Curry I hope you do not mind?
I put the last message in, and didn't find a new thread. Which I found disquiting, so to calm my nerves here goes.

DS is all sniffly again and has gone to bed early without complaint. It was his first full school day today and I think he’s shattered already 😬

I’m going to get my haircut tomorrow. I have to decide whether to take the park and ride into town, and miss out on the stress of parking plus award myself environmental brownie points, but gain the stress of risking getting a ping on my phone about contact tracing... don’t know what to do.

Oh do you get that? I haven't had any pings so far.

I might wash my hair. Friend just texted and said coke or lemonade and that he's got me a bottle of fizzy. Assume that means prosecco unless he means orangeade.

lachy · 28/09/2020 19:50

I hope you are all sitting down - I am flicking through the lakeland brochure, making mental notes about the bits I need.

bearlyactive · 28/09/2020 19:53

I had the cheesecake Smile

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/09/2020 20:19

Good, I hope you feel properly virtuous.

No cake here and no chocolate. I think it'll be toast or sth.
At least it will be dry tomorrow when we walk to the station.

DH is making homemade pizza for dinner tonight, with bacon and pepperoni. I can't wait. He gets the dough and sauce at a posh Italian supermarket.

BurtonHouse · 28/09/2020 21:22

There's nothing worth watching on the box tonight so I'm sitting in the kitchen ostensibly reading a whodunnit. But not, obviously.

goose1964 · 28/09/2020 21:37

The vacuum cleaner isn't working properly.

Champagneforeveryone · 28/09/2020 21:45

We've just watched "Des"

DH has just scurried off to bed looking more than usually on edge Grin

SpeedofaSloth · 28/09/2020 21:50

DS' Newton's Cradle desk toy thing is all tangled up. I might have a go at untangling it tomorrow evening, maybe.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/09/2020 22:00

DD bought herself some houseplants that can cope with north facing windows. She proudly - but of course calmly - showed me their new leaves.

I'm not happy, I bought a pair of suedette boots earlier. You're not allowed to try on in store.

I got the left one on after a monumental amount of wriggling and pulling. Right one still doesn't feel placed.

And they're over the knee as well.

Paranoidmarvin · 28/09/2020 22:15

@lachy oh I could spend a fortune in that shop.

FawnDrench · 28/09/2020 22:17

I have also just watched "Des" and thought it was both chilling and excellent.

I ate a packet of Quavers whilst watching it.

I am now going to have a cup of tea and a couple of ginger nuts.

KoalaandRabbit · 28/09/2020 23:07

I've just had a Muller Corner and am watching Below Deck. I also have some new toothpaste.

RepeatSwan · 29/09/2020 00:01

Just woken up after falling asleep too early so going to watch some rubbish on telly and hopefully fall asleep again!

Frownette · 29/09/2020 01:27

I think a student thought I was chatting him up earlier - I'd ordered a pizza and it was showing as outside so I merrily trotted out into the alleyway just as he was getting off his bike and said "hello, have you got a pizza for me?" and he said no, but he wished he did have a pizza.

Then spotted pizza guy behind him and went to collect, and on my return student guy said "ahh, that makes more sense now".

I'm a little embarassed he thought I was chatting him up. Unusual chat up line.

Susannahmoody · 29/09/2020 01:35

I made 6 banana breads at weekend. Gave 3 away.

Washed and dried the bathmats outside today.

Made an enormous pot of bolognaise today. Very rich and meaty.

Gave the kids a shower, surprisingly there was no screams. They usually hate it!

Tormundsbeard · 29/09/2020 01:52

The dog just woke me up. After letting him out I am looking at the internet while I wait to fall asleep.

RosieLemonade · 29/09/2020 08:14

I’m doing my Tuesday house clean after I drop DD off. Need to get storage boxes that fit under her tiny bed. Hoped to play the sims but DH is working from home.

Champagneforeveryone · 29/09/2020 08:14

I have to take DS to 6th form. The past 9 years he has had a free school bus because there's no safe walking route to school. Now he's in 6th form that apparently doesn't matter and he has to get there under his own steam.

I'm disproportionately annoyed at having to do this every day, twice a day, which is childish really as most parents do it for extended periods without bitching about it.

SpeedofaSloth · 29/09/2020 08:20

I tried Camp in hot milk this morning. On the first mouthful I thought "bleugh", but on the second mouthful I thought it was really nice and I drank it all.

sqirrelfriends · 29/09/2020 08:28

I'm wearing my new purchases from yesterday's shopping trip. A belted burgundy jumper dress and jaunty hair scarf in an autumn leaf print.

@Frownette and @MissConductUS have made me hungry for pizza, I might try my hand at a sourdough base tonight or just buy one from Waitrose.

DH's pizza was fabulous. I took a picture to send to DS.

By the way, I love this thread! It's great to be able to contribute all of the random bits on bobs going on.

I don't recognize most of the handles on here, so by way of introduction, I'm a New Yorker, a nurse, mum to an older DS and younger DD who are both at uni. I've been on MN about 3 years.

Buy the dough sqirrelfriends, it's way too much work to make. The pizza shops around here will also sell it for a few dollars.

@Frownette I think it’s only if you’ve been close to someone who registers a positive test for a certain amount of time? It tells you to self isolate. I don’t want one of those!

Waiting in the car for the park and ride bus - the car park is only about 20% full at the most so I think I’ll be ok. Wearing a skirt and boots because going into town for a haircut is the only chance I get!
