I can't be the only one who does this? I also change my cushions and sometimes my curtains Blush

I the absence of fresh flowers, I cut some stuff from the garen in a vase on the dining table. But what's out now is heavily-berried holly & ivy. It looks lovely. Mince pie, anyone? Grin

ifIwerenotanandroid · 20/10/2020 20:43

GARDEN!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 20/10/2020 20:43

And IN!

ifIwerenotanandroid · 20/10/2020 20:45

And PUT instead of cut.

I give up.

cravingthelook · 20/10/2020 20:45

I have fairy lights and lit twigs and candles all year ... I just change the scent of the candles 😂

DragonPie · 20/10/2020 20:46

Winter decor is a thing??

I honestly don’t know anyone who does this.

MasksGlovesSoapScrubs · 20/10/2020 20:48

@Cocolapew

The small chair gets 'covered' (it's only set on it) in vintage Santa fabric and gets a Christmas cushion 😂 No Christmas stuff til December though.
Looks cosy. I don't have winter decorations. I put my Christmas decorations up in November always have done. You like mirrors don't you Grin
T33l9 · 20/10/2020 20:54

I love your fireplace set up OP, very cosy Smile

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 20/10/2020 20:58

Looks great op. Can I move in!

Ginfordinner · 20/10/2020 20:58

I don't know anyone who does this either (neither do I, being a bit of a minimalist), but if it cheers people up why not?

vanillandhoney · 20/10/2020 21:01

@Cocolapew

Yay *@vanillandhoney* we'll be cosy and snug together Smile
The blanket should be here by Friday, fingers crossed!

The dog has already commandeered the blanket Grin

Hiddennameforever · 20/10/2020 21:01

I have the same.
I got autumn leaves fairy lights out in September.

In a summer we have beach huts and nautical theme.
This goes into hiding and autumn bits come out.
In October we get Halloween decs out.
In November slowly adding winter stuff like snowy theme cushions etc.
In beginning of Dec Xmas fully come out in our house.
During the year stars and hearts.

MysweetAudrina · 20/10/2020 21:04

When the clocks go back, I have a winter tree, I put up in the sitting room. I also change my bedroom colours from pink to navy. Just the rug, bedspread and pillow cases. I also hang fairy lights. We have no curtains in the house, just blinds so n/a.

Cocolapew · 20/10/2020 21:08

A winter tree? Do I need one?
Any photos?

We don't do this, only Christmas decorations. But when it gets to autumn I make an effort to actually light all the candles round the fireplace rather than having them just sat there!

But our house is very small, I like to be minimalist, and I don't have the space to store additional items, so that's also why, I guess.

I love your wall of mirrors!

OohThatCat · 20/10/2020 21:09

My friend has a Halloween tree!

Cocolapew · 20/10/2020 21:12

I don't light candles because me and DH have dodgy lungs so I stick to the lights.
There's not one mirror in the right place to see yourself in Blush

I have good quality lined winter curtains, 2 pairs, for living room window and full height patio doors. They were less than 1/2 price in Debenhams sale over 10 years ago, I think about £150 in total so I've had my money's worth.

My summer ones are unlined cheapos from £stretcher so it evens out.

SuperEkstra · 20/10/2020 21:17

Nah, looks lovely. I fancy a cup of tea and a snuggle at yours!

VaggieMight · 20/10/2020 21:19

I get the tea lights holders out, use fake tea lights if you don't want a flame. I get fairy lights out too and change the throws/blankets in the living room and I have a basket with fluffy slippers, socks and hot water bottles which goes in the living room.

oobedobe · 20/10/2020 21:21

I do this. Live in a smallish house but we have great storage!

I do small touches of fall decor in the run up to Canadian Thanksgiving (Oct 12), they have all been gathered over the years and only stuff I love gets kept. Few ceramic pumpkins and a nice lantern with those glimmer lights on the coffee table, mini white pumpkins scattered on consoles or tables, a nice autumn leaves tablecloth and some pretty candle holders on the dining table.

This gets left up End Sept until End Nov.

December is all the christmassy knick knacks/lights etc, I do everything but the tree the first weekend, then get the tree about half way through Dec.

Christmas stuff goes away after New Year but I have a 'winter tree' one of those twiggy ones that I leave up until March, cause it looks so nice and cozy.

We have long dark cold winters so it is nice to cosy up the inside.

ItsLikeSputnik · 20/10/2020 21:23

I don’t do it, but growing up my Mum changed the living room curtains to “winter curtains” - mainly to keep out drafts pre double glazing.
Can’t believe no one has commented on the wally dogs you have on your hearth OP - they are fabulous!

Bluntness100 · 20/10/2020 21:32

I’ve blinds so also not applicable, the fairy lights are out all year round, they are wound round tall plants in corners of rooms, and the furry throws and to be honest also other throws, stay out all year too, they are just on arms or backs of sofas. Candles are also out all year round. Literally nothing gets changed here,😀

HoxtonBonnet · 20/10/2020 21:33

What a lovely idea OP. I take great pleasure in the turning of each season and celebrating it. I don't have winter decor, but I have been lighting candles every evening since it got darker. I am also enjoying the trend I see for autumn garlands on people's doors.

Ingridla · 20/10/2020 21:46

My mum kind of does, this and I am going to now too! Bring on cosy winter nights since we're not allowed to go out anyway, might as well make the place feel as lovely as possibly Smile
