(Socially distanced of course and in strictest obedience of all localised lockdowns and 3 or 5 tiers and whatever illogic the powers that be can dream up next)

Full disclosure: I have a mother in hospital with Covid.. that is a bed that could go to a young person with blood cancer ... but it won't .. because she got there first ! She shouldn't be there . The young person with blood cancer should be there ... if only people had done the UTMOST in their power to avoid putting her there... by being at home and not doing ANYTHING but the minimum ...

Ahem. What makes you think we haven't all done our UTMOST?
AcornAutumn · 29/10/2020 21:36

Careful folks.

Lord Sumption looked like someone had put itching powder on his chair.

Yes, the legal precedents - or lack thereof - have been a puzzle to me. Simon Dolan’s case was back on today but I dont hold out much hope.

Presumably because we're not living on water and never leaving the house @TrustTheGeneGenie, obviously missing the point that not everyone can stay at home

I've got a bottle of Amaretto arriving tomorrow. It's supposed to be for Christmas but with the way I'm feeling at the moment it might not make it!

Ah yes, must be that. Note to self - only doing utmost if locked in a dark room starving to death Wink
SufferingFromLongLockdown · 29/10/2020 21:42

I hope your mother makes a full and complete recovery. Flowers

Now, where's the amaretto?

Ibake · 29/10/2020 21:42

@AcornAutumn I would bloody love it if Dolan won, but he won't because he can't. Some of the women behind the Recovery group are seriously impressive and I think it might just be the middle aged woman whose voice begins to be heard. They're threatening our kids and xmas, mums ain't gonna stand for that!

Mine is the cheap Aldi version but it’s still very nice.

They’ve stopped selling their fake Aperol because “it’s not summer anymore madam”. Well, I know, but surely that’s essential?!

WouldBeGood · 29/10/2020 21:44

@Bailey0703 Sorry about your mum. Everyone on this thread is doing their very best, I’m sure you are too.

I know he can’t win but I‘m glad that and Francis H have tried.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 29/10/2020 21:46

I just 'happened' to find the amaretto when I was doing my Ocado order and a bottle ended up in my order along with a bottle of Baileys and 2 crates of Bud for DH. I'm sure Ocado think we are raving alcoholics as there's usually some kind of alcohol in the delivery!

DominaShantotto · 29/10/2020 21:46

You know the hairdresser is pleased with your hair job when she photographs the cut and colour of it (pastel pink with hot pink streaks through it).
I used to be a mousey yuk colour until just over a year ago - then I met my lovely hairdresser and started bleaching the shit out of it and discovered their colours you can just lift out of you need to.

DominaShantotto · 29/10/2020 21:47

Aldi sold a chocolate orange rum once that was gorgeous but they seem to have ditched it for a million flavours of bloody gin now

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 29/10/2020 21:49

I'm jealous @DominaShantotto, I wish I had the courage to do that!

The highlight of my day was the company I work for being listed on the stock exchange and my picture being on the Nasdaq tower in 7 story high technicolour!

AcornAutumn · 29/10/2020 21:51

pink - that’s quite a highlight!

BogRollBOGOF · 29/10/2020 21:51

Sounds like our next thread is going to involve rushing out to buy amaretto before a curfew Grin

I am genuinely stocking up. I now have 2 types of vodka, an elderflower liquor, the amaretto and two bottles of Prosecco.

I did a gin poem on another thread but no one cared!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 29/10/2020 21:56

I wasn't going to submit my picture but thought sod it. It made it more fun to be looking out for our pictures.

People are getting angry about the unequal tier 3 shit now. Good. I’m furious - the booze thing was sheer spite because they can

Dowser · 29/10/2020 22:03

Thanks Acorn
That’s brilliant

I'm not surprised - I thought the tiers were supposed to make it simpler but now it appears councils can add any old bollocks to them
Dowser · 29/10/2020 22:08

That guy has summarised it far better than me
( as in I’d have waffled on for pages)

Reedwarbler · 29/10/2020 22:10

Talking about booze... I joined the Virgin wine club completely by mistake in the summer (because I didn't read the small print on the £50 off voucher I got) however, I had a delivery of a dozen bottles today, plus a free magnum of Shiraz. I am very happy today, especially as I shared a bottle with an old friend over a natter. Simple pleasures are something to treasure these days.
