(Socially distanced of course and in strictest obedience of all localised lockdowns and 3 or 5 tiers and whatever illogic the powers that be can dream up next)

Im tired of people blaming the public.

WouldBeGood · 29/10/2020 23:05

@MercyBooth I e just made that point on my Facebook. This is not the fault of the public.

BogRollBOGOF · 29/10/2020 23:05

I heard it was about 90% back in the spring.

@justasking111

What a great idea
Nah! Just drink red - then no messing around with chilling.

Although I do love my gin nice and chilled

IAintentDead · 29/10/2020 23:09

@MercyBooth

It was directed at Bailey who claims people wernt complying with the lockdown.
If we were 95% compliant it totally proves that it doesn't work.

on the reason for your post - there is no reasoning

BogRollBOGOF · 29/10/2020 23:10

New Zealand had random cases emerge from apparently nowhere after they were clear for some time. Isolation from the world is no guarentee to remain Covid free even if it looks like its gone.

My area is going into Tier 3 as from Monday. Its been shot for long enough with local restrictions.

To be reviewed at the end of November.

Had a hissy fit and argument with DH. He thinks I should just do as I'm told. The only difference it will make will be that I can't see friends in our gardens and can't go to pubs ( which was just me and DH anyway)

So so sick of this. 😠

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to walk away from the Covid threads. I have just looked at one berating people who won’t just obey ‘the rules’ and berating their selfishness. I have posted previously about my friend whose father is in a care home and had not seen him except for one brief garden visit in March. Luckily (in her words) he had another seizure on Saturday and his family can therefore now spend time with him (albeit only one at a time) now that he is unconscious and unaware of their presence. It is purely a matter of time and his family will always know that he spent the last 7 months of his life immobile in a care home and without the comfort of seeing the family who loved him. But at least he won’t have died of Covid -and at the day that’s all that matters

user1471448866 · 30/10/2020 01:21

End of the day !

Ibake · 30/10/2020 01:27

@user1471448866 I'm on that one too (and really should be in bed by now). I'm currently claiming moral victory over one of them as I've not heard a personal peep out of her ever since I pointed out that she might make her points more effectively if she used the correct terms. I then somewhat bitchily gave dictionary definitions. Childish I know but fucking sick of being lectured.

It’s really worrying how easily you get drawn in ! I constantly tell myself to just walk away but every time the sheer arrogance and disbelief that anyone could possibly hold a different view just draws me in again - I will have to learn to walk away because otherwise I spend most of the night composing more arguments that will never see the light of day !

chocolatesweets · 30/10/2020 07:18

Have you seen the one that says if we don't listen now, it will be our fault that we don't get together for Christmas, not the government.

The video with the psychologist is exactly what I've been preaching.

Bloody hell, some common sense please soon?

The reaction from family members has hurt more than the government, if that makes sense.

Bambooble · 30/10/2020 07:28

Not sure this is the right place, but just a few of the most irritating words/phrases from this whole thing:

Long covid
Covidiot
Key worker

chocolatesweets · 30/10/2020 07:31

Exponentially

Worldgonecrazy · 30/10/2020 07:41

Yep to key worker! I think people envision medics, not financial administrators 😷

Bambooble · 30/10/2020 07:57

I remember at the 'peak' (shudder at that word too) people posting on the local FB groups asking for freebies because they were 'key workers' (getting paid whilst others lost their jobs but that's by the by I guess), and on here someone would be wildly unreasonable about something but try and justify it/sway opinion with the I am a keyworker spiel. Loads of ICU nurses as well weirdly, almost makes you wonder where this shortage of nurses is, must be enough to man the NHS from the AIBU boards.

110APiccadilly · 30/10/2020 08:03

I have been musing on the way we apparently must lockdown, despite the mental health, etc. toll, because more people will die if we don't. So those arguing for this accept that the action of locking down will kill some people. What is the moral difference between this argument and arguing that we should kill the odd healthy person in order to share out their organs and save six or seven other lives? I don't want to be offensive, but I genuinely can't see a difference.

TabbyStar · 30/10/2020 08:05

Grin

"We're all in this together" makes me feel stabby (and sing the High School Musical song!)

AllPlayedOut · 30/10/2020 08:06

Can I add flouting to the list? Every time I see it I always imagine the person they're complaining about skipping merrily down the road while playing a jaunty tune on their flute.

WouldBeGood · 30/10/2020 08:09

Selfish

AllPlayedOut · 30/10/2020 08:16

Yea to selfish. I'm so tired of that.

Bleating is another.

DrDiva · 30/10/2020 08:22

And min-ger-ling. don’t forget that one!

I really don’t like Ameretto - weirdly, since I love almonds. I do have a fabulous coconut rum though.

My favourite Friday thing used to be to buy a coffee and sip it on the way to work on the tube. Just half an hour looking out the window and daydreaming a bit before landing in the whirlwind again. Stupid I know, but I’m really missing it today.

www.somersetlive.co.uk/news/somerset-news/residents-receive-stark-warning-letter-4652459

We are to get a telling off apparently.

See this email from testing place- so don;t have to isolate for this survey..by time it comes back that would be over anyway Confused seeing as it takes so long, snail mail etc.

Hi Orangeblossom,

Thank you for your email.

The test result should be with you within 7 - 10 working days from the time your test is collected.

However, this timeframe can vary depending on how busy the laboratory processing your test is. Hopefully you should receive the test result soon, but we do not have direct access to the testing laboratories from this Helpline, so we are unable to give a more accurate estimate.

Once the results have been dispatched we are reliant upon the Royal Mail postal service to deliver them within the expected timeframe. Unfortunately, there may be a small delay, given the current circumstances. When the results have been processed you will get a same day notification (if you opted to receive this by email or text).

If you have not received your test results by 2/11 please let us know and we will escalate this to the relevant department for addressing. Please also provide your 8-digit Access Code and Postcode.

We appreciate your patience and kind co-operation.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can help with.

Kind Regards,
Eileen.
Covid Test Study Helpline Team.
