Sometimes when you need a good cry, you can always guarantee these films would make you cry.

What are yours?

Marley and me
War horse
(In fact most sad animal films)

And I’ve literally just watched Deep Impact and I cried again!

Beaches
Railway Children
Up
Incredible Journey (the original version)

MsTSwift · 05/09/2020 13:49

The end of Billy Elliott when the dad and brother go and watch him at the ballet

Beaches at the end

Ghost

Umbridge34 · 05/09/2020 13:50

In the name of the father. 2 moments. First with the burning paper (if you know, you know). And at the end when he insists upon leaving out the front door since he's now a free man.

flindorama · 05/09/2020 13:51

I cry at practically everything.
The ones I've watched again recently that set me off the most are
The Last Unicorn
ET
Moana

Billy Elliot kills me when his dad breaks the strike so he can get the money for him. Seeing him crumble to floor in his sons arms is so real.
vampirethriller · 05/09/2020 13:52

The Land Before Time
Into the West
Ed Wood at the end.

Crylittlesister · 05/09/2020 13:53

I cry at EVERYTHING undortunately, so most films set me off. One that nearly broke me was "Who will love my children?"

Somethingkindaoooo · 05/09/2020 13:57

Juno - where she is crying over her baby, and when her step mum shouts at the nurse to get her some pain relief.

I cried at Remember the Titans - so many scenes

Has anyone said Toy Story 3yet? The end?

Soubriquet · 05/09/2020 13:57

@LickYouLikeACrispPacket

Oh yes Titanic leaves me barely able to breathe too 😭
I cry too at Titanic but not because of Jack and Rose

It’s when the mum is tucking her children into bed and the old couple are laid in bed together with the water rushing in

Everytime it gets me

The Shawshank Redemption - There's something about the scene when Red is bagging groceries in the grocery store that makes me cry. And the end, when Red and Andy meet again. But at that point, I'm already crying, just louder.

Schindler's List - just everything Sad

A River Runs Through It - "I am haunted by waters." I lose it every time.

The Green Mile - the little mouse in the box.

Steel Magnolias

Terms of endearment

Ordinary people

The champ

NancyPickford · 05/09/2020 14:02

“Run, Bambi, Run!” - “But mother ...” (gunshot)

Mrs Jumbo rocking Dumbo in her trunk with “Baby mine” playing.

The end of Beaches.

The start of Up when it shows the course of the old man’s relationship with his wife from when they were so young and in love, up to her death.

Rhett walking out at the he end of GWTW, after Scarlet realises she’s been an utter fool about Ashley.

Anything to do with abandonment, heartbreak etc gets me going.

monkeyonthetable · 05/09/2020 14:03

Oh yes, that Billy Elliot scene!

NancyPickford · 05/09/2020 14:04

Oh, and “Jessie’s Song” from Toy Story 2, “When she loved me.”

cariadlet · 05/09/2020 14:04

I'm quite unemotional in r.l. but cry a lot at books and films.

DD was a bit 🙄 when she caught me crying at a zombie film. Tbf, it wasn't a traditional pure horror zombie film. (I was watching Cargo, the Netflix film with Martin Freeman). There were a couple of scenes in that which made me well up.

Manchester by the Sea: the flashback scene when you realise why Casey Affleck's character has changed so much and why he behaves the way he does.

And of course, "Daddy, my Daddy."

Soubriquet · 05/09/2020 14:05

I’ve seen Cargo! Made me cry too!!

And both me and dh sobbed at the good dinosaur

Omg @Somethingkindaoooo I'm so
Glad you said Toy story 3. I had to explain to my infant school aged DD why mummy was crying 2 weeks ago.

Also, Steel Magnolias, Titanic, Dumbo, Bambi, Schindlers List, 12 years a slave, the Pianist, most episodes of the handmaids tale, ET,

EhUp · 05/09/2020 14:06

Has anyone mentioned 'Goodnight Mr Tom' yet?
Film length version made for TV with John Thor

Makes me cry like a baby!

ProperVexed · 05/09/2020 14:07

Bridges of Madison County
Beaches
Dead Poets Society
I'm on my own this afternoon...I might indulge in a good sobbing film.

FrenchyQ · 05/09/2020 14:10

Jurassic world fallen Kingdom. The bit where the diplodocus gets engulfed by the volcano. I ugly cry at that everytime

Yep!

I had to sit there in the cinema trying hard not to ugly cry.

Kept saying “it’s not real! It’s just CGI!”

Still cried Grin
