I can't be the only one who does this? I also change my cushions and sometimes my curtains Blush

I live in NI we've gone straight into Winter

Fair enough, OP. Fair enough. You're basically Scandinavia up there, so no judgment from me, henceforth. Grin Am I allowed to admit that I'm kind of jealous and want to snuggle up in fairy lights and cinnamon warmth after reading this thread? You actually have winter curtains. See, that is living life on a knife's edge. That's properly living when you have seasonal curtains. Our 25-year-old curtain rod collapsed two months ago and we still haven't replaced the rod (or the ancient curtains!). It's so naked and cold looking, our window. I wish I had some winter curtains!! And frosted pinecones... and fairy lights. Smile

LesLavandes · 20/10/2020 21:54

My grandmother, also from N Ireland did the seasonal curtain and sofa cover changeover

Cocolapew · 20/10/2020 22:01

It's practically the Artic 😌
I'm beginning to wish I had proper winter curtains now, with snowflakes or stags on them Grin not just ones that pull the whole way across my window.

OP I love your living room - the lights, the mirrors, the china dogs, bunting and all!

My mum used to rearrange the sofas in Autumn but that was principally to expose the radiators so the heating could work properly.

I already have candles (St Eval winter thyme, bay and rosemary and figgy pudding) and always have lights, but you have inspired me to order some autumn garlands from Etsy.

OneKeyAtATime · 20/10/2020 22:15

Do you have a spring decor or do you skip straight to the summer one? :)

MissScarletInTheSnug · 20/10/2020 22:18

Oooh I think i need some seasonal decor. We need more pics people for inspiration.

pretty much move onto summer after the Easter decoration is over, though it's more gradual depending on the weather.

I love the idea of this but in reality I just can't be arsed!
I don't have any curtains at all and my cushions are the ones that came with the sofas. Those candle things look lovely and cosy but I know I won't bother lighting them.

Cocolapew · 20/10/2020 22:37

I really have any more photos but here's one of my dog with a box on her head

I can't manage interior seasonal decor so I confine myself to seasonal milk bottle holders

( not v good pics and they look better in the flesh )

I have an Easter one as well .

Toilenstripes · 21/10/2020 08:58

@lakesidewinter

Some of my fall stuff. The leaves are a kitchen mat, the other stuff is in the sitting room. It is gently scattered throughout the house and isn't more than a box of stuff to bring out and put away.
Your cat is gorgeous!
drinkingwineoutofamug · 21/10/2020 08:58

Winter duvet
Fluffy bedding
Winter candles
I don't change my curtains as I always buy heavy duty lined black out ones. As I'm not making Xmas cake or mince pies this year I've got a nice smelly candle.

Bluesheep8 · 21/10/2020 09:37

I have a summer weight duvet and a winter weight one, but that's it. Never heard of anyone doing this.

I don't even manage this - I just add another bedcover or throw. Minimal Christmas decs (tree) go up the day before Christmas Eve here.
I'm fascinated by the fact that some people transform their homes just because it's a different season

Acunningruse · 21/10/2020 09:45

@peridito I love those! Do you sell them?

lakesidewinter · 21/10/2020 12:47

@Toilenstripes Thank you, he is an old boy now so likes a fluffy blanket.

Orcadianrythyms · 21/10/2020 13:06

I came on this thread to laugh at such nonsense and I've just bought maple leaf fairy lights - I'm so weak😏

@Cocolapew

CandyLeBonBon that's amateur for Christmas decs! One year I managed to fit one of the disco light bulbs to the back of the tree, so it shone all over the ceiling. Then had a couple of hundred flashing lights. We had to keep them off if my Dad was here because he has epilepsy, DH said it looked like a rave
Op, you sound lovely and your home sounds warm and welcoming! Enjoy your winter decor ThanksWineHalloween Grin (closest thing to a Santa!)
peaceanddove · 21/10/2020 18:47

Every October, I break out the Winter weight duvets, the brushed cotton bedding and the throws for the sofas. I also swap my Summer linen cushions for my Winter velvet ones and put the draft excluder along the bottom of the front door. I even change my home scent to something more seasonal, usually buy the Winter scented candles from The White Company, though their Autumn range is lovely too.
