Sometimes when you need a good cry, you can always guarantee these films would make you cry.

What are yours?

Marley and me
War horse
(In fact most sad animal films)

And I’ve literally just watched Deep Impact and I cried again!

Oh god, I havent got enough space to list all the films that make me cry - I cry very easily at films and books.

The films I've embarrassed myself over in cinemas to the point of not being able to drive home after include:

Schindler's List
I, Daniel Blake
Pride - at the credits, not during the film itself
Le Huitieme Jour - cried so much the person in the row in front had to keep giving me tissues
The Lives of Others
JoJo Rabbit

I'm really missing the cinema - Netflix just isnt the same

SkyeIsPink · 05/09/2020 17:05

The Colour Purple
Marley & Me
Armageddon (I must be the only one lol).
Stepmom
Up

Macguffin69 · 05/09/2020 17:08

The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp - 'now here is the lake and I still haven't changed'.

TheMostHappy · 05/09/2020 17:10

Ghost 😩

EastBoundAndDown · 05/09/2020 17:15

I can't remember a film I haven't cried at , I don't know what's the matter with me. 😂
I cried at bloody Trolls the other day 😂

TheMostHappy · 05/09/2020 17:15

In fairness I am a terrible crier! Anything with animals in it gets me. David Attenborough is my arch nemesis for getting me attached to cute things and making me watch their cruel and untimely demise, I can't stand it!

Lassie
Flipper
Marley and Me
Free Willy

All those sorts of things will leave me blotchy and snotty.

daisychain1620 · 05/09/2020 17:18

OMG I'm dreadful for crying at a film. The one's that set me off every time are:

Ghost
E.T.
Sleepless in Seattle
The Railway Children

Notonthestairs · 05/09/2020 17:35

Mamma Mia 2 where Donna is in the chapel. My mum died a few years ago and she's missed so much of her grandchildren.

Paddington 1 & 2 Blush - just at the display of kindness and optimism.

And I've stopped watching The Crown - I've reached the Aberfan episode and can't bring myself to play it. The memory of seeing it on the news reduces my Dad to bits.

The green mile.
Thelma and Louise (last scene)

bellmyring · 05/09/2020 18:33

Never at fiction, but sometimes at true stories or documentaries. I cried several times at the end watching "I'll be gone in the dark". It's so tragic about the author. Also, at the victims meet up, they are so brave and strong, wow!

EastBoundAndDown · 05/09/2020 18:33

Umbridge34
I'm glad it wasn't just me then! 😆
He's not my usual type of singer but I think it was how emotionally Justin Timberlake sang True Colours 😭

in2dagroove · 05/09/2020 18:35

The last scene in mamma Mia here we go again.......... Meryl Streep's ghost....... oh bugger I'm off again

ZeldaSmelda · 05/09/2020 18:38

Marley and Me and About Time. The scene where he knows he won’t see his dad again and his dad asks him to stay for a little bit longer and do one more thing and they go down to the beach and Domnhall Gleason is a little
Boy again and they spend time on the beach flying a kite... I absolutely sob and I’ve vowed to never ever watch that film again, it’s simply too upsetting 😭

Pieceofpurplesky · 05/09/2020 18:41

Shawshank Redemption. Ruins me every time. I cry at the start now thinking about him at the end.

Up. Anyone who doesn't cry in those first ten minutes is heartless!

Brokeback mountain. The T Shirt bit

maddiemookins16mum · 05/09/2020 18:47

The fox and the hound, I’ve never managed to watch it all the way through.
Lion
Holding the man, I also haven’t managed to finish this one but I did manage to finish the book.
Dumbo
A very natural thing
The theory of everything
Alien

isthismylifenow · 05/09/2020 18:54

I'm a bit of a tough nut and the only movie I've properly cried watching was Hatchiko, but I watched The light between two oceans recently and I shocked myself that there were some tears running.

Maybe I need to watch a few of these mentioned, as a test Smile
