With one week to go I am starting to curate our festive cheese selection. So far we have

Soft goats cheese with cranberries and cinnamon
Pecorino
Danish blue
Applewood smoked cheddar
Brie
A really sharp cheddar which makes your face pinch

What's on yours?!

A vintage Cheddar that cuts the top of your mouth
I'm going to try to get some Yarg too

I love the Austrian smoked cheese that looks like a sausage. Delish

Comte
Clava Brie
500 day aged Gouda
Whisky smoked cheddar (I think, I bought it from the cheesemonger earlier today, it’s definitely whisky smoked)
Blue Stilton

Sexnotgender · 18/12/2020 13:00

Oh and a truffle cheese

Scarby9 · 18/12/2020 13:01

Northumbrian nettle (yum!)
Jarlsburg

12BottlesOfVintageChampagne · 18/12/2020 13:02

I've chosen three English cheeses this year - Cornish blue (creamy, mild blue), Hereford Hop ( cheddar-y) and Elmhirst (double cream, mould ripened), accompanied by some yummy Peter's Yard sourdough crackers 😋

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/12/2020 13:05

Yes to Peter's crackers!
Hereford Hop is nice - not had it for a long time.
Garners pickled onions, pickled shallots and red cabbage

Nowaynothappening · 18/12/2020 13:09

Really boring ones because none of us like blue or stinky cheeses Grin.

Boursin
Edam
Cranberry Wensleydale
Onion and chive double Gloucester
Red Leicester

guffaux · 18/12/2020 13:28

stilton
3 yr old cornish cruncher
brie de meaux
ossau iraty (was going to get manchego but saw this and thought I'd give it a go)

also have a baked camembert planned

might get some pecorino

nosswith · 18/12/2020 15:06

I hope you all enjoy yours. I would be unkind to my mum to have one (due to her medical dietary restrictions) and it will be one thing I will miss.

MaverickDanger · 18/12/2020 15:09

Godminster cheddar
Cashew blue
Gorgonzola
Camembert
Cornish Yarg
Comte
Double Gloucester
Baron Bigod
Brie
Wensleydale & Cranberry

Two or three different types of crackers and chutneys. Grapes and figs.

Probably slightly too much for two, but really hoping I’ve given birth before then so can make the most of the cheese I’ve missed!

bellagogosdead · 18/12/2020 16:08

Boursin
Cornish brie
Tickler
Capricorn goats cheese

dreamingbohemian · 18/12/2020 16:20

Valencay (goat's cheese)
Brillat-Savarin (triple-cream cheese)
St Felicien (good sub for Brie!)
Fourme d'Ambert (blue)
Ossau-Iraty (Alpine, good if you like Manchego)
mayyyybe some Epoisses (but not for me, too stinky : )

We normally eat mostly British cheeses DH is a cheesemonger but he is also French, and it just seems necessary at Christmas!

Neptunesgiraffe · 18/12/2020 16:27

A really strong extra mature cheddar, an amazing blue cheese in a pot that Tesco only sell at Christmas, Wensleydale and cranberry and possibly a brie. I also put grapes, apple slices, crystalised ginger, a couple of chutneys, some cornichons and pickles onions and some slices of Christmas cake.

AuntieMarys · 18/12/2020 16:30

Epoisses
Yorkshire blue
Loads which have been mentioned.
A little trip to Booths next week for a few more. We are aiming for about 24 😀

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 18/12/2020 16:31

Big slab of Dorset red
A goats cheese with herbs
Cornish yarg
Stilton
And we have a Camembert for cooking/dipping.

There's only 3 of us but I'm still panicking that's there's nowhere near enough 😂

Choconuttolata · 18/12/2020 16:38

Boursin black pepper
Pie d'Angloys
Petit Grey
Reblochon
Old Amsterdam
Lucifero - blue cheese with red pepper and hint of chilli
Cheddar
Stilton
Truffle cheese

😍

FinallyFluid · 18/12/2020 16:51

Baron Bigod

Stinking bishop
Epoisses

Cashel blue

Anything unpasteurised is up for consideration.

FinallyFluid · 18/12/2020 17:00

We are working our way through this list valiantly. Grin

Mince Pie Wensleydale
Roule
Castello blue

@BatleyTownswomensGuild there's only two of us, but I don't cook between Christmas and New Year...it's just a free for all of cheese, salad and party food.
