I can't be the only one who does this? I also change my cushions and sometimes my curtains Blush

It looks beautiful. I live in an old farmhouse and often think about putting up lights in Autumn.

CovidStoleTheRainbow · 20/10/2020 18:55

I JUST bought (yet more) star lights from Amazon, and DH had the audacity to tell me not to get carried away with the 'winter decor'.

Take heed, there's NEVER too much winter decor!

bakereld · 20/10/2020 18:56

OP, your winter decor sounds lovely. I really want to do the same :)

Cocolapew · 20/10/2020 18:58

@Ginkypig

Where the hell do you all keep entire seasons worth of extra home decorations as well as Christmas and possibly also Halloween!
It's only a handful of things. Christmas decs are in the roof space.

If I could afford it I'd love to put winter curtains up and velvets etc.

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 20/10/2020 19:00

Op what star lights, inside or outside and are they warm white?

Cocolapew · 20/10/2020 19:03

I don't have star lights Sad
B and M or Home Bargains are good for lights. Mine are on a dark green wire.
I like to be cosy

Warm white are best indoors if it's to look cosy.

It's 17 degrees here today so no. November onwards for fairy lights, spiced candle scents and furry shit here, then December for more Christmas themed stuff like Holly from the woods, twigs of berries etc. Then second weekend of December for xmas tree(s). New Years day the lot comes down and put up fresh flowers and Spring bulbs, clean cotton candles etc.

dementedma · 20/10/2020 19:06

We have fairy lights all year round. We do hang a curtain behind the draughty front door in winter but otherwise its all just stays the same

Cocolapew · 20/10/2020 19:09

The small chair gets 'covered' (it's only set on it) in vintage Santa fabric and gets a Christmas cushion 😂
No Christmas stuff til December though.

@MaddieElla please don't put a candle into a bowl of dried leaves, it's a fire risk!

Loving the idea of changing decor with the seasons but I'm too disorganised to manage it. We do have a couple of assorted mixed squashes on the table, but they will be eaten by Halloween.

hellolittlebaby · 20/10/2020 19:13

I don't think it's unusual. I think a lot of influencers on Instagram do this kind of thing.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 20/10/2020 19:16

I’ll join you. Love a bit of seasonal decoration (don’t do curtains though!)
My teens tease me but sod all else to do at the weekends at the moment! I would NEVER have put this much effort in when kids were little but I love it now. More is more.

I'm now googling full length, green velvet curtains Blush

That IS Christmas stuff though! That literally looks like the start of a Santa's grotto! 😂. If it makes you happy, go for it, but it's definitely on the Christmassy side!
northbacchus · 20/10/2020 19:30

My MIL is the same, lots of seasonal decorations and she has enough Christmas items to open her own Christmas stand! I envy both of your dedication!

maddiemookins16mum · 20/10/2020 19:32

Yep, we put our winter curtains up, get the tartan throws out for the sofas (with coordinating cushion covers) and use different duvet covers. I also put a heavy duty door mat/runner in the kitchen (we tend to use the back door more as it leads from the parking area) so it protects the floor from wetter shoes etc. I also have more tea light holders dotted around. I washed the summer curtains today, they’ll go in an empty suitcase up the loft until next spring.

CandyLeBonBon that's amateur for Christmas decs!
One year I managed to fit one of the disco light bulbs to the back of the tree, so it shone all over the ceiling. Then had a couple of hundred flashing lights. We had to keep them off if my Dad was here because he has epilepsy, DH said it looked like a rave

LlamaofDrama · 20/10/2020 19:38

I used to have winter and summer sofa covers. That way they got taken off and washed and changed twice a year. New sofa changed that. I have muttered about winter and summer curtains but I've been here 20 years and haven't done it yet... still got the curtains left by the old owners!

pincertoe · 20/10/2020 19:39

My mil used to change curtains for thicker ones and move the furniture to expose radiator. I always found it weird.

We do have some Christmas cushions that come out with the decorations

Entrant6 · 20/10/2020 19:40

I have spring/summer and autumn/winter cushions and a different garland that goes on the
Mantle piece (+ fairy lights) for each season, plus a Christmas one.
My autumn garland is my favourite one and I’m always a bit sad when December arrives and ai have to swap it for the winter one.

LolaSmiles · 20/10/2020 19:43

The garland looks lovely, but its definitely christmassy to me.

The idea of having seasonal changes that you inbox each year sounds great though, much better than having a new theme every few months based on whatever The Range and assorted shops have decided is 'in'.
