Sometimes when you need a good cry, you can always guarantee these films would make you cry.

What are yours?

Marley and me
War horse
(In fact most sad animal films)

And I’ve literally just watched Deep Impact and I cried again!

cariadlet · 05/09/2020 14:33

How could I have forgotten Up? The first time I saw it was when I showed it at my primary school film club. Luckily my tears were dried and my face was just about back to normal by the time I switched the lights on.

Soubriquet · 05/09/2020 14:36

Oh Coco!

When Miguel starts singing to mama coco and she responds. The heart just

Why did I even start reading this thread? I'm trying not to cry at the descriptions people are putting on here!

I've always been a bit of a crier but I've got so much worse since having my DS.

I don't mind cathartic crying at romance films but can no longer handle anything sad to do with children. I can't watch 'Oliver' anymore because it's too horrible to think of the poor orphan boys who don't find it they have a secret, loving family.

A Little Princess when Sarah Crewe runs to 'Papa' who doesn't recognise her...My heart SadSadSad

Avengers Endgame, iron man's funeral. Every. Single. Time. And ive watched it loads. I cry at most disney films too, the most recent being frozen 2.

LongPauseNoReply · 05/09/2020 14:43

Me before You ugly snotty tears every time.

whiteroseredrose · 05/09/2020 14:44

About time

The scene at the end where they go back to him being a child and play on the beach.

I'd love to be able to occasionally go back to when my DC were small.

Elsiebear90 · 05/09/2020 14:46

A.I. and 12 years a slave, couldn’t stop crying for quite a while after those two Blush

Needhelp101 · 05/09/2020 14:46

Yes to so many of these.

My go-to is Truly Madly Deeply. Made even sadder by the loss of Alan Rickman.

And the last 10 minutes of Paddington 2. One of my favorite films of all time but God, it makes me ugly cry.

whiteroseredrose · 05/09/2020 14:46

Agree Dead Poets Society.

I sobbed at the cinema when I first saw that.

But mainly when animals die.

There used to be a website called 'Does the Dog die' so we could be reassured before watching!

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 05/09/2020 14:47

What is it about the traffic lights scene in Brides of Madison county? I never cry at films but that made me blub.
Also the scene in Cuckoo's Nest when the chief lifts the sink.

DolphinsAndNemesis · 05/09/2020 14:49

It’s a Wonderful Life. I always cry twice when watching that film, first during the scene when young George tells Mr. Gower he accidentally put poison in the medicine, and then I cry again during the last scene.

Au revoir, les enfants. The last scene in the schoolyard.

cariadlet · 05/09/2020 14:50

@whiteroseredrose Did The Dog Die? is now a free app. I downloaded it after someone recommended it on another thread.

iklboo · 05/09/2020 14:52

Up
Inside Out
Coco
Toy Story 3

(All above are Damn You, Pixar films)

The Green Mile
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (the funeral)

Not a film but Inside Number 9 episode 'Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room' breaks me every single time. Also The Twelve Days Of Christine.

Livebythecoast · 05/09/2020 14:57

Purplecatshopaholic · 05/09/2020 15:01

Pretty much anything where animals die. Oh, and Ghost - obvs.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 05/09/2020 15:03

Kramer v Kramer

Love Story

Sophie's Choice (although that was so traumatic I needed to switch that off and never got to the end)

In tears now again thinking about it

GreenPlum · 05/09/2020 15:05

Me Before You. Fuck me. Don't!

Soubriquet · 05/09/2020 15:05

Sophie's Choice (although that was so traumatic I needed to switch that off and never got to the end)

I’ve only seen the YouTube clip of the choice part and from there I’ve decided no way could I handle watching the whole film.

Anna and the King. I cry at that when Tuptim and her lover dies and when the kings favourite daughter dies.

OP posts:
Laburnam · 05/09/2020 15:07

Mama Mia 2
The Book Thief

I started watching it quite randomly about 15 years ago (ie pre sky when I would have had to look up the paper to see what was on). Got to the choice bit and had to switch off during that so never seen the full scene. I was early 20s and had no children but it totally traumatised me. Now I have children I actually can't bear to think about it
