Life Changing Cleaning - Why Didn't I Know?

I can't believe I didn't know about rubber brooms before now! No word of a lie, it has changed my life - picks up dog fur from the stairs better than any hoover. My carpet is like new. This, after spending £s on Dyson. Anyone else got any brilliant cleaning tips?

Also, the best thing for getting stains off clothes was the pure soap bars that Fairy did. They were green. I think they were pure soap without any additives. I say we're because they disappeared a few years ago. I finished my last sliver a year ago. Would love to source more.

Eddielzzard · 22/11/2020 18:47

How to get stains off sheets? Vanish not working...

Ineke · 22/11/2020 18:50

Little pond...I clean someone's house for them, they have a robot Hoover, I find it company while I clean. I lost it once and even looked out in the garden and upstairs for it! It had got under a kitchen cupboard and run out of battery. How stupid of me to think it could climb the stairs. Glad that it turned up, like an old friend!

Heat the oven to 80*C before cleaning and get a scraper with a blade for the door! Looked professionally cleaned in no time. Oh the hours I’ve wasted and the dissatisfaction with the result!

Micro fibre cloths! Make everything super shiny and streak free

Mamascoven · 22/11/2020 18:51

Dont know if this has allready been mentioned as havent read all comments but baby oil on stainless steel fridges brings them up like new.

Joyjoj · 22/11/2020 18:53

Was that pink stuff Chemico years ago ?

Joyjoj · 22/11/2020 18:55

The pink stuff I remember was in a tin it was called Chemico if I remember rightly.

Can I put the drawer from the washing machine in the dishwasher? Its grungy and scaly and scrubbing isn't working.

MrsGrindah · 22/11/2020 18:58

Just did the lemon in the microwave thing and it made now difference at all!

VinylDetective · 22/11/2020 18:59

Yes. It comes out soooo much cleaner.

So is a rubber broom specifically for carpet not hard floors?

LuckyLuckyWoman · 22/11/2020 19:14

CCSS15 how much fabric conditioner to water? I have massive windows and a grimey shower cubicle :)

PiggyPokkyFool · 22/11/2020 19:15

@Blastandbollocks and @Littlepond
I am looking at robot vacs at the moment - what model are yours please?
Tag me - thanks

Benjispruce2 · 22/11/2020 19:16

@rewild no they’re for regular sweeping but get fluff up from carpet too.

Benjispruce2 · 22/11/2020 19:18

@MrsGrindah how many minutes? I put half a lemon in a bowl of water for a few minutes on high. Then leave to stand do the steam gets to work before wiping down. If not long enough do longer .

Littlepond · 22/11/2020 19:27

@PiggyPokkyFool I’ve got a Eufy. He is wonderful! Well worth the money.

PiggyPokkyFool · 22/11/2020 19:29

Yes I know @Littlepond that is why I tagged you Grin
What model was my question as there seems to be so much choice.
Thanks

Winduptorch · 22/11/2020 19:33

I use a bottle top from a milk carton to scrap of burnt on food, works great, especially on non stick pans and trays as it doesn't scratch

Blastandbollocks · 22/11/2020 19:38

@PiggyPokkyFool I bought the "eufy [BoostIQ] RoboVac 15C MAX"

Does a good job, one charge does pretty much the whole downstairs (carpet and laminate) of living room, kitchen, hall and dining room. Copes with rugs and things, but does get a bit upset at the corner of the stairs where there's a newel post. Sorted with leaving a shoe there to prevent pitiful beeping! HmmGrin

Jeeperscreepers69 · 22/11/2020 19:40

GROUPON doing a deal atm

PiggyPokkyFool · 22/11/2020 19:44

Thanks @Blastandbollocks - off to narrow it down now.

FelicisNox · 22/11/2020 19:46

Zoflora is as great at unblocking sinks as it is at cleaning your floor.

Just pour a couple of cap fulls down your sink and leave it for half an hour.

Blastandbollocks · 22/11/2020 19:47

@PiggyPokkyFool I considered ALLLLLLLL of them, and narrowed it down to that based on price v. capacity. Mind you, it was reduced when I bought it. (And has the added amusement of being able to set it going from work while DH works at home. Apparently it's not freaky in the slightest! Grin)
