Mine is (Jam For) World In Action. A very powerful and thought-provoking piece that suited the nature of the programme perfectly.

I quite liked Barnacle Bill from Blue Peter before the Mike Oldfield arrangement displaced it. A pleasant, jolly hockey sticks kind of number.

Incredible Games, that excellent 90s CBBC show with the dark knight and the giant bowl of soup swimming pool games.

Also:
Game of Thrones
OITNB
Grandstand
Match of the Day
Ski Sunday
Blockbusters
Airwolf
Hawaii Five 0
Pokémon Grin

One I've not seen mentioned is Nantucket Sleigh Ride, the song used for Weekend World.

Not a major favourite but certainly sticks in the head.

The original Coronation Street theme, before the relatively recent re-recording, is a memorable yet plaintive piece. I've never heard any music quite like it. The Crossroads theme from the 1970s is dramatic and punchy and brilliantly arranged. The Wings version is great but fades out too quickly and needs to be longer.

Round the Twist: Never especially like the show, but the theme tune was great
Poddington Peas
Both versions of Famous Five (70s and 90s)
The BBC Chronicles of Narnia
A team

And a radio one: "Break away" only heard that one when we were in the car going down to my gran's for the weekend.

Top of the pops - whole lotta love. Still remember the excitement every week when it came on to see who was number one!

Also love murder she wrote and black beauty.

BirdyBee · 17/02/2021 15:46

The musketeers (the bbc series)

Sooverthemill · 17/02/2021 15:50

Brideshead Revisited. Beautiful calming music, often played on Classic FM

The London Programme (80s)

There was also another 80s programme that had a theme tune by Sibelius, anyone remember?

Ever Drcreasing Circles had a great theme too

Howard's Way, reminds me of family Sunday nights getting ready for school the next day!

ZaZathecat · 17/02/2021 16:24

The Persuaders. There are some great tv themes from the 70s.

LoveFall · 17/02/2021 16:59

Hawai'i Five O. Love the scenery and reminds me of the parrot in a hotel lobby on Kawaii who dances to that piece of music.

poppycat10 · 17/02/2021 17:07

I think it has to be the original All Creatures Great and Small but also:

Blakes 7
Poldark (old and new)
The Onedin Line (bit of a cheat as it wasn't original music but taking that music for the TV series was a stroke of genius)
Cagney & Lacey
Secret Army
The Rockford Files
Ski Sunday
4 What it's worth (consumer programme on Channel 4)
Original Brookside theme

And radio theme - PM on Radio 4. I think they did away with it after someone (Diana?) died and never reinstated it.

poppycat10 · 17/02/2021 17:08

I'd completely forgotten about Howards Way but yes - better than the programme ever was!

poppycat10 · 17/02/2021 17:08
