DD is mocking me because I'm putting my winter decor up.

I can't be the only one who does this? I also change my cushions and sometimes my curtains Blush

@Cocolapew you are an inspiration!
I think your winter decor is lovely. Very jealous of the fireplace and a husband who lets you put mirrors up. I sometimes suspect mine of being a vampire with his aversion to mirrors!
I changed to our winter duvet at the weekend and the throws have been down a few weeks.
But we definitely need some fairy lights!

MrsBeltane · 21/10/2020 18:56

My neighbour has a wintery wreath on her front door. Not sure if it's a Christmas one, if it is, it's far too early!

ArtichokeAardvark · 21/10/2020 19:01

If it makes you happy and you have the time and money to redecorate with the changing seasons, go for it. My MIL is the same - she redecorates on an almost monthly basis for autumn, halloween, generic winter, Christmas, valentines, Easter, etc! She's done it ever since my SIL went off to university apparently, I suspect her of severe chronic empty nesting...

peridito · 21/10/2020 20:29

@Acunningruse no I don't sell them ,I just really like doing them .( but they do take me a long time ..)

MissScarletInTheSnug · 22/10/2020 21:34

As a direct result of this thread I went out today to buy autumn / winter decor. I ended up buying metallic pumpkin fairy lights from Poundland of all places. They are so pretty but the children are rolling their eyes at me a bit.

Ernieshere · 23/10/2020 09:21

@MissScarletInTheSnug

Im off to Poundland! I don't usually do Halloween decs (jist summer/winter) but sod it.

My DM used to do this (not sure if she still does). She used to get the thicker curtains up

Ilikewinter · 23/10/2020 09:25

I put on a winter tog duvet and change the tea towels and oven glove to one with gingerbread men patterns on....that shouts christmas to me!

Cocolapew · 23/10/2020 09:44

Changing the tea towels is dedication :impressed:

Ahhhhh so much hygge!

This year we’ve moved into our lovely old house so we’ve already got the wool blankets and sheepskins out, plus lots of candles (compulsory for a Dane!). I’ve not decorated for autumn per se because I’d have to buy a load of things and I’m trying not to buy too much right now. But I might put out my big pine ones as a nod to the season. I could totally go crazy with a beautiful autumn display, though.......

SouterSally · 23/10/2020 10:08

I have started to change things for the dark cold seasons!

The sofas get different coloured covers on, I do some dried autumn leaves with pine cones in large wooden bowls , generally change decorative items (but I am always doing that).

Heavy weight bedding and thicker throws, on the arms of the sofas, and very small led lights in the loo, nice around 4pm when its getting dusky!

I enjoy 'faffing' so suits me!

AriettyHomily · 23/10/2020 10:14

It's autumn! We've got the autumn decor out and will do till we are past Halloween.

The kids however have their christmas duvets on already, they asked for them and couldn't come up with a valid reason to say no.

Lowkee · 23/10/2020 11:12

MaddieElla I love your photo - if your home is all like that, I want similar!

user1471538283 · 23/10/2020 15:31

My DGM had winter curtains. I don't change anything except wintry candles and the heating on full pelt

vanillandhoney · 23/10/2020 16:44

All our fairy lights are up, my sherpa blanket has arrived and the teddy bear bedding will be going on the bed tomorrow!

TurquoiseDragon · 23/10/2020 20:19

I don't change the curtains, or anything like that. I add a thermal door curtain to front and back doors, and maybe some little decorative changes around the fireplace. I don't change my bedroom, because that's just right for me to feel relaxed to sleep. I do have a summer bedspread that acts like a thin duvet, which I've just changed for my weighted blanket. If it gets colder, I'll throw the summer bedspread on top.
