What is on your worktop

Dull I know but reading about very few people having a bread bin made me wonder what do others have on their worktops?

I have the usual kettle, toaster, microwave, I also have a bread bin, fruit bowl, tea and coffee jars, egg basket, utensils holder, a pestal and mortar, a box of tissues, and often a vase of flowers!

Probably over crowded but all my cupboards are full!

So what do you have hidden and what is out on show?

The items out we use daily so it's more for convenience!

Peace lily I rescued from almost dead, kitchen roll, tea canister, coffee machine, Google mini, kettle, pot of utensils, salt pot, olive oil, toaster, bread bin, fruit bowl. Sounds like a lot and my kitchen isn't big but there's still loads of workspace somehow

Pinkshrimp · 12/09/2020 07:09

Mine is so cluttered due to a shortage of cupboard space.
Utensil tin
Olive oil & veg oil
Trivet
Giant pepper mill
Bottles of squash/sparkling water
Breadboards
Kettle
Toaster
Kitchen roll
Fruit bowl
Food recycling bin (at the end, nowhere near anything else)Bread/rolls/wraps

Funnily enough I’ve been looking at bread bins wondering if I could get one large enough to shove the bread selection in as that takes up loads of space and looks messy.

DH has also taken to emptying his pockets on the end of the counter, which is driving me mad, so now there is a messy pile of loose change, pen, glasses, prescription, plaster and a couple of screws.

Toaster, bread maker, KitchenAid, box of satsumas / small citrus fruit which are orange but not necessarily satsumas!, fruit bowl, butter dish, olive and sunflower oil, bread bag, kettle, teapot and storage jars for teabags and garlic.

A kettle & a basil plant. Don’t have a microwave or a toaster because we never used them. Hate stuff on the side in the kitchen

Ginfordinner · 12/09/2020 07:31

I have a small kitchen, and hate clutter, so my worktop has a microwave, kettle, utensil holder full of frequently used utensils and a TV. I have a George Foreman grill, food processor and food mixer on my tumble dryer.

LunaLoveFood · 12/09/2020 07:32

We it have
Microwave
Utensil holder
Biscuit tin (a big china novelty ones full of tea bags)
Food waste caddy
Bread bin

The toaster is in the cupboard along with coffee/sugar etc.

Crylittlesister · 12/09/2020 07:35

Kettle, radio, fruit bowl, microwave, wine rack.
Plus, currently, a vase of flowers and a cordless drill.

wishywashywoowoo70 · 12/09/2020 07:35

Toaster
Kettle
Bread bin
Microwave
Utensil pot thingy
Knife block (hate that)

When I lived alone I used to keep my roster in a cupboard, I hate clutter and would never have had a bread bin.

notangelinajolie · 12/09/2020 07:41

Just the toaster, kettle is in the utility. I hate clutter and have no and tea, coffee & sugar jars - all are kept in the cupboard in their original packaging.

Mol1628 · 12/09/2020 07:41

Microwave, kettle, food recycling box, toaster and fruit bowl.

PurBal · 12/09/2020 07:43

Tea and coffee canisters. Kettle. Toaster. Blender. Kitchen roll. Butcher's block. Knife block (which is far too big for our needs but DH likes it)

SimonJT · 12/09/2020 07:45

Chopping board
Nutribullet

Chickydoo · 12/09/2020 07:47

Today- roses in a vase
Toaster
The cat (bad habit)

Don't like stuff on the sides. Have lots of cupboards and a larder so room for everything to go inside (except the cat)

rainysun · 12/09/2020 07:49

I am jealous of the cat!

I would love empty worktops but two children and a DH means there is needs for everything that's out!

Kettle, breadbin (how do people store bread without one?) food processor, kitchen roll, couple of oil bottles/salt and pepper.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 12/09/2020 07:56

I hate clutter but things we use every day are allowed to live out in view. I have a short/long/short shape so :

Short: Sonos speaker, espresso machine, soda stream.

Long: fruit bowl, 3-tier bowl stand for garlic / ginger / chillies..... Sink...... Small compost bin, tray with kettle Coffee grinder. [Behind the sink - bow window - is a tray with dish soap, hand soap, sponge and paper towel holder]

There is a round polished tray on the island, that often holds flowers or a plant. That's all I like out.

DH would have every surface covered if left to his own devices. It is a constant battle!

Lazysundayafternoons · 12/09/2020 07:57

Way too much on my worktop, I just dont have enough room or cupboard space here.
I told dp this morning that when we move into our new bigger house I'll be putting the toaster away in the cupboard after we use it to keep the space clear. He thinks I'm crazy but we dont use it every day and if we have storage space theres really no need for it to be out on the worktop all day every day

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 12/09/2020 07:58

Gosh, well... we’ve just had our kitchen repainted, so everything’s in boxes at the moment, but we usually have: Magimix, ipad/phones charging, oils and vinegars for cooking, pot of utensils, Alexa, tea and coffee tins, Instant Pot, microwave, Nespresso machine, toaster, breadbin, fruit (formerly fruit bowl until it got smashed), various frequently used spreads (Marmite, pb), other bits and bobs sitting on top of the breadbin. It’s a bit cluttered but the cupboards are full.

Ginfordinner · 12/09/2020 07:59

I also have a small compost bin

naturallydelicious · 12/09/2020 08:00

Just a vase of flowers . I hate clutter , it stresses me out . The microwave in integrated and I take kettle , toaster, etc out as I need it

mosscarpet · 12/09/2020 08:00

on actual worktops:
Instant pot, slow cooker, microwave, coffee machine, stand mixer, kettle, toaster, spice rack, utensils pot, weighing scales.
on window sills behind worktop:
fruit bowl, bowl of eggs, Alexa, 4 plants.
