Life Changing Cleaning - Why Didn't I Know?

I can't believe I didn't know about rubber brooms before now! No word of a lie, it has changed my life - picks up dog fur from the stairs better than any hoover. My carpet is like new. This, after spending £s on Dyson. Anyone else got any brilliant cleaning tips?

@PiggyPokkyFool

Yes I know *@Littlepond* that is why I tagged you Grin What model was my question as there seems to be so much choice. Thanks
@PiggyPokkyFool sorry I thought you just meant brand. I think it’s a 30c
Arthersleep · 22/11/2020 19:56

Also, this stuff is amazing for getting rid of black mould on groat and sealant. A quick spray, leave ten mins and rinse. No scrubbing!

@Eddielzzard

How to get stains off sheets? Vanish not working...
You're going to have to tell us what they are Shock
Imnotahugger · 22/11/2020 20:10

@TwilightSkies Just an inch of fairy in the bottom of a full size standard spray bottle and fill the rest with cold water. You'll be amazed!
Also, for the other poster who asked about stain removal; the best by far is just standard household soap (green soap). You can buy it at some supermarkets and definitely Wilkos and Amazon.

PiggyPokkyFool · 22/11/2020 20:13

I should have been clearer @Littlepond - that is one of those I have been checking out so I am very great full for the recommendation.

Imnotahugger · 22/11/2020 20:13

@TooTrusting You can buy them on Amazon in packs of four Wink

lunch bags go in the washing machine after a yoghurt explosion...

It’s so good. I’m really pleased with it. It vacuums really well and I can control it from my phone! You can schedule it when to start etc. You can also ask it to just do edges! I don’t know how I’ve lived without one this long 🤣

I soak my daughters fake tan stained sheets overnight in white vinegar and a squirt of fairy liquid, in the morning I wash them in the machine but add some bicarb powder in with soap powder it works really well.
Dettol mould and mildew remover is also good for removing mould from grout and sealant but does stink, not eco friendly though.
I'm another that uses shower squeegee on stair carpet not got any pets but daughters with long thick hair it works brilliantly.

I never would have expected my DM to do this as a teen. Why doesn't she do it herself as they're self-inflicted stains?

eggcustard1 · 22/11/2020 20:48

Does anyone have a cleaning tip for an enamel bath which is slightly worn so starting to stain? I have tried, pink stuff, bicarb etc and don't want to use anything which will damage the surface any further.

I keep getting yellow marks on the side of it too underneath the shampoo bottles etc which won't come off! Need help!!

Ginfordinner · 22/11/2020 20:50

Toothpaste @eggcustard1

whereisthejoy · 22/11/2020 20:59

How about sellotape residue off wood? Anyone?

PainintheholeSIL · 22/11/2020 21:10

Truwash. For cleaning your windows, showers, mirrors, taps, anything shiny. You can buy online I think. Unreal. Absolute game changer!!!!

Trying44 · 22/11/2020 21:20

Detoll Mould and Mildew remover in a green bottle, spray it on and mould literally disappears, I’ve tried other brands but this one is magic, you can only seem to find in larger supermarkets about £3.50 a bottle

Trying44 · 22/11/2020 21:26

Detoll mould and mildew remover

For setting the color in dark blue or black denim jeans: soak in COLD water and approx 250 mls (1 US cup) table salt for 1/2 hour—45 minutes. Rinse and wash garment in cold water.
Always wash in cold water to retain color.

Very old house, cream bedroom carpet, gone dark around edge, I've tried all sorts. Looks awful. Help! I'm not a dirty girl so please don't judge

Ddot · 22/11/2020 21:40

Burnt pan, boil vinegar in pan add baking soda, it will loosen then scrub

@whereisthejoy try alcohol based hand gel. Slap it on quite thickly and leave it for a while. You might need to gently scrape with something blunt (the end of a table knife, for example), but it usually works IME.

Whyisitsodifficult · 22/11/2020 21:56

Citric Acid for limescale is the best! I live in a hard water area and this stuff just melts limescale away and leaves my stainless steel taps etc super shiny without any effort. It’s cheap and environmentally friendly, amazing product!

Busy77 · 22/11/2020 22:06

Any tips for cleaning Grimey patches off what I think is a composite bath or perhaps some kind of acrylic- tried pink stuff, the Lakeland bath stuff and every sort of bathroom cleaner.

Jedstre · 22/11/2020 22:17

Just moved into a new house with black granite work surfaces in the kitchen. Oh my! They are awful to keep clean. They just look smeared all the time. What are the secrets please oh wise ones?
