I can't be the only one who does this? I also change my cushions and sometimes my curtains Blush

I think it's a lovely idea. My mum used to do the bedding and the curtains in Winter, but not the decs.

shinynewapple2020 · 20/10/2020 18:14

To the people saying they've never heard of winter and summer curtains , growing up we always had curtain liners which my mum would put up in the Autumn and take down and wash in Spring. My MIL made me liners to put into my curtains when we first got married. but I couldn't be bothered to take them down again ! I've got blinds now , I like thought they made the house look a bit more modern but they don't have that cosy feel

VividImagination · 20/10/2020 18:19

I’ve turned the mattress cover from the cotton side to the fleecy side. Does that count. I’m minimalist and only have a tiny fibre optic tree.

lakesidewinter · 20/10/2020 18:21

Some of my fall stuff.
The leaves are a kitchen mat, the other stuff is in the sitting room.
It is gently scattered throughout the house and isn't more than a box of stuff to bring out and put away.

I think it looks lovely OP.

garlictwist · 20/10/2020 18:25

You change the curtains? Fuck that!

Ernieshere · 20/10/2020 18:26

Ooh YANBU.

Halloween Blush My green velvet curtains went up today, and the yellow cotton ones will go back up in the spring Star

vanillandhoney · 20/10/2020 18:27

I've just ordered teddy bear bedding! I've also switched to the autumnal wax melts - cinnamon, gingerbread and the like. I have fairy lights I need to put up but keep forgetting - that's now on my list for jobs to do tomorrow!

joystir59 · 20/10/2020 18:27

Your home, your rules

LeglessGiraffe · 20/10/2020 18:27

Ooh I don't do this but now I so want to!! I envision five changes a year:
Winter - fluffy throws, snowflake/stag cushions, candle holders, thick dark curtains
Easter - little tree to hold Easter egg painted baubles, maybe an Easter wreath, spring themed cushions with flowers on, lighter flowered curtains.
Summer - same cushions and curtains as spring but add a few vases for weekly fresh flowers.
Autumn/Halloween - little tree with pumpkins etc on, winter curtains and cushions
and finally Christmas - AAAALLLL the Christmas decs.

Unfortunately between being skint, having no storage space and having small children who would trash the lot, this will remain a fantasy Grin

VenusClapTrap · 20/10/2020 18:30

It’s taken me eight years to replace the previous owners curtains with my own fabric choices. I’ve had fabric swatches all over the house for an age while I’ve been deciding, and I finally gave the curtain maker the go ahead today. I cannot wait for them to be made and to get them hung.

They are costing so bloody much I’m hoping they’ll last for the next thirty years at least! I am fainting at the idea of changing them seasonally.

Coffeecak3 · 20/10/2020 18:31

I just bought my dn a book called Welcome Home. It’s all about dressing your home for the different seasons.

DuaneBenziesvoice · 20/10/2020 18:32

I absolutely could not be arsed faffing about changing curtains.

I change my quilt to a thicker one but that's so we don't get cold
over night.
The quilt covers are the same ones we use all year.

I've never heard of anyone having seasonal decor.

supadupapupascupa · 20/10/2020 18:33

But it's autumn, mid autumn. Not winter?

BaronessBomburst · 20/10/2020 18:33

No, Easter should be vases of twigs with mini eggs and decorations hanging on them, not trees.

Bluntness100 · 20/10/2020 18:34

Is that bunting I can see reflected in one of the mirrors op? 😀

It does look xmasy due to the Garland being frosted pine cones. It’s not something I’d do as I’m inherently lazy but I can’t see why not if you like it.

Poppingnostopping · 20/10/2020 18:35

I don't do this, but it does look cute! Unfortunately I struggle to do even minimal decorating to a basic standard and I'm totally in awe of people with colour schemes which then change with the seasons. It's beyond anything I could hope to achieve!

Apparently people who reinterpret season change in a positive way are less depressed in winter- so if you think 'winter's a lovely time to snuggle up' then you cope better. I don't think that, I think things like I hate everything til April, but you can't be perfect.

teenmumandsowhat · 20/10/2020 18:42

Not really my kinda thing, too much faff for me! But each to their own...

The most i do is get out my cosy blankets and throws. I have two beautiful patchwork blankets made by my mum when i was little, and a lovely woven blanket.

I have inherited my parents stingyness when it comes to the temperature of the thermostat so I will often curl up on the sofa with a blanket instead of putting the heating on.

Suzi888 · 20/10/2020 18:43

YANBU I also get my furry throws & cushions out! Candles etc

Hippopotas · 20/10/2020 18:44

I want to do decorations for spring, summer and autumn then change to Christmas ones. DH thinks it’s too mental and will clutter the house so I haven’t done it yet! I might start in spring.

notalwaysalondoner · 20/10/2020 18:45

I always suspected people must do this as how else do you explain all the seasonal homeware you get in shops at this time of year - not Christmas decorations but actual homeware like furry cushions and throws and cosy things like you’d expect in a luxury Nordic cabin or something. People can’t buy homeware just for Christmas so I always suspected people with enough storage must have whole “winter furnishings” stored somewhere that they crack out each year and add to occasionally. You’ve proved me right! I don’t as we live in a tiny flat with no storage but quite like the idea!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/10/2020 18:45

I have a string of copper lights that go on the mantle. They make the room feel warmer somehow. We also have a middle set of curtains to divide our through room which we put up when the heating/fire starts going on, to save heating a huge space in the evenings

Cocolapew · 20/10/2020 18:47

No DD is 22 and wants the Christmas tree up Hmm.
I'd freeze if I didnt put heavier curtains up. I'm jealous of the green velvet ones Envy
I did check out Autumn decs on Amazon but decided by the time they came it would be over.
I'll be prepared for next year Grin
Yes it's bunting. I'm ridiculously twee 😁. I love looking a vintage style fabric, it cheers me up.

I love it! I'm too lazy to actually do it but I love the idea.

Ginkypig · 20/10/2020 18:49

Where the hell do you all keep entire seasons worth of extra home decorations as well as Christmas and possibly also Halloween!
