Feeling a bit nostalgic today I will start- every good shopping trip would involve a visit to Bay Trading and Snob

OP posts:

The only one of the ones I remember, but don't think has been mentioned yet, is Sock Shop.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 29/11/2020 21:38

Loved bay trading co.
Pilot was all about going out clothes for me. Pure sparkly fabolousness.

I remember having loads of the carrier bags from River Island with the old fashioned paintings on.

I also loved Internacional but for the homewear bits not the clothes. Still have some xmas decs I bought in there and wooden storage boxes I still use.

Anyone remember Spoils? Homewear shop. The cutlery I still use every day was bought there 20 years ago! 😄

What shop (whateverybodywants)

If you are from Liverpool, Dodo's. (Think Shuh is there now in L1)

Thisyearcandoone · 29/11/2020 21:39

Bow bangles or something like that ? For scrunchies :)

Thisyearcandoone · 29/11/2020 21:40

Sideorderofchips · 29/11/2020 21:48

Past times
Tammy
C&a

MrsRenard · 29/11/2020 21:50

I loved Snob. Red shutters as changing room doors. Was logo a big kiss?
Also there was a ‘space age/futuristic’ young women’s clothes shop which had white ‘cave’ internal walls and big futuristic silver font for its name ... name was something like ‘2001’?

FrankiesKnuckle · 29/11/2020 21:53

From the republic of Croydonia we had Clobber.

Whatwouldscullydo · 29/11/2020 21:55

La senza

Sideorderofchips · 29/11/2020 21:57

Aaah I remember bay trading Co. Always felt bit more grown up shopping in there

Will always miss woollies

I also miss an alternative shop that used to be in Plymouth called Petes place. Used to sell amazing jeans

chomalungma · 29/11/2020 22:01

I was in Germany (or it could have been the Netherlands) and saw a C&A there recently.

BritInAus · 29/11/2020 22:05

OMG YES!! Those 'hipsters' from Bay Trading with the silver buttons. My god they were awful! I had white ones... loved myself sick in those!

SkepticalCat · 29/11/2020 22:15

@BasinHaircut

Saying that, a few years ago DH’s granny sent us round a bread pudding that she’d made wrapped in a carrier bag.

Said carrier bag was from a local shop (don’t think it was a chain, but anyone who happens to be from Dagenham would remember Pollards) which closed down decades before. I did from a bit of an emotional attachment to that bag for a while I will admit. Grin

I remember Pollards! Not the Dagenham one, but another branch where I grew up (not far from Dagenham). It had old fashioned wooden units, with glass tops and wooden cupboards behind.
BasinHaircut · 29/11/2020 22:16

I had them in black, brown, baby blue and pale green!

BasinHaircut · 29/11/2020 22:16

Sorry that was in reply to @BritInAus

insertcleverusername · 29/11/2020 22:18

Not sure it's been mentioned, but does anyone remember Tandys, the electrical shop? Radio Rentals is also another blast from the past!

DildoAndAKneeAss · 29/11/2020 22:19

Clock House
Tammy Girl
Shoes from Dolcis

We all used carrier bags from record shops as schoolbags.

BasinHaircut · 29/11/2020 22:19

@SkepticalCat yes it’s where you got your plimsoles for PE and sold wool and material by the yard and things like that.

It must have closed down about 30 years ago though, do you think?

InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud · 29/11/2020 22:21

Rumbelows....

Woahisme · 29/11/2020 22:25

Came on to say Etam and Tammy Girl but they have had a mention.

I miss Woolworths.

I used to spend hours pouring over Argos and Index catalogues for toys I wanted. Granted Argos still exists.

I loved mooching around Our Price too. For alternative wear in my teens, it was some weirdy independent shop which I can't recall the name of - could have been Orbit or Ozone or something. And another independent one called GMT's.

Woahisme · 29/11/2020 22:27

Tommy Ball's for school shoes.

I remember Tradex stores if anyone else does, they were ace around Christmas time. Randomly just remembered Texas home stores and Focus DIY superstore.

Woahisme · 29/11/2020 22:28

Oh yes, definitely remember Tandy's.
Bananalanacake · 29/11/2020 22:28

C and A is definitely alive and kicking in Germany. I got some good lounge wear that can pass as day wear from there.

Nomoreboobs · 29/11/2020 22:29

I have a C&A 10 minutes drive from where I live, it’s still the same 😂

Dolcis-best shoes!
Tammy girl
Top shop
Body shop (White musk and pinching lip liners 😬)
Bay trading-turquoise of ‘Those’ trousers with a turquoise cropped tie too.
River island-was never keen though
Etam
Ns2
Stolen from Ivor (could be purely a Northern thing)
Woolworths

Woahisme · 29/11/2020 22:29

My mum used to take me to C&A for underwear and socks.

Nomoreboobs · 29/11/2020 22:29
