How many types of pasta do you usually have in the cupboard

Dh doing the weekly shop - asked him to grab some conchiglie as had run out. His response - but we already have penne and spaghetti.

Now if he’d looked a bit closer he’d also know that we have a few others too, but I can’t rest easy unless I have at least shells, something tube like and spaghetti at least in the house. Am I a weirdo? What pasta do you keep “in stock”?

Spaghetti, linguine, tagliatelle, lasagne, fusili, rigatoni, farfalle, ditalini and orecchiiete. No cannelloni in the cupboard because the last of it's in the oven being cooked. DH would happily eat pasta seven days a week.

Mochudubh · 13/11/2020 18:43

Marshall's macaroni, as nothing else will do for Macaroni Cheese. (But sometimes Marshall's spirali for a change).
Big tubes from Lidl (not as big as cannelloni).
Tricolour farfalle from TKMaxx, I'm a sucker for their weird food section.
Spaghetti
Lasagne Sheets
Minion dried pasta shapes (no-one in house Is under 24).

Two, long and short. We probably have pasta once a month or less.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 13/11/2020 18:44

Wow, I've always wondered whether anyone really buys whole-wheat pasta - now I see people really do!

Sally2791 · 13/11/2020 18:49

At least six different types, and in quantity as well!

Fusilli, lasage, spaghetti and fresh spinach and ricotta tortellini in the fridge. I buy macaroni when I remember.

We had the bow shapes last week. DS1 (16) was rather excited to have bow tie pasta HmmGrin

ChelseaCat · 13/11/2020 18:58

Oh my god, you people are all so selfish with your stockpiled pasta collections. Don’t you know there’s a global pandemic

Grin

(Seven types here!)

laudemio · 13/11/2020 19:01

Also Orecchietti is the little ears pasta, very nice with seafood.

Usually just three types:

In the cupboard:

Tag.
Spag.
Penne
Fusilli
Farfalle
Conchiglie
Orso

Lasagne
Macaroni

And lots of strong white flour and eggs because I make my own from time to time.

bearlyactive · 13/11/2020 19:29

We currently have half a packet of fusilli, half a packet of spirali, a packet of macaroni, some wholewheat lasagne sheets and some spaghetti.

steppemum · 13/11/2020 19:29

4-5 types.

spahetti
noodles
Lasagne
macaroni

those are all specific to particular dishes

then also any generic shapes - twists or shells for vague generic pasta dishes

CoronaBollox · 13/11/2020 19:33

I always keep stock of lasagne sheets, spaghetti and macaroni. We dont eat much pasta here so will buy when needed if trying a new recipe.

I avoid using fusilli altogether.

CoronaBollox · 13/11/2020 19:35

Oh I also have Fettuccine most weeks.

HeronLanyon · 13/11/2020 19:36

Bloody hell this thread has made me hungry. Off to make an unexpected unplanned tortiglioni with lots of garlic and a bit of tomato. Starving now. Carb crave.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 13/11/2020 19:41
