I can't sleep and was just wondering why other people would be awake at this hour

Working a night shift

Morporkia · 05/10/2020 02:28

I’m lying here worrying about my DH who is having the mother of all ulcerative colitis flare ups. He’s been put on new meds and nurse forgot to mention he would need a blood test 2 weeks after starting. We found out via a letter that arrived on Friday. 3 weeks after he started the new meds. He’s having worrying side effects and I know I have to be awake at 8am in order to get on phone to doc at 8.30...therefore I am wide awake because I know I need to be asleep.

PapercraftNinja · 05/10/2020 02:31

Bad anxiety at the moment and have to literally get so exhausted I just fall asleep!

Stupid really because my youngest went to bed so early it would have been a great opportunity to catch up. Always the way!

Interesting to see so many others with so many different reasons up!

PapercraftNinja · 05/10/2020 02:35

Sorry just realised I’m late to the party on this one!

Sorry to hear some of you aren’t well, hope you manage to get some rest soon x

Jedimastermama · 05/10/2020 02:39

I’ve just fed the LO and he’s settled back to sleep Smile and now I’m thinking about Christmas Hmm I might just take a peep and do some online shopping with a cup of tea as feel wide awake.

Hope everyone settles back to a restful sleep soon 😴

feelingsomewhatlost · 05/10/2020 02:49

I've just never been able to regulate/discipline myself into going to sleep. Currently sat on the sofa knowing I should have gone to bed 3 hours ago but I can't be bothered.

EnjoyingTheSilence · 05/10/2020 02:51

I’m feeling really really ill bad cold (no Covid symptoms), one cat woke me up looking for the other one and I think I’m being made redundant tomorrow so feeling incredibly sorry for myself. Oh and not been there 2 years so not entitled to anything

feelingsomewhatlost · 05/10/2020 03:00

Oh I'm so sorry @EnjoyingTheSilence that's crap Flowers

ouch321 · 05/10/2020 03:44

Interesting that the rain is keeping someone up, find it quite soothing and sleep inducing. No rain here tonight.

Frownette · 05/10/2020 04:15

Went to bed very early and woke up very early, just made a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich.

Things will work out @EnjoyingTheSilence

PolytheneHam · 05/10/2020 04:22

9 month old DS won't sleep through the night. I'm not sure how much more of this I can take. I've always striggled with sleep myself (takes an age to drop off), and now I'm back at work part time, I find myself having to do a twelve hour shift after less than two hours of sleep. I feel permanently ill.

crankysaurus · 05/10/2020 04:29

I have a difficult conversation I need to have at work tomorrow, about something in really angry about, and have been stressed about one of the DC"s poor schooling. Could do with the sleep really.

thismeansnothing · 05/10/2020 04:50

I'm working the night shift picking everyone's online food orders doing the best I can on bog roll substitutions 🤦‍♀️

EachandEveryone · 05/10/2020 04:58

Thinking about my niece who we dropped off at uni in London today. I’ve never seen my sister cry so much it broke my heart. It is a big deal to be 18 coming to a busy city that you aren’t familiar with. There were hardly anyone in the halls and she’s quite shy. I haven’t slept a wink all night.

I’m sure she will be fine but my heart would be aching too. It’s such a strange time for students at the minute.
Stillfunny · 05/10/2020 05:27

DH has not had a job since March. He too is older and worried about the future.
But no matter what , I want him to leave. Found out almost 2 years ago , he had cheated . Still not over the shock . Life seems very bleak.
But good luck to all you pregnant ladies.

DeeDimer · 05/10/2020 05:27

Night shift (again!). 2 hours to go Smile

Frownette · 05/10/2020 05:29

@Stillfunny horrible shock. Does he know you want him to leave?

FourPlasticRings · 05/10/2020 05:48

Back again. Still pregnant. Slept relatively well but just woke up after an incredibly vivid dream where all my teeth fell out. Don't particularly want to return to sleep.

FourPlasticRings · 05/10/2020 05:56

I hope those that are ill feel better soon and that those up with anxiety/worried about the future were able to find some peace for a few hours.
@EnjoyingTheSilence that's rubbish, I am sorry.
@PolytheneHam what have you tried? Will he sleep better in your bed?
@PapercraftNinja Not late to the party at all- welcome!

YukoandHiro · 05/10/2020 06:01

Hi @FourPlasticRings, still pregnant here too... been awake worried about reduced movements for an hour, now baby is rocketing around in there! Typical.
Toddler has arisen so the day has started here. Let's face it I'm not going to sleeping for a year or so now...

FourPlasticRings · 05/10/2020 06:08

@YukoandHiro I'm glad movements have picked up for you. My toddler shall be up shortly- just me and her today and tomorrow, which is quite difficult at 40 weeks! I've lost all hope that this one plans to ever leave.

Here's hoping our second ones are those unicorn babies I hear about that somehow manage to sleep in their cots for longer than 10 minutes at night!

EnjoyingTheSilence · 05/10/2020 06:24

Thanks guys, I actually managed to sleep for 3 hours. Just need another10 😆

vodkaredbullgirl · 05/10/2020 06:26

Last few hours to work, then home to bed like that will ever happen

YukoandHiro · 05/10/2020 06:33

@FourPlasticRings Luckily it's a nursery day for us today, but I'm finding solo days so hard now too (38+1).
I'm being induced a week today due to having a few (well managed) complications. I want this pregnancy over with so much that so far I'm not nervous about that at all.
