Asking for a handhold - DH in ICU

peachgreen · 04/09/2020 10:56

DH was taken into hospital last night with breathing difficulties. It was pretty minor, the paramedics weren't even going to take him in but we insisted. He's now in an induced coma on a ventilator. He's had 2 negative Covid tests so they don't think it's that but they don't know what it is.

I'm falling apart. He's my whole life. We have a 2 year old who is a complete Daddy's girl. I need him so much. I can't even be with him now because of COVID.

Thanks. Take care of yourself. Drs have a lot of options these days and heart failure covers a very broad spectrum of conditions and prognosis. Thinking of you

justasking111 · 04/09/2020 16:58

@justasking111

Friend with heart failure at 34, with drugs and diet she is still going and working full time. Keep praying as we all will for you *@peachgreen*
I should add she was diagnosed with asthma to begin with and treated as such.
loobylou10 · 04/09/2020 16:59

Jonoula · 04/09/2020 17:00

My brother was diagnosed with heart failure 10 years ago. He’s just finished building an extension to his house. X

RandomNameForRandomThreads · 04/09/2020 17:00

Don't give up yet op Flowers

My mum was diagnosed with severe heart failure in 1994 following a viral infection and nearly died.

She is now an active, vigorous very much alive 86 year old.

SunshineCake · 04/09/2020 17:00

Oh I am so sorry. I read your post saying he had heart failure and immediately teared up. I am thinking of you.

I don't know anything about heart failure but I find it terrifying that the paramedics didn't think he needed to go to hospital.

yorkshirecountrylass · 04/09/2020 17:02

Sending hugs and thinking of you OP, hopefully the doctors will soon be able to give you an indication of the extent and treatment options x

TheFoz · 04/09/2020 17:06

@peachgreen 💐 I was diagnosed with heart failure nine years ago like a few pp it’s a horrible term & makes you automatically think you are at deaths door, in 99.9 cases this is absolutely not the case & treatment has moved on & improved dramatically, could be a number of reasons why the doctors have diagnosed HF & lots of conditions with the heart are very treatable, hopefully the doctors will be able to give more information once various tests/results are known, which hopefully will maybe alleviate some of your fears, I know it’s scary but try to keep calm & have faith in the medical team & all the treatments that are now available, sending much love.

Oriflamme · 04/09/2020 17:12

Branleuse · 04/09/2020 17:30

Sending love and strength

2pinkginsplease · 04/09/2020 17:31

There are a few stages of heart failure so it may not be bad.

My dh’s cousin had heart failure after giving birth at the age of 21 hers is controlled by drugs and regular tests. Please have hope.

iCU puts the fear into everyone’s but there are amazing doctors and nurses in these places,

Elderflower14 · 04/09/2020 17:32
