I am very bored of our weekly shop and would like to try some new things. (I blame cooking endless bloody meals in lockdown!)
What interesting things do you buy Sainsbury’s? Or even more generally, what new foods have you recently discovered?
I order online so find it hard to just “browse”.

Sainsbury’s are incredible

For a quick lunch, I like Sainsbury's Spiced Squash and red pepper soup (it's tinned, not fresh).

Almond Croissants and cinnamon swirls from the bakery

Letsnotargue · 24/09/2020 14:09

Lemonade with no sweeteners in! Only in 1 litre bottles, and seemingly more expensive than Waitrose, but it's saved my summer for Pimms etc.

TTD triple chocolate cookies from the instore bakery.

Firecracker breaded chicken fillets.

We recently tried the 'love your veg' vegan burger with Applewood vegan 'cheese' slices. In their stonebaked ciabatta rolls.
Now, I'm not vegan just veggie, and imo all non proper cheese is disgusting!
But these slices were really lovely in the burger. I put some sharwoods mango spreadable chutney in too.
Really nice. Meat eating dh thought they were great too so bonus.

Moroccan style dry black olives in a jar

StCharlotte · 24/09/2020 16:19

Pork breakfast sausage (cold meats). Nowhere else does it and it's been a treat all my life. Tastes the same now as it did 50 years ago. Never disappoints.

When I was a kid you could order a whole sausage (about a foot long) which my mum did every Christmas. My brother and I would draw blood fighting over this stuff. She should just have bought us one each as our main present Grin

I would second this, my 2 year old loves them. I also like the melting middle smoked haddock fish cakes and the taste the difference chicken korma.

Red pepper humous.
They do a paneer curry type thing in the sides by the ready meals which is lush.

NomadNoMore · 24/09/2020 17:12

Excellent fishcakes

WinWinnieTheWay · 24/09/2020 17:42

Toulouse Sausages make a lovely casserole with haricot beans and tomatoes.

APurpleSquirrel · 24/09/2020 17:53

It did come in slices (in fact it only comes in slices now). It also came in a big chunk - like 2/3 inches of the whole sausage. I used to peel the skin off and scrape any remaining sausage with my teeth.

They also did "breakfast slices" which were long and you could fry or grill them like bacon.

I think the OP is probably after something a bit more exciting though.

Gilead · 25/09/2020 13:54

StCharlotte Breakfast slices is what I was thinking of, loved them too!

H1978 · 25/09/2020 15:36

Since subway stopped making their raspberry and white chocolate cookies, I’ve found the nearest replacement in Sainsbury’s. It’s a shame they are in a pack so I have to finish them all instead of just buying one. Grin

AriesTheRam · 25/09/2020 15:42

Omg breakfast slices.the greasiest things on earth but sooo good!
