How many types of pasta do you usually have in the cupboard

Dh doing the weekly shop - asked him to grab some conchiglie as had run out. His response - but we already have penne and spaghetti.

Now if he’d looked a bit closer he’d also know that we have a few others too, but I can’t rest easy unless I have at least shells, something tube like and spaghetti at least in the house. Am I a weirdo? What pasta do you keep “in stock”?

Fusilli, spaghetti, penne, orzo, macaroni, lasagne sheets and tortellini.

AdaColeman · 13/11/2020 17:38

These all do different jobs, and work best for different dishes.
spaghetti
tagliatelle
orzo
stellette
lumaconi
linguini
rigatoni

IDontMindMarmite · 13/11/2020 17:39

Fusilli is better than Penne for gripping flavour surely

Loads.
Spaghetti, linguine, tagliatelle, fusilli, conchiglie, penne, macaroni, farfalle , orzo, cannelloni. I often have fresh lasagne sheets and/or tortellini in the fridge too. I love pasta.

Bloodybridget · 13/11/2020 17:41

Usually four or five, I guess. Linguine, tagliatelle, something small for soup, and a couple of shapes. Occasionally lasagne too, not always.

isseywith4vampirecats · 13/11/2020 17:41

Taglietelle, spaghetti and lasagne sheets if i fancy spinach and riccota canneloni i buy ready made cant be bothered with the faff of making it myself,

ParisianLady · 13/11/2020 17:42

8 types in our cupboard and 1 packet of fresh frozen in the deep freeze

gottakeeponmovin · 13/11/2020 17:42

Spaghetti (only lasted FIL will eat) penne is the usual staple and fresh tortellini. I also have macaroni although we don't eat that often
When I'm feeling extravagant I go for a bow but never a shell - may have to try that

MissOrganisedMe · 13/11/2020 17:43

So many of you have orzo. I have some too but can't find a use for it in recipes that I've searched. Would anyone be able to share a favourite please? Thanks!

iklboogeymum · 13/11/2020 17:43

Penne
Macaroni
Spaghetti
Linguine
Tagliatelle
Farfalle
Conchiglie
Lasagne sheets

I blame DH. He always thinks we need pasta for some reason.

AlexisIsMySpiritAnimal · 13/11/2020 17:43

Penne, fusilli and spaghetti- always! Multiple bags of each. Buy penne in big sacks.

Macaroni, rigatoni, conchiglie - occasionally. Often have part 1kg bags here and there.

Marmite27 · 13/11/2020 17:44

Fusilli
Linguine
Spaghetti
Cannelloni
Orzo
Conchilli
Spirelli
Paw partol

Hmm, more than I thought!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 13/11/2020 17:44

Loads here too! Lasagne sheets, spaghetti, fusili, macaroni, rigatoni, orzo and tagliatelle. You definitely need a choice!

Marmite27 · 13/11/2020 17:44

Oh and macaroni

naemates · 13/11/2020 17:44

I'm almost scared to post - I use conchiglie for everything

Marmite27 · 13/11/2020 17:44

Bloody hell, lasagne sheets too!

FreeButtonBee · 13/11/2020 17:45

Two different types of soup pasta
Fusilli
Penne
Rigatoni
Lasagne sheets
Liguine

That’s fairly standard round here. I also have pasta flour too!

Whoooootaminute · 13/11/2020 17:45

I think maybe a pack or two of fusilli?

We rarely eat pasta. I buy it in for emergencies or for student veggie DS.

I'm all about protein and veg, not so much carbs.

merryhouse · 13/11/2020 17:46

but are they in jars?

Currently we have fusilli, spaghetti and lasagne. At one point we had conchiglie, farfalle, penne, the wheels (rotelle, apparently) and tricolore animal shapes; but we weren't eating lasagne at that point so we never actually got up to eight.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 13/11/2020 17:47

@MissOrganisedMe I don't have a recipe but I treat it almost like risotto. My favway to cook it is to brown some chicken thighs, remove then add onion and garlic to the oil its been browned in. Knob of butter then the orzo, mix until coated then add stock until almost cooked. Season, throw some lemon wedges and the chicken back on then in the oven to crisp the skin. Its delicious 😋

Makegoodchoices · 13/11/2020 17:48

Linguine, spaghetti, gnocchi, cannelloni, macaroni and spirali currently in mine!

TicTacTwo · 13/11/2020 17:48

Spaghetti
Lasagne
Fusilli
Penne

In my cupboard

TheYearOfSmallThings · 13/11/2020 17:48

Spaghetti and one other pasta (usually fusilli). Unless you count noodles, couscous and orzo.

BigMamaFratelli · 13/11/2020 17:50

Always have:
Tagliatelle
Spaghetti
Penne
Fusilli
Lasagne sheets
And tortellini in the fridge

Currently also have:
Conchiglie
Rigatoni
Orzo
Macaroni
And linguine

That's more than I thought to be honest!

Bakedpotatoandgin · 13/11/2020 17:50

Only fusili, it comes in a 3kg bag and lasts me ages. Noodles and couscous too if you count them, but I don't.
