It’s not one or the other is it? You don’t ring bells and that makes you a grinch? Says who?

We don’t own bells. At 6 pm we will be inside , bathing the baby and putting her into pyjamas for her first Christmas, fully supported by DS5 and Ddog, listening to Christmas music and getting ready to do bedtime and order me and spouse a takeaway. Mulled gin will be on the brew.

Sounds grinchy?

PurpleDaisies · 24/12/2020 13:54

Is this a thing? It must have passed me by.

Clockstop · 24/12/2020 13:55

No, was tempted to get an air horn to annoy the other neighbourly people at the same time though. Bloody bells.

Realistically though, how many people have a bell knocking around the house?

Have seen dozens of people selling them on FB selling pages. Really cute for younger kids Xmas Grin

What fresh hell is this?

Crappyfridays7 · 24/12/2020 14:02

I have bells, all over the house that my kittens have stolen off the tree
So if there is any bell ringing it’ll be them. Kids are at their dads and I don’t think they are ringing bells either. For mine it would be why we doing this...bit like the oats for the reindeer just out getting cold when we could be in nice and warm
So I’m a grinch it seems 😂😂😂

Mrsjayy · 24/12/2020 14:03

The woman who started it on Facebook was saying pretty pointless things about it on the news yesterday bless her. I'm not jingling my bells for nobody but let others crack on they are not doing any harm !

dingit · 24/12/2020 14:03

I asked dh if we will. He said it was ridiculous. So he didn't look like a fucking idiot banging the biggest saucepan he could find for 6 weeks, did he Grin

S0CKS · 24/12/2020 14:03

Absolutely not, the dogs would be going batshit crazy.
Whose it meant to acknowledge anyway?

ParkheadParadise · 24/12/2020 14:03

No way am I standing outside ringing a fucking bell (the only bell we have is in dd's bike 😂😂😂) it's bloody Baltic outside.
I will be inside drinking lots of alcohol 🍷 and telling dd to ask her daddy if Santa has left the north pole yet.
Merry Christmas Everyone 🥂🎅🥂

soundsystem · 24/12/2020 14:04

Ha our youngest's nursery was giving us daily reminders about this. In the form of terrible poetry. For the past week.

I'm not sure if we own bells..

We'll be doing other festive things at the time so nit planning to, although I guess if everyone else is we'll run out to join in Grin

JohnMcClane · 24/12/2020 14:05

This is why I closed my Facebook account

madroid · 24/12/2020 14:05

The bells are to foster a sense of community for those forced to be on their own this year I think?

I'm forced to be on my own this year, for fucks sake please don't do this for me

😂😂

Honestly, if I were spending Christmas alone then a load of sanctimonious bell jangling wouldn't make me feel any less isolated; it'd just piss me off!

The issue with this is many do it to be seen and then go and break the rules. Sad but true that’s what helps Ed with the clapping.

I could not stand the hypocrisy after a while.

Clapping one minute abs then having loads of friends over for a BBQ. Sad to say but true.

It’s as if they thought the clap was penance for the rule breaking

Mrsjayy · 24/12/2020 14:15

Isn't it for children to jingle for Santa or something? People kept trying to add me to a FB group. Bugger that !
