(Socially distanced of course and in strictest obedience of all localised lockdowns and 3 or 5 tiers and whatever illogic the powers that be can dream up next)

Oh yeah and the other hairdresser had her mum in doing a colour and finishing off before they opened properly - so she hid her in the cupboard while her colour was developing so she could do her first trim of the day and stay under the rules for number of people!

They assume we're like those 'covid deniers and conspiracy theorists' the BBC is always on about then they have protests...all is black and white to some people.

I have been successfully to the dentists and had my tooth sorted thankfully in the same appt. No faffing about just got the PPE out and got on with it. So that is good.

SufferingFromLongLockdown · 29/10/2020 13:58

Where does one sign up to become a bot? Is it lucrative?
I want to be a covid warden so I can go around smiling at people ( extra hard so they can see my eyes are smiling) and wishing them a nice day.

As for staying safe, I've taken up two fairly risky new hobbies since the usual thrills of a coffee and cake with friends aren't available, so ironically I'm much less safe. But at least keeping my mental health off the floor.

SufferingFromLongLockdown · 29/10/2020 13:59

If I die because of my hobbies I want it known it was because of covid shit and not sadly with covid.

A client of DH's starts Teams/Zoom meetings with a safesafesafe roll-call

What happens if you say no?! DD and I have the tail end of coronavirus now, neither particularly ill, I've been working normally throughout (at home) how would they cope with that?!

Yes, I think that’s the problem @Orangeblossom7777

Glad your tooth fixed

I just asked DH this. An admission of covid gets you a sympathetic head tilt or some nervous collar-fingering, depending on who you're talking to.

Several of them have had it, it seems. As have I. DH took great delight in telling them this a few months back. (I didn't get especially ill either.) I think they all worked through it too, I certainly did.

So I don't think there'd be any weirdness or judgement around not-safe, in reality. To be entirely fair, they seem like a nice bunch of people who have just fallen into the habit of saying the thing everyone is saying.

Glad to hear you're at the tail-end of it, hope you're feeling better soon.

justasking111 · 29/10/2020 14:24

Being a bot. Well on fb the welsh government page the folks kissing the feet of our esteemed first minister only post between the hours of 9 and 5. Which is extremely telling in my humble opinion. After 5 pm the posts are all raspberry blowing comments. Grin

Justgivemewine · 29/10/2020 14:38

@JamSarnie

It's ironic that a little bit of me dies inside whenever anyone says 'stay safe'. I am surprised I am still alive Grin
Same here. I also get stabby everytime I see or hear “strange/unusual/unprecedented times” as if by now we didn’t fucking know.

On a lighter note ds3 is a fan of the phineas and ferb cartoons so having watched the movie one 6 million times we have this song stuck in our heads and are having great fun annoying the hell out of the kids by doing it around the house.

dingit · 29/10/2020 15:03

@justasking111

They said today in London 100k a day are catching covid, someone did the math for them and said that means in 8 days every londoner will have it. Not being a statistician who can extrapolate data I tend to believe them.
I'll mark my calendar and report back
chocolatesweets · 29/10/2020 15:09

Hi all, I've missed you here.

We're in lockdown in Wales ☹️

So many people suffering. Maternity units etc.

Upsetting facebook posts about "stop complaining." What you guys think about it? Cruel.

Orangeblossom7777 · 29/10/2020 15:11

Do you remember how in the first wave there was some dodgy reporting of young people dying of covid? One was a young lady who was actually not covid but drugs and another waiting for a transplant...

anyway they are doing it again. Yesterday going on about a teen in Northern Ireland, dying of covid and no other health info available

Today the family has piped up to say no it wasn't...it was a heart condition and son had many health problems.

Piers Morgan has tweeted about Bobby Ball dying from Covid. Replies underneath are pretty split about whether it was from or with.

I'd just gone across the time for recovery campaign on twitter and the website and was trying to find out who is behind it.

Dowser · 29/10/2020 16:05

Dr shillary ?
Can’t stand him.
Another cheater.

ISaySteadyOn · 29/10/2020 16:05

I'm in London. Pretty sure DH and I have had it but we had it before lockdown.

The Facebook posts about "stop complaining" give me the actual rage. I'm flipping living with the collateral damage that they're so glib about. Have started saying this a bit more irl - it's time people realised that "mental health problems" aren't just an esoteric concern raised by people who want to go to the pub but are affecting real people, and indeed people that they know.
rosettesforjill · 29/10/2020 16:14

This has been popping up on Facebook again (it was from March).

1 - SAFE at home. Those capitals give me rage
2 - surely fake.

I would actually be quite interested in hearing any coping strategies for those really struggling mentally with lockdown but these platitudes ain't that and IMO are an insult to what he must have gone through.

Glad that @Orangeblossom7777 got her tooth fixed & @DominaShantotto got her hair done. Smiling at the hairdresser hiding clients in the cupboard.

DH was asked to come up with 3 words to define how positive he felt at the end of a zoom meeting today. He politely declined & left the meeting.

DD is gutting a pumpkin.

I am struggling massively with my MH. I was sectioned a decade ago, and since then have fought hard to not let anxiety and depression rule my life, through therapy, medication and implimenting coping mechanisms and recognising my triggers. Lockdown has completely obliterated all of those, and the only reason I am still here is because of my son in honesty. In fairness to the Facebook circular, reframing does help a tiny bit- I have found language to be really important over the years, obviously only a small piece of the puzzle, but important nonetheless. Structure also helps, as does self care, but at the moment I cannot even face basic hygiene for myself (my energy goes on keeping DS fed, happy, clean, and content), it's definitely not easy. I would say though that in an ideal world it's good advice, but definitely not enough to keep someone from the brink.

Bambooble · 29/10/2020 16:44

Oh, I also think I'm going to lose my job as I cannot work from home, it's really, really affecting me. But although offices are sort of open, none of us are 'allowed' in, and if I quit we won't be able to pay the bills. But of course everyone keeps saying I should be grateful to be able to WFH, and to be thankful.
