(Socially distanced of course and in strictest obedience of all localised lockdowns and 3 or 5 tiers and whatever illogic the powers that be can dream up next)

@Bambooble if it has actually been helpful then I am glad that I posted it! Smile

To me, it just felt a bit like someone telling you to calm down when you're really stressed and anxious about something, if you see what I mean? Like it had been written by somebody who didn't understand how someone else might be struggling.

Bambooble · 29/10/2020 16:54

Ah yes I agree, to many it won't be helpful, and the posts which sell it as a 'fix' are ridiculous and annoying. It's good to find a group of people who still seem to have rational thought left! I might trawl through the old threads too.

rosettesforjill · 29/10/2020 17:00

Here is some actual advice from Terry Waite - which I think is much more sensitive and insightful metro.co.uk/2020/04/14/former-hostages-reveal-really-appreciate-isolation-12552848/

WouldBeGood · 29/10/2020 17:14

I’m fed up as I hate the great outdoors, have had far too much of it, and moved to a new area to be nearer civilisation snd things to do that don’t involve mud.

That has not proved a total success 😂😂

ISaySteadyOn · 29/10/2020 17:20

Can I ask you all a totally irrelevant question? What do you all think of 90s The Addams Family film for a 6 yo, 7 yo and 9 yo?

Orangeblossom7777 · 29/10/2020 17:20

I just feel kind of lost in RL recently. Friend saying she did get the husband to sleep in the lounge for going away with work. And to 'get Boris to sort it out' when I mentioned things are relatively normal here.

I explained politely our council is Lib dem. and things are OK here on the healthcare side. It's sad but just feel out of touch. I thought I knew people well. Maybe it is just stress.

I've also had severe mental health stuff and need stuff like swimming and things to keep well. There are pills but other stuff helps just as much.

All the tracking and rules makes me feel quite paranoid at times. and peoples' attitudes. It's almost inhuman.

DominaShantotto · 29/10/2020 17:20

Hairdresser was saying she's never known so many people she knows losing people through suicide this year - everyone's really struggling again now.

Wishfulthinking1977 · 29/10/2020 17:28

Whenever I see Dr Hilary I always think of Harry Enfields impersonation of him and can't ever watch without laughing at him!! 😂😂

MissEWeatherwax · 29/10/2020 17:32

Does anyone else feel very pessimistic, it half term here and it has done nothing but rain. Feeling very sad.
Do people really think we are Bots, if so I haven’t been paid yet. I’m also selfishly praying we don’t go into tier 3. Or lockdown like Wales.
Did anyone listen to You and Yours on Tuesday? There was a woman on who had bought a gazebo and fire pit for Christmas and another man who had lost his mother this year, said under no circumstances was he leaving his DF alone at Christmas and his brother felt the same. I actually cried listening to it.
I also wore my mask today and it was admired .Halloween Grin

Taswama · 29/10/2020 17:39

@ISaySteadyOn - from memory I would say yes. But common sense media website is quite good to check for guidance. Are you having a Hallowe'en movie night? I have Goosebumps 1 and 2 arriving from amazon tomorrow.

Do you mean generally or because of lockdown?
Evenstar · 29/10/2020 17:52

I actually thought this from a Veterans charity my cousin supports was quite helpful. If people need help I know that is really hard at the moment, but you should seek help, and not be put off because you think other people are struggling more than you.

@AcornAutumn before lockdown my life was the best it’s ever been, after some awful times.

I hear you!

@rosettesforjill

This has been popping up on Facebook again (it was from March).

1 - SAFE at home. Those capitals give me rage
2 - surely fake.

I would actually be quite interested in hearing any coping strategies for those really struggling mentally with lockdown but these platitudes ain't that and IMO are an insult to what he must have gone through.

A friend of mine sat next to Terry Waite at a gala dinner thing once and said he was a horrible bloke. Really full of himself.
TabbyStar · 29/10/2020 17:59

I try and listen to You and Yours. I nearly cried at the woman whose husband of many years was in a care home and she was able to see him through the window for a while but now not even that, and she was worried he'd not know why she wasn't there Sad.

I think mine watched it at about those ages - they were fine with it but they're not usually upset by TV and films.

I am fed up of the rain - it's been all day here but we did get our new drier delivered today so that will be a huge help with the endless washing.

WouldBeGood · 29/10/2020 18:01

@AcornAutumn it’s really bloody annoying, isn’t it?!

110APiccadilly · 29/10/2020 18:04

I suppose there's no particular reason for Terry Waite to be a nice person - presumably kidnappers don't select on personal qualities.

Recycledblonde · 29/10/2020 18:07

I’m feeling very miserable today, no motivation to do anything. Prior to lockdown I though I had my life sorted, all DCs gainfully employed and finally we had some money to travel. Now I feel like I’m just on a treadmill, had quite a bit of time off last year with stress and anxiety and really thought I’d cracked it and was on the way up.

I know I should be grateful in that, out of 5 of us only DS1s job is not secure as he works in the entertainment industry but I just feel so dragged down, can feel myself slithering helplessly into a black pit of self indulgent misery and worry.

My 9 and 7 year old watched it last week. Fine I’d say.
LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 29/10/2020 18:32

Looks like I'll be doing a pumpkin hunt in the shops tommorow.

We can't get any with on-line shop - and unlike other years the Tesco met and the none Spar don't have any either.

I did carve a turnip one year - which gave a bluish light - but I remember it being a pain to do and think I may have asked DH for help in the end.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 29/10/2020 18:39

Terry Waite worked for the church and he was always portrayed in the media as some sort of saint.

My SIL has outed herself as an AD and so has her mum. Her mum is a nurse so I have an answer to "would you say that to a doctor/nurse/whatever?" She has said outright that she will not comply with another lockdown if it means not seeing the rest of her family.

littlbrowndog · 29/10/2020 18:46

I just found my self shouting fuck off to Nicola on the telly when she was talking about love

Fuck off

@LadyOfTheImprovisedBath Our local Sainsburys had loads of them yesterday so maybe Sainsburys as a whole ordered loads.
