judging him negatively.

I think there's a difference between snobbisness about behaviour and snobbishness about material possessions.

Same - I have my preferences but I like to think I could live a simple life and be content, if needed.
DillonPanthersTexas · 27/12/2020 17:35

To a degree. Being a snob towards someone for being poor and unable to afford to shop at waitrose is one thing, judging someone who has money but appalling taste is quite another.

Best post on the thread.
