What TV shows have you absolutely loved that have been cancelled after one season. Loads for me but 3 that stand out are

Ringer
Flashforward
Away (just heard this has been cancelled which has prompted this thread)

Alcatraz was cancelled half way though thr first season! Also agree Flashforward, and I wanted another You Me and the Apocalypse, although I think that was only planned to be one season.

@BarryGlendenning

North Square Party Animals
I came on to say North Square! It was brilliant and I really wish they'd done another series. So much fun.

The Crimson Field, I’d have loved this to show four years of a nursing hospital in France, with all the crap that’s on I was gutted, not enough casualty 1900s either.

FaintlyMacabre · 21/12/2020 20:04

Ascension was great- totally ridiculous on every level but we really enjoyed it- would love to see another season.

OhLittleBoreOfWhabylon · 21/12/2020 20:04

Messiah (Netflix)

LJC1234 · 21/12/2020 20:06

Nooo I can't believe they have cancelled away! I need to know if they all get back from Mars

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 21/12/2020 20:07

The Living and The Dead! BBC ghost/paranormal drama set in Victorian era. There was much demand for a second series, lost hope that the BBC are going to make anymore now Sad

It's on Amazon prime.

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel

I can’t remember what it was called, probably Ambassadors, but there was a great sitcom with David Mitchell as a jaded British ambassador. Iirc Robert Webb was a Julian Assange figure holed up in his embassy. Anyway it was funny and could have done with more seasons.
Oh yes, loved that one!

Especially Tom Hollander as the obnoxious Prince Andrew figure.

ikltownofboothlehem · 21/12/2020 20:09

Almost Human - Karl Urban futurey type show. Really good.

insertcleverusername · 21/12/2020 20:10

Lie To Me was a great series that got cancelled too soon, not sure if anyone remembers it, it starred Tim Roth

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 21/12/2020 20:10

Yes! He was brilliant!

Evenstar · 21/12/2020 20:12

@thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter I was gutted they didn’t make another series of The Living and The Dead 😭

drigon · 21/12/2020 20:15

The one with Ioan Gruffudd as a time travelling coroner, can't remember the name, but it was cancelled after 1 season.

Positivelypatient · 21/12/2020 20:16

I loved 'Our Zoo' it was about how Chester Zoo started. It was delightful and I hoped they would make a 2nd series but they never did :(

Tallpaulwho · 21/12/2020 20:19

The Fades on BBC. Amazing show, after it was cancelled a lot of the cast went on to be big stars. Daniel Kaluya for example.

AnnabelDickson · 21/12/2020 20:21

I fell in love with The After. They didn't even make a series out of it lol- just the pilot. It was the best thing I'd seen for ages and I was gutted.

I've just started watching it on my Kindle while waiting at the dentist office, thanks, it looks brilliant.
GreenClock · 21/12/2020 20:21

A series set in c1920 in Liverpool called Lillies. I caught it on dvd a few years ago but it aired originally on a Friday night during the football World Cup apparently, so viewing figures were poor.

SuddenArborealStop · 21/12/2020 20:22

@Lurleene it didn't resolve. Its one of my favourites and I rewatch all the time. Here's an article on what the plan was if it hadn't been cancelled

EnPoinsettia · 21/12/2020 20:23

Stumptown. It was renewed but then axed due to Covid related filming difficulties. Really enjoyed it.

mommybunny · 21/12/2020 20:24

Dickensian. My DCs loved it and it got my DD actually reading Dickens! There was so much more they could have done with it, but the BBC kept moving it around the schedule and there was no pattern to when it would be on.

BarryGlendenning · 21/12/2020 20:24

@GreenClock Lillies was brilliant.

LovingLen · 21/12/2020 20:26

The Event - it was cancelled after 1 season.

Toomanyparsnips · 21/12/2020 20:26

Ooh yes, My So Called Life. The last episode was devastating - I was so gutted that she got off with nerdy annoying Brian Kracow (sp?). Obviously at 16 I couldn't tell what a dick Jordan was and was totally in love with him. And we NEVER FOUND OUT who she ended up with. Brutal.
