I can't be the only one who does this? I also change my cushions and sometimes my curtains Blush

I change one set of curtains. Cushions, throws, some pictures and occasionally lampshade in the bedroom. It's nice to ring the changes. Just makes it seem cosy.

Cocolapew · 20/10/2020 19:45

You know whst else i do during the day? Put a video of a real fire on the telly from YouTube BlushGrin

For those horrified at the curtains its only 2 sets. I need a heavier one at the door that leads to the porch, which is in my living room, because of the draught and the living room ones I usually have up are long and would cover the radiator if pulled, so shorter ones go up.

Its quite an American thing. I love Autumn so put an Autumn wreath up and our pumpkins and Autumn scented candles

JeannieTheZebra · 20/10/2020 19:50

@LeglessGiraffe those changes are pretty much exactly what I do. I’m German and it’s a German thing. It’s normal there and I brought it with me. Houses look so bare without seasonal decorations IMO.

MaddieElla · 20/10/2020 19:51

@NYCDreaming don’t worry, candles are usually gifts from people that are only for show in my house.

SBTLove · 20/10/2020 19:51

I’m surprised at people never having heard of winter curtains, obviously heavier curtains for colder weather and light ones for summer.
No house is without a draft somewhere .

Cocolapew · 20/10/2020 19:52

I lived in Germany when i was young and I loved the Easter trees people put up.

It’s actually quite hard to find nice non Halloween autumn decorations and candles in UK. America have a lovely selection

JeannieTheZebra · 20/10/2020 19:53

The Americans got it from Germany/Central Europe. Central Europe has had a huge cultural influence on America, in general.

There are nice ones on Amazon, leaves and pumpkins etc. I just thought about it too late. Its officially winter in my house.

Do what makes you happy op

IceniWarrior · 20/10/2020 19:57

I do spring and Easter, autumn, Halloween, winter and Christmas decorations. Just celebrating the seasons really which is a big part of my life. Nature.

Cant stand summer though and I just ignore it.

RedLimoncello · 20/10/2020 19:59

One word- Etsy. I've done a window up with autumn fairy lights this year. It's so cosy.

I have a door curtain that gets taken down in spring and back up in autumn. Does that count?

IceniWarrior · 20/10/2020 20:03

Also you can collect autumn decorations from outside. Pumpkins, pinecone, conkers, acorns etc

Cocolapew · 20/10/2020 20:15

I have been looking for winter curtains this week! Thought I would change the ones in the sitting room for ones that are more cosy.

Seems like a good idea to me..

vanillandhoney · 20/10/2020 20:31

This thread has inspired me to put my soft white fairy lights up and to finally order the sherpa blanket I've had my eye on! My current blanket will be passed down to the dog and I'll get a new warm, snuggly one instead Grin

Yellredder · 20/10/2020 20:32

My neighbour always changes her curtains and sofa covers at this time of year from a light to darker colour.

BreathlessCommotion · 20/10/2020 20:37

The Danish do this. Its part of creating Hygge.

Cocolapew · 20/10/2020 20:37

Yay @vanillandhoney we'll be cosy and snug together Smile

I understand winter bedding and yes perhaps curtains, but why anything else?

user1485461206 · 20/10/2020 20:38

I currently have all my cream and gold pumpkins and pine cones out, different scented yankee candles and autumn wreath on the front door, wanted different cushions but the husbands put a stop to that, I’ll switch it to Christmas stuff in December then back to my usual in January, apart from adding my spring wreath
Homesense has some lovely autumn decor in, sells so fast so must be a fair few people out there who do it.
