Imho some of the best: Amazon, Argos, Naked Wines, Skinnytan, AO, EE.
All great, no quibbles, friendly and helpful.

Worst: Sports Direct, Holland & Barrett, Zara.

Best: Amazon, I've also found IKEA very good eg for two different kitchens in places we rented they sent replacement doors / drawers which were damaged due to leaks (washing machine and sink) completely free of charge, a few years after each kitchen had been installed.
Worst: Scottish power, EDF energy.

Mangofandangoo · 22/12/2020 19:09

Best: wayfair, Amazon, tesco

Worst: NEXT

Twinkie01 · 22/12/2020 19:11

Oh and Glen Dimplex who make every fucking cooker you can buy in the UK. 8 weeks I was without an oven this autumn.

Worst - Vodafone by a country mile.

When I moved country, they rang me up to persuade me to stay. I told them I was moving abroad, they apologised for the call. They rang me again. And again. And again.

36 times.

Sorka · 27/12/2020 01:39

Best: John Lewis, Amazon

Worst:
B&Q. Ordered and paid for a bathroom suite. They phoned me the day before delivery to tell me the bath I had bought was out of stock. I asked how this could be when I had paid weeks before. I think they sold my bath to someone else then realise they’d messed up. I had workmen coming to fit the new bathroom so had to rush out and buy a new bath. I had a very narrow space to fit the bath and had specifically ordered the only one in the shop that would fit. I had to take out a chunk of wall to fit in the replacement. B&Q were very matter of fact like this is something that happens every day and seemed to think I was being precious for being put out. They were unapologetic and didn’t compensate me. They wanted to charge me more for the new bath Hmm

Anglian Windows, for turning up to quote 30 minutes late at 7pm despite having phoned me to confirm 6 times that day, then staying in my house for 2 hours until 9pm and refusing to leave until I bought something. I had to place an order and cancel the next day. At one point I even had the front door open, stood pointing out of it and telling the salesman to leave Angry

fastwigglylines · 27/12/2020 01:50

Talk Talk need to win some kind of prize for being the worst.

SpeckledyHen · 27/12/2020 01:58

Best - John Lewis . Refunded us £2000 , the full price of a plasma TV 4 years and five months after buying it because they were unable to repair a tiny fault with it because technology had moved on so far . Took 3 days from the day they collected it to inspect it . Left a replacement in the meantime .

Worst - Parcelforce . Lost guitar my son sold , insured postage.
Took months to get claim paid, then only partial, impossible to speak to anyone. Disgusting.
He only used them because Hermes misplaced the first one he sold but at least it did turn up after 3 weeks .

Vodafone make me want to jump from a high building into a concrete bath of nettles and lions. I actually feel stressed even typing this. Awful company.

Oh and our local Tesco seems to only employ people who don’t give a shit about their job.

Lannaaa · 27/12/2020 06:58

Amazon are amazing. So amazing that I don’t care they didn’t pay tax Wink

SadderThanEeyore · 27/12/2020 10:35

I've found the opposite from amazon recently. They've lied and been generally poor, I appreciate these are difficult times but they shouldn't lie to customers.

BadLad · 27/12/2020 10:38

Best - Amazon. I buy as much as I can through them, as I have more confidence in them to sort out any issues than I do in any other company.

Worst - Barclays

KarenMarlow3 · 27/12/2020 10:41

Best, Amazon & Ocado. Worst, Virgin.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 27/12/2020 10:50

Interesting to see other people mentioning FitBit as I had a great experience with them recently. I ordered a Fitbit for DP but managed to mess up the order, by using a non-existent email address (I combined my work and personal addresses...Hmm). I contacted their live chat and spoke to a friendly and helpful actual person who said they couldn't change the order but he could cancel it and I could re-order. It was cancelled immediately. It was all just so easy and painless

On the flipside are JD Sports. I ordered something for DS, got a completely different item and when I finally got through to their customer service was basically told that it wasn't their problem. I had to go to the Post Office to return the item as they refused to send a courier to collect it, and the only way to get my money back was to do a PayPal claim. Awful experience and I'd never use them again.

Timeturnerplease · 27/12/2020 10:51

First Direct are brilliant at customer service.

motherrunner · 27/12/2020 11:05

Another Amazon fan here too. A few weeks ago I started wrapping presents and realised I was missing an item. Requested a call back expecting to wait for ages and was called within 5 minutes. The call handler asked whether I wanted the item sent out or refunded. I asked for a refund and not only did he refund it, he also reimbursed my delivery despite other items being delivered too. The Amazon delivery guys are also lovely!

AnneElliott · 27/12/2020 13:07

Best - Brabantia - they sent a replacement lid free of charge after I'd had the bin 7 years.

Worst - Virgin holidays. Never again. Cancelled our flight and the treatment we got was awful. Left my vulnerable friend alone in Orlando airport with nothing to drink or eat after specifically promising someone would take care of her.

makingmyway10 · 27/12/2020 13:24

Best. Waitrose, excellent customer service really nailed it several times this year.
Amazon have also been really great re returning products
Seasalt , excellent and speedy returns process and great customer service in store.

Worst- Boden, cancelled my order and have kept my payment. Customer services claim that they did not take it but my bank say they have taken it. I have been trying to dispute it with Visa since August! Will never shop with them again .

WanderingHopefully · 27/12/2020 13:36

Worst:
Vodafone, HMRC and Talk Talk by a mile. Also Howdens, Unique Cottages in Scotland, Sleep and Soak, Lush and John Lewis online.

Best:
Boden, Plusnet, Bulb, Hermes, Coquet Cottages, Knit Kit Company (outstanding).

TurquoiseDragon · 27/12/2020 13:47

Amazon and O2 recently for good service.

Also great service very recently at a local undertakers, at a time when everything has been so, so stressful.

doingitforthefrill · 27/12/2020 13:49

Best :
Amazon
Mountain warehouse

Worst :
Matalan, half my Christmas order wasn’t even packed, the rest of order which were breakables were just placed in the bag loosely without being bubble wrapped so were obviously smashed to pieces. They’ve shut their phone lines and I’ve emailed them twice within 3 weeks and had no response. So I’m £70 worse off with nothing to show.

My local Argos are absolute shite at customer service.

Hermès, as in the parcel courier is absolutely terrible.

ths1 · 27/12/2020 16:35

Best: Amazon, Tesco Mobile, AXA PPP, LV

Worst:
Land/Range Rover. Three years of the worst customer service imaginable, my car's constantly in their garage, they've pranged it twice whilst there and pretended it wasn't them (despite me taking photos whenever I drop off my car), never return calls, try to charge eye watering diagnostic fees for any fault even when the warranty people tell me they will cover these fees. Never ever again. My local garage may not have the fancy coffee machine and showroom but is a thousand times better.

GoPro (send me the identical email every single day for the last 8 weeks to resolve them charging me a totally different price than the price on their website, thankfully Amex lost patience with them too and refunded me).

ths1 · 27/12/2020 16:36

Actually I forgot to add British Airways to my list. Also dreadful and so frustrating to get any issues resolved.

megletthesecond · 27/12/2020 16:44

BT Openreach. Based purely on the fact their engineer left cable litter behind and they have ignored three requests to come and clear it up (I don't leave crap under my desk at work and neither should they). No email address just a hopeless Twitter team and a live chat that times out. At this rate I'll bag it and send to the CEO.

2magpies1pigeon · 27/12/2020 22:46

BT Openreach was unbelievably bad. Could have written a book about the experience.
