Imho some of the best: Amazon, Argos, Naked Wines, Skinnytan, AO, EE.
All great, no quibbles, friendly and helpful.

Worst: Sports Direct, Holland & Barrett, Zara.

2magpies1pigeon · 21/12/2020 13:42

Worst - fucking BT.

Crimples · 21/12/2020 19:28

Oh yes, I forgot Timpsons and SodaStream, both excellent.

It’s not a thread slagging off retail Hmm This year has been undeniably stressful for them so it’s nice to recognise when they do a good job.
Equally it doesn’t hurt to point out those that are lacking, often not because of what they sell, more often than not just because they don’t appear to care about the customers they do have.

GlossyBox.co.uk - Bloody awful. I've been waiting ages (6 weeks for a gift for christmas) I've emailed and been all over them on social media but nothing.

Amazon, Dunelm, M&S, Fat Face and John Lewis have been my lock down heroes, everything has gone so smoothly every time I've ordered anything.

vanillandhoney · 21/12/2020 19:46

Best: Amazon, Morrisons, FatFace, Costa, PetsAtHome.
Worst: ASDA, Trespass, Matalan, SKY.

vanillandhoney · 21/12/2020 19:48

@January21

Oh here we go.... let’s all slag off retail
Retail isn't beyond criticism. I say that as an ex-retail manager.

If shops are going to give consistently poor customer service, they deserve to be called out on it.

Fluffy40 · 21/12/2020 19:53

Richer sounds have always been great. Marks too.

Worst are all the telecom and energy companies.

Fleshlumpeater · 21/12/2020 20:01

Best - Dyson. We’ve always had great service when needing replacement parts. Of course DH argues that we shouldn’t keep needing replacement parts, maybe he’s got a point.

Justgivemewine · 21/12/2020 20:06

Lexus car dealership.
Dh was looking for a new company car, and saw a Lexus he really liked, so told me to go and have a look at it and see if it was suitable, so in I went with ds1(2yrs) and ds2(3 months) in the double buggy, probably looking abit rough due to lack of sleep, and got completely blanked and ignored.

Big mistake. Huge. I have to go shopping now. (At the Renault dealer next door who gave us a fantastic deal on a shiny brand new scenic) 😁

Some of the worst customer service I’ve had has been from tesco and argos, although argos redeemed themselves on other occasions, tesco never have so I avoid them like the plague.

Good service from AO, had lots of things from them, John Lewis, and our local village garage/repair shop who are lovely and know all their customers names on sight and don’t rip you off.

boredinthouse · 21/12/2020 20:12

But niche but Everything Dinosaur have always had amazing customer service.

Worst:
Yorkshire Bank (are they still on the go?)

MilkshakeandFries · 21/12/2020 20:20

Virgin absolute hideous, spent hours on the phone to them trying to resolve problems, explaining the same thing over and over to different people and getting nowhere.

Best - Wessex Water. Answer the phone quickly, respond really fast and keep you updated constantly.

turtletum · 21/12/2020 20:27

Best: EE, Sky, Babipur (sustainable toys, etc), M&S

Worst: Carphone warehouse, talk talk, DVLA

Gohackyourself · 21/12/2020 20:49

Best - Amazon
Worst..... the list is endless.... NatWest bank, TSB , virgin media..Boots, Homebase. All using covid as an excuse when they were shit before covid and now can hide behind it!

Spongebobsquarefringe · 21/12/2020 20:54

Fitbit are fab!

British Gas total shite, TUI also gets middle finger

Em8725 · 21/12/2020 20:54

Best: silentnight, Tesco, Barclays and Homebase.

Silentnight sent us the wrong mattresses, but were exceptionally quick to correct it, and let us keep the wrong ones too. We gave them away to relatives.

Worst: B&Q, IKEA, EE and BT.

BT tried to charge my Nan to cancel within her cooling off period, and told her they couldn’t stop an engineer entering her home. She was terrified and confused. When my other half got on the phone they quickly changed their minds, cancelled the charges and the engineer 🙄

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 21/12/2020 22:28

First Direct - exemplary as are Dyson and The Oodie (not their fault goods held at the EU border but a partial refund offered immediately as well as daily updates)
Worst by far I’ve ever experienced - John Lewis (faulty dishwasher - delivered faulty but even though they had no replacement they thought it was ok to still charge GBP50 for delivery and installation AND leave the non working dishwasher in my kitchen for two weeks til they unplumbed and removed it.

MellieNelba · 21/12/2020 23:08

I have got to be honest when my husband died Virgin Media were great. They sorted my mobile phone tariff to a really low one and they gave me some free months on the tv and internet to tide me over. They were very respectful on the phone - not reading from a script about sorry for your loss ( yes you Npower)

Longdistance · 21/12/2020 23:40

Best - Marks, Aldi, Lidl, Mercedes (rolled the red carpet out for me and did the same with my db. Glad I recommended them to him).

Worst- Virgin media and mobile, BT (couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery), Know how curry’s insurance 💩

ihatethecold · 22/12/2020 08:01

Travelbag have been excellent this year.
No drama getting back £££ for a Thailand family holiday.

I will definitely re book with them in future.

Jedimastermama · 22/12/2020 08:03

Worst - British Gas Angry

PopsicleHustler · 22/12/2020 08:05

Its not companies per say. But for example if I ring somewhere ie a store to chase something up or a company or the doctors or hospital, they are so lovely to me on the phone, yet when I arrive at reception, front desk, customer services am treated like crap because I am a white muslim and wear a headscarf. Yet moments ago you were perfectly lovely to me on the phone. And I am always polite and friendly back. It's my nature.

It's sad, really

But as for worst customer service, it's got to be Hermes. They failed to deliver numerous parcels in september for days, chasing them up is pointless
You're more likely to turn into Mr Blobby than speak to a person. You only can talk to a robot online or on the phone. Its terrible !

ihatethecold · 22/12/2020 08:10

Popsicle.
That’s awful. I’m sorry you experience this.

RosesAndHellebores · 22/12/2020 08:11

I think its interesting how branches vary. Sainsbury Wandsworth is utter hell but Sainsburys Epsom is marvellous.

SingleWontMingle · 22/12/2020 08:12

Wouldn't touch: BT/British Gas/Vodafone

Amazing Online Customer Service: Three/HSBC/IPVanish

PopsicleHustler · 22/12/2020 08:18

@ihatethecold

I get started and nudged and called names on a daily basis. I am used to it sadly and the ridiculous questions. I just get on with my day and wish people the best.
I'm not causing anyone any harm by covering my hair and believing in the lord.

It is what it is.

Hope you and your family are well.
