We have breaded Camembert for our starter on Xmas day with salad leaves and baby yellow, red and brown tomatoes.

didireallysaythat · 21/12/2020 19:15

@caringcarer how do you make breaded Camembert? I think I've got one coming in an online shop but was hoping it would be a complete meal with bread and olives

MozzchopsThirty · 21/12/2020 19:18

@Sairafina where is your goats cheese from?

I have:
Soft creamy danish blue
Cheddar & caramelised onions
Smoked cheddar

MozzchopsThirty · 21/12/2020 19:25

@goose1964 cheddar with horseradish is a thing??????
Please tell me where

Reading this thread is making me want to start on mine now

Millie2013 · 21/12/2020 19:42

I can’t, for the life of me get hold of any crumbly Lancashire (and I’m not likely to now, as I’m not going near shy shops and I’ve left it too late to order any on line)
They usually sell it in Tesco, but they didn’t have any the last time I went

caringcarer · 21/12/2020 20:14

@didireallysaythat, I bought it already prepared at Aldi. You get 2 in a pack.

tentative3 · 21/12/2020 20:27

So far just Kaltbach and aged comte. Hopefully some vignotte too, some cheddar and some balsamic pickled onions.

didireallysaythat · 21/12/2020 20:28

@caringcarer - rats! Aldi don't deliver do they? I'll see if I can find a recipe...

dreamingbohemian · 22/12/2020 13:37

@Nosuchthingastoomuchcheese

I don't find stilton tastes of much, what is a stronger but softer blue cheese?
Fourme d'Ambert is a bit creamier and less salty than Roquefort but still strong.
dreamingbohemian · 22/12/2020 13:39

If anyone's in London and still looking for cheeses, the main cheese shops have had loads of orders canceled due to Tier 4 so may have some things available now that were sold out last week.

GertrudeKerfuffle · 22/12/2020 13:47

YABVU for 'curating' your cheeseboard. Yes I know this isn't AIBU.

Anyway, I just bought Brie, applewood smoked and Wensleydale with cranberry as there's only two of us eating cheese.

WeThreeKingsofOrientAre · 22/12/2020 13:52

Double Gloucester
Extra Mature Organic Cheddar
Deluxe Brie
Stilton
Goats Cheese

Ooh - how did I miss that from the OP?

I prefer to think of mine as the Cheese Edit.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 22/12/2020 16:07

Black Bomber

Mimolette

Melting Gorgonzola

And a recommended soft blue from Spain, name not remembered.

Nuts, grapes, fruit cheese and pickles, water biscuits and whatever DH fancies for crackers this year.

Oh, and Delia's mini hot scones for the Gorgonzola!

We skimmed down the cheese choice this year, there are only b2 of us 😁

GertrudeKerfuffle · 22/12/2020 16:24

It's like you want to get punched @wowfudge

Pascha · 22/12/2020 16:26

Cheddar
Boursin
Brie
Wensleydale with cranberries or apricots or some other fruity shit
Babybels

I hate cheese really. This is everyone else's choice.

It's similarly pretentious, I grant you.
Longdistance · 22/12/2020 17:07

Black sticks blue
Goats cheese
Mature cheddar
Boursin
Marmite cheese
Red Leicester
Gouda
Gorgonzola picante
Stilton
I also have mozzarella x2, feta and halloumi (not for the cheese board).

FinallyFluid · 22/12/2020 17:40

@FinallyFluid

Baron Bigod

Stinking bishop
Epoisses

Cashel blue

Anything unpasteurised is up for consideration.

Baronbigod and stinking bishop sold out, that will teach me to pre order.
nosswith · 22/12/2020 17:57

I earlier mentioned I could not have one. The only blessing of being in tier 4 and not meeting mum for Christmas is that I can now. So bought some Wensleydale to begin with.

MozzchopsThirty · 22/12/2020 18:28

Today I bought more!!!!

A cheeseboard from Aldi with Stilton, cheddar, Wensleydale with cranberries, Red Leicester and Brie

Couldn't find Roquefort but already have a danish blue so it's ok

Picked up another cheddar with caramelised onions, you can never have enough right?

Almost caved and bought a baking Camembert
But I'm done now
No more food shopping for me
