Tattoos on hands - trashy or ok?

So long story short. I broke my wrist and will be needing a surgery. Will end up with a visible scar. I started contemplating getting a tattoo to cover it up. Please tell me - good idea or a bad idea?

I think if you’re in a conservative profession it wouldn’t go over too well. Then again you could always hide it with a watch. Certainly better than an ankle tattoo!

Can be lovely, roses are a bit overdone.
It's personal choice. Most on here won't like it but in real life it's not such a big deal now

Hand or wrist? A lot of artists won't do hands unless you're already tattooed heavily
Wrist is different and can be covered with a bracelet or watch. I have a wrist tattoo and never had any issues with job etc

I like them. Well , obviously depending on what it is. But I also like the full neck ones but would never get one myself. What size and position would you be thinking of ?

I agree that most reputable artists will not do hands unless you already have tattoos.

Not attractive imo, especially on women.
However I wouldnt look twice, and would be unlikely to judge someone who did have them, theyre really quite "common"and acceptable now

I dont care, ill be going ahead anyway because its what I want to do.

Personally, I think tattoos look like you haven’t washed.

I know it's a thing that middle classes frown upon. I don't have any other tattoos - never felt ready. But I'm shitting myself now before surgery Sad

Blimey! I say go for it, just make sure it is something you don't mind looking at for the rest of your life!

I have a tattoo on both (inner) wrists and also on 2 fingers. All can be covered with long sleeves/rings and I've never noticed anyone visibly look aghast at them, they're so much more common place than you'd think. I also wouldn't class myself as trashy for those here that would- comfortably off, dress well, educated, speak properly etc.

In your position I might well consider tattooing - I’ve had quite a lot of scarring covered already. Thing is, it’s not advisable to tattoo fresh scarring. Older, well settled scars are another matter entirely although a talented, experienced tattooist is a must.

So, yeah, I’d concentrate on getting the scarring to heal as well as possible and see how you feel about it after 3 - 5 years. There are some excellent scar treatments about, it’s a long time since I looked into it so I’m hesitant to recommend anything myself.

For coverage during healing and settling, dermablend is Fab.
