EnjoyingTheSilence · 05/10/2020 16:17

Yep so was made redundant this morning. Absolutely gutted, really loved the job and the company. Sodding Covid

MJMG2015 · 05/10/2020 16:23

Cos it's 4:20pm & I can't justify having a nap!!

🤣

I don't sleep well, but I've had to ban myself from MN in the night, otherwise I never get back to sleep!!

Best wishes with non sleeping babies & all other worries 🌷

Frownette · 05/10/2020 17:11

I'm sorry @EnjoyingTheSilence Flowers

Something else will come up. I'll join you in sticking the middle finger up at COVID though...

FourPlasticRings · 05/10/2020 17:32

Oh, I'm so sorry @EnjoyingTheSilence. It's really rubbish. You'll find something else soon. Flowers

@YukoandHiro It must be so nice to know where the finish line is. If I get to Wednesday with no baby they'll book an induction in for me for going over dates. At this rate we'll end up induced on the same day!

EnjoyingTheSilence · 05/10/2020 18:42

Thanks. Hopefully I cram get some sleep tonight. Still feeling really ill but if I can just sleep that will help.

Re the job, you’re right, something will turn up, it could end up being a good thing.

Hope everyone else gets some sleep tonight, you all helped me last night. Sweet dreams 😴

CampfireZen · 06/10/2020 00:48

Aaaargh!

Managed to drift off at earlyish time, via a self-hypnosis guided relaxation (Michael Sealey, an Aussie on YouTUBE: would highly recommend, my fellow insomniacs).

2 hrs later, woken by massive clattering noise outside my ajar window.

Nearly had a coronary.

Thanks, dear roof tile which chose 12.35 to fall off onto ruddy metal bucket...

CampfireZen · 06/10/2020 00:50

@EnjoyingTheSilence, so sorry to hear. That's shit. Better times ahead for you, I really hope.

bloodywhitecat · 06/10/2020 00:53

Because DP has cancer (pancreatic), we got the diagnosis last week and tonight he has spiked another temperature despite starting on antibiotics today. I am terrified that Covid will close hospitals again before he has a chance to have his surgery (his only, slim, chance of survival) and I don't know how to make things happen more quickly.

CampfireZen · 06/10/2020 00:59

@bloodywhitecat,
I can only imagine how scared you must be feeling: am happy to listen if it would help to offload, though?
(Or message me, if you prefer?)

Frownette · 06/10/2020 01:04

@bloodywhitecat how long is it until his surgery? It's a bit unnerving all this talk about a more stringent lockdown. A friend with cancer has been affected by lockdown as well.

Hoping for you.

bloodywhitecat · 06/10/2020 01:07

We were told 2-4 weeks last Wednesday, he's down for the next available slot but we haven't been given a date yet. Not having a date is the hard bit, a least if we knew when he was going in we could start to make plans.

CalmRedSea · 06/10/2020 01:18

Just had a conversation with DD on aphantasia and we tested ourselves.

@EnjoyingTheSilence I hope you find something exciting in the future.

@bloodywhitecat that kind of worry is enough to keep you awake for sure Brew

CampfireZen · 06/10/2020 01:21

Family friends are in similar predicament regarding serious surgery: wife told me it's like the worst kind of limbo, awaiting confirmation of date at this particularly changeable time.

So hard for you all.

CampfireZen · 06/10/2020 01:23

@CalmRedSea,
Pardon my ignorance, but what's aphantasia?

RussetandGold · 06/10/2020 01:26

Tentatively joining... in waiting for my partner to reach his destination for work. He’s driving & left later than expected because we had big talks about our relationship earlier.

@bloodywhitecat I’m sorry about your situation. That sounds so stressful and frustrating. Wishing your DH all the best

StartingOver2020 · 06/10/2020 01:27

Trying to pack boxes for van on Wednesday and finding it tough.

orangejuicer · 06/10/2020 01:29

DS woke up and took a while to settle, now it's my turn.

Whitecat I'm sorry to hear about your DP. Fingers crossed you hear soon.

CalmRedSea · 06/10/2020 01:35

It’s visualising mental imagery. We were discussing if when you are asked to visualise, for example, a beach, do you recall one from memory or are you able to imagine one from scratch or if you close your eyes can you not see an image of a beach at all.

CampfireZen · 06/10/2020 01:35

@CalmRedSea,

Just Googled: what were your & DD's results?
It's something I'd never considered before.
I must have the opposite to it.

CampfireZen · 06/10/2020 01:38

@CalmRedSea, it's very interesting. Will read up. I wonder what dreams are like, for those who have it.

CalmRedSea · 06/10/2020 01:41

I can imagine images easily DD can not. DD told me tonight that when you dream you only dream of faces that you have already seen either in passing, on tv, magazines etc but you will have seen them and not imagined them. I don’t know if this is true but it made for good discussion. What were your results?

CalmRedSea · 06/10/2020 01:43

We are x posting! So you just have a vivid imagination with images Smile

CampfireZen · 06/10/2020 01:43

Oh I don't need to test myself. I have a way too visual mind's eye & very vivid dreams

CalmRedSea · 06/10/2020 01:44

Must have not just. The Zzzzz are coming
