Curry I hope you do not mind?
I put the last message in, and didn't find a new thread. Which I found disquiting, so to calm my nerves here goes.

Next door are cooking cabbage. I live in a terrace and the smell of overcooked cabbage from my childhood is overpowering in every room of my house.

After calmy reading up on all your doings, I want to add that after working overtime again I came home to DH sleeping, DS watching a series dito DD.
I am hungry and will now search for food.

Wore my new green coat today, slightly to warm but with big pockets.

The loop that enables my dressing gown to hang unsexily on the hook on the back of the bedroom door unexpectedly broke this morning.

I may have to resort to mending it with a needle and thread -two items I have not attempted to utilise in decades.

Or I could just hang it up by it's wee collar and see how that goes.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/10/2020 18:46

I have a handful of clippety hooks for when I am to lazy to sow the hooks back on. They are intended for towels but work for heavyer stuff.

This usually ends badly for me, with a hole in the collar. Fortunately, DD is a whiz with her sewing machine and now fixes them for me.

DH made dinner this evening - lentil shepherds pie which was nice except there was no salt in the potato topping and I miss salt - I am trying cut down on my salt intake.

Taswama · 13/10/2020 21:26

Have just started reading Eagle Strike by Anthony Horrowitz. I may not be the target audience but its just the right level at the moment.

Three quarters of the banana cake appears to have been eaten since I made it yesterday.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/10/2020 21:36

DH slept until nine (he needed it - but it is my fault for not waking him).
DD's swapped brownies for her friend's pirogi with pear filling. Very tasty but I only got 1.

Sodding has been watching the AppleTV sea lion screensaver transfixed. DS2 went to bed without switching the TV off, so it’s currently cycling through all the restful clips. He just went round the back of the telly to look for them. I am overwhelmed by how adorable Sodding is right now.

The wool flannel dining chair covers survived the wool cycle and, having dried overnight, have gone back on chairs. I had to use a fish slice to push the flap of fabric that goes between the seat and back down the tiny gap. DH then started calling it the “[Sodding] thwacker“* because we had to keep shooing him away with it. He’s always willing to get involved but is a major hindrance to most human tasks.

  • No actual (hitting) thwacking occurred.

For the second day running DH and I agreed to put the heating on over lunch as the house had got too cold to work comfortably without it.

Took Dd for her 4 year old vax booster that she needs to be able to go to preschool next year.
Was expecting a big deal but she literally did not care at all. Not even an ouch or a sniffle.

KoalaRabbit · 14/10/2020 04:35

Just had a bowl of frosties, cat also agreed it was time for her 1st breakfast.

BillywigSting · 14/10/2020 07:22

I'm warming up some croissants for breakfast for me and ds. I'll have mine plain with a coffee. He can have juice and an apple.

Then I'll jump in the shower and try out my new soap and glory shower cream. It smells lovely but I have sensitive skin and have never used soap and glory stuff before. I hope it doesn't make me all blotchy.

I really want to wear my snag tights but I'm not going anywhere today apart from the school run and doing a bit of cleaning so it's probably not a good idea. They're so comfortable though, far more so than leggings with their seams and waistbands.

It's drizzling again.

I think I’m going to get my sewing machine out today. When DS was very tiny I carried him in a sling, and once he got big enough to go on my back, I bought a cheap fleece jacket in a big size and cut a hole in it for his head, so I could wear it over us both on winters dog walks. I found it again in the back of the cupboard the other day and of course no one will want a fleece with a huge hole in the back so I’m going to cut it up and use the fabric for things. I’m hoping I might be able to find a pattern for some ear warmers to go on our bike helmets for the winter school run and I want a fleece neck warmer as scarves are nice but a bit faffy when you’re rushing. Also one of the dining chair seat cushions needs fixing and I want to make some fabric baskets to keep hats, scarves and gloves in. Don’t think I’ll get all that done today but I will make a start.

Squirrel26 · 14/10/2020 08:45

It’s very sunny outside.
But my feet are cold and my big toes have gone numb.

Taswama · 14/10/2020 09:00

I have a very important meeting today so have decided to wear a nice dress. The meeting is on Teams but its the thought that counts isn't it?

fatherliamdeliverance · 14/10/2020 09:06

Just had to order a new microwave as the base has corroded through.. found a fun red retro style one that will look good in my kitchen. Eventful week for appliances at mine.

Spudlet · 14/10/2020 09:10

I’m just back from the school run, as usual started the trip chilly and now am boiling hot! I think I need to woman up and put fewer layers on as the cycling really does warm me up.

BillywigSting · 14/10/2020 09:32

Also back from the school run. Have booked ds into his breakfast up but it's not showing up on parentpay so I've phoned the school office and they're going to sort it out. Apparently they've had similar issues with after school club disappearing off other parents accounts.

I quite fancy another coffee but I'll never be off to toilet if I do so I might have a cup of tea instead. I got some nice herbal ones for my birthday that I haven't tried yet.

I never did get that shower. I'll do it tonight and wash my hair so it's not a total grease ball for work tomorrow.

My to do list is lovely and short today. If I get a move on I should be finished by lunchtime.

KoalaRabbit · 14/10/2020 09:34

Our silkie chickens are singing the egg song, someone's about to lay an egg. Their eggs are tiny about half the size of a hen's eggs.

MrsWooster · 14/10/2020 11:40

Whoever was asking about Christmas pudding: this is the recipe my dad used for ever. It’s gorgeous, a bit ‘lighter’ than traditional cp, and very useful if you have a vegetarian in your midst.

MrsWooster · 14/10/2020 11:42

Ps we steam the pud on the day we make it, then freeze it, defrost on C eve, and microwave it on the day.

Squirrel26 · 14/10/2020 11:51

Roofing guy has finished. He has sent before and after videos. It now looks very tidy up there.

Champagneforeveryone · 14/10/2020 11:56

I don't know if this will count as too exciting, but I had to order a replacement bed for DDog1.

I've just received a notification that it's 8 stops away

Frownette · 14/10/2020 11:59

@MrsWooster that's useful, thank you. But where is the brandy?! I thought that preserved it. I'll give it my best shot.

My hair has become so long now I'm a little dismayed about it as I hadn't noticed that before l accidentally caught my reflection in a shop window.

Taswama · 14/10/2020 11:59

Our skip has arrived. Never had a skip before so feeling quite grown up!
