How many types of pasta do you usually have in the cupboard

Dh doing the weekly shop - asked him to grab some conchiglie as had run out. His response - but we already have penne and spaghetti.

Now if he’d looked a bit closer he’d also know that we have a few others too, but I can’t rest easy unless I have at least shells, something tube like and spaghetti at least in the house. Am I a weirdo? What pasta do you keep “in stock”?

Spirals as they're kids favourite and easy for baby to pick up.

Spaghetti
Orzo
Lasagna sheets

Megan2018 · 13/11/2020 19:51

We used to have loads but since we switched to wholewheat there’s less choice!
We mainly eat fusilli as the baby finds it easiest. It’s not my favourite though.

We usually have fusilli, lasagna, tagliatelle (or pappardelle if we can get it) and penne/rigatoni MW in the cupboard.

I don’t like spaghetti weirdly or farfalle.

Megan2018 · 13/11/2020 19:52

I have no idea where that MW came
from!

No not a weirdo, off the top of my head i've got at least seven. Macaroni, lasagne, tagliatelli, spaghetti, rigatoni, penne, shells and some m+s ones that look like flying saucers that i can't pronounce. Actually eight 😂

You need one long and one short and macaroni as a bonus.
We have Linguine, cavatappe and macaroni.

MadCatLady71 · 13/11/2020 20:13

Orzo
Fusilli
Linguine
Macaroni
Pappardelle

I try to buy the same types and brands consistently otherwise I end up with loads of two-thirds used packets that sit around for shes because there’s not quite enough left for a meal.

White fusili
Wholewheat fusili
Lasagne
Gnocchi (fridge, not cupboard)!

Currently I have spaghetti, tagliatelle, lasagne sheets, fusilli, farfalle, penne, and macaroni. Which seems utterly ridiculous now I've written it down! Also got some tinned spag hoops in the cupboard too.

Some fancy pants shape I can't recall but was the only one available when I bought it during lockdown 1, the stockpiling era.

Millie2013 · 13/11/2020 20:46

I think we’ve just got spaghetti, penne (our go-to) and some Christmas pasta left over from last year
And lasagne sheets

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 13/11/2020 20:53

This thread got me going all Dusk till Dawn

We got tube pasta, flat pasta, long pasta, striiingy pasta, we got egg pasta, gluten free pasta, dinosaur pasta. If you can get pasta cheaper....eat it.

As you were

MyPersona · 13/11/2020 21:09

We only have spaghetti and orzo. Hardly ever eat pasta but for an occasional quick supper I’ll do carbonara or puttanesca. I use orzo with chicken thighs in a kind of baked risotto type thing sometimes.

TheSunIsStillShining · 13/11/2020 21:16

6-7 types with gluten and another 4-5 types gf.

Squirrelly1 · 13/11/2020 21:16

Loads, some in the whole grain version too:
Spaghetti
Penne
Fusilli
Macaroni
Lasagne sheets
Tagliatelle
Linguine
Spirals
Tiny alphabet shapes for soups
And some fresh linguine in the fridge.

I’m told we now have enough, but I’m not convinced.

Livpool · 13/11/2020 21:24

Penne, spaghetti (which DH doesn't like so will probably be there in a year) and Minion for DS.

I am lowering the tone - apologies

Livpool · 13/11/2020 21:26

Oh and some stuffed stuff into he freezer - phew!

GlamGiraffe · 13/11/2020 21:45

Spaghetti
Rigattone
Lingune
Penne
Conchigle
Orzo
Lasagne
Soup pasta (the tiny stars)
And some multi coloured farfale we were given as a present

Sonmi451 · 13/11/2020 21:53

Penne, twists, lasagne and spaghetti. Would be more but I prefer wholewheat and it doesn't come in the same variety of shapes around here. I'd quite like some shells tbh. Oh and I have a bag of orzo that I'm not really sure what to do with.
