Asking for a handhold - DH in ICU

peachgreen · 04/09/2020 10:56

DH was taken into hospital last night with breathing difficulties. It was pretty minor, the paramedics weren't even going to take him in but we insisted. He's now in an induced coma on a ventilator. He's had 2 negative Covid tests so they don't think it's that but they don't know what it is.

I'm falling apart. He's my whole life. We have a 2 year old who is a complete Daddy's girl. I need him so much. I can't even be with him now because of COVID.

Hope a better day today.

He's home!!! Can't quite believe it. Now the real work begins - but at least we can do it together. Thank you all so much for your support, your kindness, your prayers and handholds - you helped me more than you'll ever know. I genuinely don't know how I would have made it through without you. I am so grateful.

How fantastic! Are your parents still with you to lend a hand?

That's great news. I remember your first post and have been thinking of you and your OH. Baby steps of course but you must be delighted to have him back at home.

SunshineCake · 28/09/2020 16:58

How was your first night *@peachgreen?

Mindymomo · 28/09/2020 18:36

Fantastic news. I will always remember the night my husband came home. I didn’t sleep the first night and we were chatting away at 3 am, holding hands and crying, not believing he was finally home. It doesn’t sink in for a few days.

peachgreen · 29/09/2020 22:23

Thank you so much all, you're all so lovely. Its wonderful having him home though I am of course very anxious all the time. Though not showing him that! He's doing incredibly well, quite fatigued and very weak muscle wise but still able to do things. DD is cutting 2 molars which is making things a bit tough as she's miserable and not sleeping!

So glad he's doing well. You must be on your knees though, bless you Flowers

peachgreen · 30/09/2020 10:10

To be honest I am @spiderlight, I feel a bit broken! Just so sad that our lives have turned upside down like this. But I'll get used to the new normal I'm sure.

Don't do anything that isn't a necessity until you've had a chance to recharge your batteries; a bit of dust doesn't really matter and it's amazing how many things really don't need ironing!

Thinking of you all Flowers
